Correct, even based off of the debut of the ATS's initial chassis, it would have just turned 7 years old. The ATS-V is on a different variant of the Alpha chassis that is over 25% stiffer, as well as other changes to it. Really the ATS-V architecture is more like 4 years old, same chassis on the ZL1 and the V3 is on an extended version of it.
aftermarket strut tower bar / Eibach sway bars / tie bars = my base Alpha is stiffer but since you can put that stuff on an ATS-V I guess my point is moot

It was over priced is right. The Jump from the previous year models was substantial. The Higher price wasn't justified is my opinion so the buyers were not there. Right now this over price shows, as a Used ATSV can be had in the 30K range. Driving the thing off the lot and it was 20K loss, another indication the car was over priced. I just picked up a 2016 sedan, manual transmission. I'm completely blown away by the entire driving experience of this car. And Oh my god, the transmission is by far the best I've ever shifted.
I was originally looking at the M4. That search brought me to the ATS-V, which then brought me to the 6th gen Camaro SS, which I think is a better driver's car. NA small block, Alpha platform, Mag Ride for $20k less, half of which I put into performance mods. GM killed it with this platform. Too bad no one bought em...
I own a 2018 ATS-V Manual in Vector Metallic blue. I will only own Cadillac V from now on. This car is a beast and fun to drive. The new 2021 V body style doesnt even compare. Not aggressive
I think they were just under marketed. I didn't even know the ATS-V existed until I was sitting in a Cadillac dealership one day, searching for a Gen 2 CTS-V I could maybe buy lol. The kicker was that the Gen 3 CTS-V that had recently come out was an automatic transmission only, however I discovered watching their marketing TV in the lobby that day that the ATS-V, which they released at the same time, came in an optional 6-speed, as a 189mph top speed track monster, little sister to the CTS-V, and absolutely gorgeous with 4 doors. I fell in love... 😊 3 months later, I finally bought my ATS-V from a dealership in Texas and never regretted a moment of it! I got a 2016 Sedan in Phantom Grey Metallic, 6-Speed, with every factory option. She's my baby, up to 35k miles now, I hope she continues to be a collectable and sought-after vehicle!
Awesome video as usual! Just one note: the stock base M4 is under-"rated" at 430-ish at the crank by bmw, but its very well known thru dynos/forums that the actual stock hp number is 460 at the crank.
Love this channel... glad RUclips recommended to me. I’d love to get my 6th gen E85 ZL1 in your hands to track. 632 whp.... wonder if it would perform near the Z06?

It didn’t sell well because it has the wrong badge. If you slapped BMW badges on this beauty it would have sold out. The Alpha Platform is only 7 years old, and the cars on this platform still do plenty well. The 6th gen Camaro vs 5th gen is absolute night and day difference.
I drove one exactly like this which was tuned by HP tuners. It actually sounds 100x better in person and is extremely quick. I drove a manual and it was an experience.
hikeskool my bad man. I used to work at an auction and I used to mess around with all kinds of high performance cars. This particular ats v was the first one I’ve seen and it had hp tuners on the side window. I’m guessing it was a repo. Sick car though thanks for explaining it to me 👍🏻
Sold my 2014 ATS 3.6 premium/performance model. Great car! The chassis and suspension work have features that are found in BMWs, add to it the magnetic ride control and it handles really awesome. One of the biggest down falls was the instrument cluster and the CUE (barf). Huge low point for that car.

