I think it's because Matt and Tommy are perceived as 'fans' rather than 'media.' These guys are getting the same dozen questions 10 times a day and everyone's trying to trick them into giving them that week's soundbite. P1 isn't out to do that, and I'm sure they can tell and get more comfortable.

Something I remember vividly is during the driver parade for the 2017 Hungarian GP, my father, brother and I were sit at the end of the main straight. My father had a sombrero Charro (the stereotypical mexican hat), and my brother and I had a luchador mask each, plus we had a very big mexican flag and a sign, because we wanted Checo to notice us.
For that race driver's parade, they had one of those big buses where all the drivers are at the same time, not individual cars, and Checo was having a conversation with Sainz, giving his back to the grand stand. Carlos saw us and started to point at us so Checo would turn his back, and he seemed like really worried that he would miss us, but Checo wouldn't turn, and Sainz looked at us like "I tried, I'm sorry". I don't blame Checo for that, since I guess he didn't expect to see mexicans there, but it was so nice from Carlos to try to make him look, it seemed like to him it mattered a huge deal. And listening to him explaining how important it is for him to greet people at the track, makes the experience better for me.

No one could guess the results if its reverse order, the lower end teams trying everything they can to keep that car ahead while the top try to catch up. The racing would be so god damn good. and like carlos said, it wouldn't ruin the main race at all and still be exciting.
