      Zak Deckich it doesn’t matter if they have raced or not. You can put a girl in the drivers seat and she’ll still race but if you ask her how much horsepower she’s runnin, she won’t know. What I’m saying is it doesn’t matter if you have raced or not. It matters if you know the knowledge and background of it.

    It seemed to me on that last run that Roman let up before crossing the finish line. It's probably because the camera shot inside the vehicle was not in sync with the exterior shot of him not yet crossing. Did the Cadillac have anything like a cold air intake or a modified ECU chip? So many possibilities to bring that time down even further. Take out the back seat and the spare tire and he's easily into the low 13's if not high 12's!

    • @TFLcar
      @TFLcar  9 лет назад +19

      Roman says no one told him he had to wear it so he didn't. Helmets are very dangerous in cars with airbags. They can cause more harm than good in the case of an airbag deployment.

    • @aaronbehindbars
      @aaronbehindbars 9 лет назад

      +Eric V I think that is what the tracks in my area require.

    • @racer774
      @racer774 9 лет назад

      +Jay Trock - Pulling fuses during off-road driving is understandable because of the potential of sensors being activated by heavy vibration or a hard landing, etc. That is off topic. -- Unless you had your head tilted an abnormal amount backward with your full face helmet's chin guard pointing nearly skyward , there is no way an airbag's deployment could cause harm to you. My example refers to a POSSIBLE basilar skull fracture. The likelihood of this occurring is quite low and the benefits of wearing a helmet far outweigh this remote chance of airbag injury due to wearing a helmet. I need not include what can happen with a short driver whom has the seat moved very close to the steering wheel because manufacturers have warned against doing that since the '80s.
      Additionally, nice site you found as a reputable source to debunk that theory, +CareerFireman - I completely agree with you. Misinformation is bad advice. You probably see or hear of it in multiples compared to us not in the rescue profession.

      Just because others do it doesn't mean it's a good idea or that it's smart to give others bad advice. As an ex-fireman, I will agree with CareerFireman that removing the airbag fuse is very bad advice.

    Plain lessons here folks. Operating a high performance car with a manual transmission requires intense skill and a good deal of practice, if you don't got the muster, and most don't, please do not torture your drive train, be smart and get the more advanced technology, a high performance automatic. I see so few people smoothly work a manual; perhaps its time to admit that with the annoying shudders, inconsistencies, and inevitable wear its just not a sensible way to transfer power. Roman would have enjoyed himself a lot more with the computer controlled 8L90, and would of course delivered better times.

    • @TFLcar

      Okay cool guys.

    • @racer774
      @racer774 9 лет назад

      +WarmSoftKitty - Your reply is completely inaccurate. Traction control on OR not, with better traction capabilities (warm rubber), you will have a quicker time as a result as long as you drove the car correctly as well as having a car that would actually SPIN the tires because it had enough power to do so. Additionally, who in their right mind would attempt to drag race using actual mud or snow tires except, perhaps a 4 wheel drive truck or SUV driver that chose to take a quick stroll down the drag strip? Bridgestone Blizzak tires have been one of the best winter tires available for many years and they certainly hook up better when they are warm as opposed to being cold. ALL rubber, as long as it isn't overheated will grip better than cold rubber on ANY surface besides snow, which of course would garner no benefit either way by a change.of the rubber's temperature. I have no idea where you came up with your information but it isn't sound reasoning. Please share your source so they can be questioned as to why, also. Misinformation is bad information.

    • @ChevySpeedAddict
      @ChevySpeedAddict 9 лет назад +1

      +WarmSoftKitty I ran on Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 once with a burnout and after about 20 minutes of sitting in line, I made a run without a burn out and my time was almost half a second slower the run with no burn out. Lesson of the day...unless you have Prius tires on your car, do a burn out.

    • @ChevySpeedAddict
      @ChevySpeedAddict 9 лет назад +1

      +WarmSoftKitty you must've had lemon tires then because they were great tires for me. I have Continental ExtremeContact DW right now and they are great tires as well, but the Potenzas actually had better cornering traction and initial launch grip. but the contis are far better in the wet and wear much better as well. all while gripping for days.

    For an amateur driver, 13.9 is pretty good. Heck it's good for an experienced driver, considering the car is 'only' an ATS-V.

    • @njchiller45
      @njchiller45 9 лет назад +2

      +PrivateEyeYiYi not really... The car is a near 11 second car stock. A driver with slight experience should be able to pull mid 12s. An almost 14 second time is just sad

      The guy clearly said he wasn't going to do a burn out because it wasn't his car. And it was his first race. Plus he beat the Honda. He did what he said he'd do, which was break 14 seconds. What's sad about that?

  • @Cajun-it3yf

    Not sure why those times are so high. I have seen quite a few of these run low 12’s on stock tires, bone stock. He should have either tied or beat that Camaro.