I've liked the ATS V since it came out. Not a fan of the regular ATS but this chassis and the manual make it great fun. Its a hard pick between it and the Chevy SS for the price now.
@Lord Xenu ya I am looking as they are mid 30 to 40k for both which is great for the money. I am also looking at a used RS5 so I can get a APR stage 2 on the new 2.9L twin turbo car.
@Lord Xenu that car is fast I have rode in my buddies and it hauls ass. I want a RS6 since its in the states now. I just can't afford it since I bought a new SUV for the wife and a 3500 this year. So I think its going to be ATS V Manual or the RS5 as the SS is great but it is my third place option. Any of those are a win. I was looking at a S6 or S7 a few years ago but decided to get a truck and a smaller car instead. Whatever I get is a 2 year car since I want a C8 Z06 or a Viper with a Cam, Tune and Exaust in 2022 or sooner. The options are so vast these days its hard to choose.
Yeah, I'll give you a 4.5 out of 5.0. For a "Quicky Clip" video, I enjoyed it. This Caddy is definitely understated. GM was attempting to market a semi - luxury vehicle that was not as high end as the XTS but not as standard as a CTS. The 2015 ATS was limited production to test the sales water. Remember Lucifer's SUV - the Envoy XUV ??
the secret sauce is the 6 speed auto in 2015 models because it can handle waaaay more than the max torque figures they claimed for the 6l45 .. in 2016 they dropped it for the 8 speed which supposedly sucks. manual would be fun too but with any extra power the clutch would get it's ass kicked like it lived in 90's Japan
I have a performance edition 2.0t ATS4 I have hit 0-60 4.76 average over 10ish pulls with brake boosting without brake boosting it’s around 6ish I keep up with the new 2022 ecoboost mustangs in a car that almost 10yrs old…..Cadillac ages well when taken care of and all the interior stuff is interchangeable from years and even stuff from the CTS like the all digital dash cluster swap right over
it didn't sell because of the segment it's in, status, and brand reputation. nobody considers it. German luxury and sports car car buyers are going to buy more German cars, they are loyal, to a fault even. they aren't cross shopping and test driving Cadillac. I bought an M2 a couple of years ago and I test drove an ATS-V - I was blown away to see how no other m2 owners had even considered the ats-v, at all, not even a blip on their radar. It's sad, it's a great car.
I got a M2 as well, but considered the ATS-V. Passed on the ATS-V because I decided to get automatic and preferred the M2’s DCT over the ATS-V’s auto. But still, although I passed on the ATS-V, I respect Cadillac’s V division and I agree it’s one of the most underrated American cars ever produced.
Alpha platform bro (ie, the chassis that went in the 7's at the Ring underpinning the ZL1-1LE, and many reviewers like to use in the same sentence as the word "Porsche").
I just picked up a CTS-Vsport which has a very similar motor (LF3 VS the LF4 in the ATS-V) I'd love to get it over 500whp but noone has really done it with the LF3 because they are so rare. Very few bolt-on's for my car compared to the already sparse modifications available for the ATS-V. Fantastic cars either way, thank you for the breakdown!
@@hikeskool Yes. I am aware of how google functions. I was saying how there are not alot of bolt-ons available for my car implying that to get over 500whp I'll likely need to do some custom work.
suspension is the most important strut bar first then sway bars and tie bars in that order followed by mono coil struts and if you don't have the posi diff rear consider it but hard very hard to find used and costs over $1400 USD brand new
@@thisismagacountry1318 I love how you watch a random compilation of driving clips and assume that's how I ran all day lmao. The majority of the clips were shot in the morning when I was still learning the track.
These are such under appreciated cars especially with the 6 speed manual. Yes the interior isn’t class leading. But they are amazing drivers cars. If what you care about is a car that is fun to drive with a chassis that talks to you and involves you in the driving experience you simply cannot do better in this segment. Part of the beauty too is that they don’t need any mods to be fast and work well either. The stock motor makes good power, the stock brakes are very good and the chassis tune out of the box is excellent for street and track. As for the video it was interesting but the hot lap was so chopped up as to be incoherent. It felt like random shots with random sound spliced together randomly . It never felt like I was watching a hot lap.
I saw this in another video about this car, but some things that could have made this car sell better? Square off the styling, murder everything out, slap a Buick badge on it, and it could have EASILY been a modern Grand National.
Ehhhhh for most people a tuned LF4 will Obliterate a FBO LS3/LT1 without hesitation. This car makes 550+whp and gets 30mpg on the highway..... its an amazing motor
@@Pityk24 Ill take a less powerful NA V8 over a turbo 6, even if its "slower". An LS is simple, sounds great and doesnt heat soak. No doubting its a great motor. I just dont want my $60k car to sound like a Dyson, lol. To each their own
As good as this car looks, I really don't like how it sounds. Yeah it sounds better than the M4, but in my opinion, this would've been much nicer with a twin turbo I6 or an NA version of the CTS-V V8.
I thought it didn't sell well cause they didn't use the lt1 or lt4. I mean, you have the v8 might as well use it. Luxury Camaro basically. I don't think people interested in American cars wanted a turbo 6

@@nookroot890 plain not good enough needs more for the price
Love a lot the Cadillac line up just for the record... definitely this ats does a very fine job.
I have the old 3800 V6 and it only makes 400whp check out my dyno. But its amazing how much power these cars are making today. Great video🔥🔥🔥
My wife daily’s a 2014 CTS-V wagon. I really dig the ATS-V also, lots of potential with that chassis.
I own a 2018 ATS-V Manual in Vector Metallic blue. I will only own Cadillac V from now on. This car is a beast and fun to drive. The new 2021 V body style doesnt even compare. Not aggressive
this guy down the street has a white ats v and I always thumbs up him but I think he gets it haha
3 months later, I finally bought my ATS-V from a dealership in Texas and never regretted a moment of it! I got a 2016 Sedan in Phantom Grey Metallic, 6-Speed, with every factory option. She's my baby, up to 35k miles now, I hope she continues to be a collectable and sought-after vehicle!
Awesome production quality .great stuff 👍
Always hated the gauge cluster
yeah it looks cheap and tacky, my base ATS coupe has a better looking cluster 😂
My favorite channel! Amazing video! Great review!
Awesome video as usual!
Just one note: the stock base M4 is under-"rated" at 430-ish at the crank by bmw, but its very well known thru dynos/forums that the actual stock hp number is 460 at the crank.
Doesn't really matter...they still get ate up the same.

Love this channel... glad RUclips recommended to me. I’d love to get my 6th gen E85 ZL1 in your hands to track. 632 whp.... wonder if it would perform near the Z06?
I leased one for 3 years, fantastic car! Autocrossed it several times!
I'd happily buy one out right.
Automatic?
bro u look like no neck ed + Leo Dicaprio in ypur dp 😂😂😂
You can auto cross a lease?
@@droppinbaumsabsolutely! I'd be more wary of drag racing or taking it on a road course, but you can do those too. Just understand that if you break something, it could cost you out of pocket...
@Mike Hertz yes, an auto... Would have bought it out if it were a manual, but too many issues with the auto at the time. There seems to be a reliable fix for the issues now, so I wouldn't let it stop you from making a move on an auto if the right one came up.
It didn’t sell well because it has the wrong badge.
If you slapped BMW badges on this beauty it would have sold out.
It’s not the performance, most people that buy a $70K sedan with this kind of performance will never push it past 50% of its limit. (Thank God)
You gotta have a “better” car than your neighbours, and a that badge won’t cut it...
Great vids as always!
Marketing is what killed this car, I'm definitely gonna own one in 2021 can't wait
I have a 3.6 na Awd & I love to drive it. My kids do too apparently. Wish I had a V. Always looking to own 1. I’ll add some bolt ons. It has been reliable. My son had a m2 with mods & it was sick ! Just sold it. I’ll keep my caddie !
My car makes a cameo at 0:34! :) nice vid!
Yanbags nice Camaro! Do you have an Insta account?
John Daniels yes - @yanbags not an awful lot of camaro content but it's there a bit 🏎💨
Yanbags No problem! I’ll give you a follow!
HP Tuners is software. That's like saying "was tuned by Windows 10."
Who tuned it/which tune is it?
hikeskool my bad man. I used to work at an auction and I used to mess around with all kinds of high performance cars. This particular ats v was the first one I’ve seen and it had hp tuners on the side window. I’m guessing it was a repo. Sick car though thanks for explaining it to me 👍🏻
High quality cinematic!!!!! Yes please
Great stuff!
Geez, that 60-130mph time is pretty impressive, actually. I really like these ATS V's, they punch above their weight.
It's quite slow compared to the car now, this was a relatively conservative Trifecta 93 tune for road course use like 3+ years ago
What?? That exhaust is sounding NICE
What size rims & tire set up
Sold my 2014 ATS 3.6 premium/performance model. Great car! The chassis and suspension work have features that are found in BMWs, add to it the magnetic ride control and it handles really awesome. One of the biggest down falls was the instrument cluster and the CUE (barf). Huge low point for that car.
That can now be upgraded to the digital CTS cluster!
Well the production years are 16-19 and there are only 4,163 made for 3 years. With only 730 manuals and 3,433 autos
i just got the 2.0 coupe and its so much fun to drive
bro I had the AWD sedan and it was dope too but noq I drive a RWD 2.0t coupe and fr driving is becoming extremely fun again like when I firat got my license
bonus points for learning to control the transmission in sequential manual mode
Dope video bro. Keep it up.
Mike, but his real name is Peter!
The video gives a positive and unbiased review on ATS-V. My impression about this car is that it sells well in China.
Classy presentation
Who says nobody brought this car. I see them All the time where I am from.

Caddy was on a good path that they should have stayed on BUT its over now they Messed up the whole line-up !

@@MeltingRubberZ28 yeah true but WHO put her in charge?
The Blackwing Vs are going to be dope af
@@chrismagnussen4304 yeah But 100k dope?
Derek Anderson heck no! But I’ll be looking for a CPO car once it comes off lease 👍
I love my 2016 ATS-V. I'll be handing it off to Tapout Tuning to take it the level that Cadillac should have done for this being a V.
I have a performance edition 2.0t ATS4
I have hit 0-60 4.76 average over 10ish pulls with brake boosting without brake boosting it’s around 6ish
I keep up with the new 2022 ecoboost mustangs in a car that almost 10yrs old…..Cadillac ages well when taken care of and all the interior stuff is interchangeable from years and even stuff from the CTS like the all digital dash cluster swap right over
This thing should be doing 6 sec 60-130s with those mods that guy needs a new tuner
Subscribed. Awesome vibe
it didn't sell because of the segment it's in, status, and brand reputation. nobody considers it.
What happens when you take out the V8 6.2 from a Camaro and put in a 3.6 V6 twin turbo ? A Cadillac !
You can thank the base ATS for the modified alpha chassis that's found in the V and the Camaro ZL1
strut bars / sway bars / tie bars / mono coilovers = base ATS becomes a true handling monster (especially in 2.0t form)
I have a base ats 2.0 and it has pretty good power. Get a k&n intake, Renick exhaust, and a zzp tune and it'll roar down the road.
Schmidty tune and ur set
I loved dusting just about everyone with my golf clubs in the trunk of my bolt on 2nd gen CTS-V, car was amazing
Beautiful color for sure!
Thank you! On instagram @satrn_v if you want to see more of her :)
If only they put the 10 speeds in these
Alpha platform bro (ie, the chassis that went in the 7's at the Ring underpinning the ZL1-1LE, and many reviewers like to use in the same sentence as the word "Porsche").
All I know is, it's a beast. I wish more tuners scooped them up they way they did the new supra and gtr's.
Funny thing is there's so many similarities between this engines twin configuration and the new Z06 lt5
missed a chance to get one for cheap a few months ago and still not over it

GodlessMartyr666 huh
@@GodlessMartyr666 I've never made more money. Thanks for asking
LF3 you're turbo limited and the transmission provides other limitations. Trifecta Performance has a good tune for the LF3. That's who tunes my car
Trifecta is your best bet. Nice tunes. Corsa and others make exhausts.
Use a search engine.
@@hikeskool Yes. I am aware of how google functions. I was saying how there are not alot of bolt-ons available for my car implying that to get over 500whp I'll likely need to do some custom work.
I see a new Track Day video, I click.
I've always liked this car and it's a great bargain, but the gauges are atrocious.
I drive an ATS, I regret not getting the V. Thankfully, there are a lot mods available.
suspension is the most important
strut bar first then sway bars and tie bars in that order followed by mono coil struts and if you don't have the posi diff rear consider it but hard very hard to find used and costs over $1400 USD brand new
You should do a 2013 to 2015 rs5 video
That guy can't drive, you don't brake in a corner... You don't get on it once you are strait... He's just learning the car.
*Learning the track*
You cut the apex and accelerate before the curve finishes unwinding. Noobs,...
@@thisismagacountry1318 I love how you watch a random compilation of driving clips and assume that's how I ran all day lmao. The majority of the clips were shot in the morning when I was still learning the track.
Honestly it was pretty cringey. If you're gonna go to the effort of filming, put in the effort.
@@Pityk24 Hey man what are your tire and wheel specs??
10 yr old architecture??? Uh, no this is the alpha platform. The ATS-V sedan is the best handling 4 door on the planet
Yeah. And in fact the ATS was the first car in production on the Alpha platform.
I saw this in another video about this car, but some things that could have made this car sell better?
Square off the styling, murder everything out, slap a Buick badge on it, and it could have EASILY been a modern Grand National.
Amazing car. What killed it is the V6 they threw in it... LS3/LT1 would have been an absolutely amazing idea...
To each their own
Showing its age my ass.
Great car to review!!
As good as this car looks, I really don't like how it sounds. Yeah it sounds better than the M4, but in my opinion, this would've been much nicer with a twin turbo I6 or an NA version of the CTS-V V8.
It doesn't sound all that good to me,i actually like i6-S55,N55,N54
it's a track monster, not a muscle car.
weight in the front end is the enemy.
I thought it didn't sell well cause they didn't use the lt1 or lt4. I mean, you have the v8 might as well use it. Luxury Camaro basically. I don't think people interested in American cars wanted a turbo 6
Mine did 5.81 on the 60-130 lot left on the table with this car .
I think this car was slept on because of its price and bad transmission. Sad because I’ve always liked it.
I have one and honestly I race it on the weekends and then the wife takes it to Costco on the week days.
It’s just the best car in the category second to only the giulia
