Hey I just wanted to say thankyou, I'm a 31 yr old male from Australia with 3 kids and watching your videos has inspired me so much, I've used sketchup and built a, sliding door and barn window for my single car space carport, and a solid workbench.
Before watchin your videos i was always too worried to start due to perfectionist ideals, but watchin you and your casual approach and information it really inspired me to have a go. The only thing that stops me now is waiting for my pay to drop in so i can buy more wood.
Thankyou so much, please keep doing what your doing, a true leader :)
Thank you! The most common fears new woodworkers face are uncertainty about gaining the necessary skills and the hesitation to try something that seems overwhelming. Sure, my goal is to teach basic woodworking, but really I want people to find the individual confidence and personal fulfillment that seems to be elusive these days. 👍
+1 35 yr old male with 2 toddlers also from Australia (Central Coast)! I used to watch Steve's videos when feeding our first baby at night and it inspired me to get into woodworking (I am at the office 9-5 otherwise). Now 2 years later I have a proper workshop and dozens of projects done from shop/outdoor stuff to fancy indoor furniture! Keep it up mate! Woodworking is so rewarding!
As for wood - check Gumtree or ask around constructions (they often give away free framing hardwood). I built my first BMW from that;)
@@jakes9743 two toddlers in my thirties too. Rip roarin basement shop in the freezing cold winter over here in Chicago!
Haha im seeing a trend here, all these middle aged fellas lookin for a new hobby!
Trust me Steve, Your casual, comedic and informative style of teaching would be getting many involved!
Thanks again **thumbs up**
My condolences on the passing of Princess Meow-Meow. She'll be missed.
So sorry for your loss Steve.
Princess Meow Meow was a beauty.
Here's thanking you and your family for giving Princess Meow-Meow a beautiful home where she could enjoy a long and happy life ♥️ She was always clearly content and grateful in her own kitty ways.
Hey Steve, nicely done as always. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of Princess Meow-Meow. It is always hard to lose a pet. We'll certainly miss seeing her in your videos.
I’ll miss Princess Meow-Meow’s guest appearances. My condolences, Steve.
FYI Steve this video showed first in my Recommended section.
Mine too!
Mine THREE!
Mine also
Mine as well.
Same here
I'm so sorry for your loss 😔 My heart goes out to you, your family, and all who loved her ❤ sleep in peace princess 🐈
Now I'm crying... She will be sorely missed.
Thank you for the video,Steve. I sent it to my brother in Brasil who does not have all the tools.
My wife and I watch every video, have been for years. We always search for Meow Meow sightings. I hope a nice shelter find comes into you lives.
Very sorry for your loss. She will always be a part of the community through her appearances in videos. Thank you for sharing her with all of us.
Condolences to your family on the loss of your wonderful pet. 15 is a nice long time for a kitty, especially one who had such a loving home. I see from all the comments, she had a lot of fans here (myself included). Thank you for sharing her with us!
So sorry to hear of your cat’s passing. We lost a dog this week that was with us for 12 years. It wasn’t a surprise but the loss is real. As for the video, great job as always. Traditionally stiles run the entire height of a door and the rails are captured within the stiles, so if I were to make a similar door I would cut the half-laps on the opposite sides. I’ve been working in the cabinet industry for the last 20 years and have never gotten used to seeing mitered doors either. I know it’s a personal hangup of mine, but I’ve come to terms with it! Thanks as always for sharing, Scott
The stiles should be the entire height of the door. (see pocket hole frame at 0.32)?
@@david-jg9ex Yep, that door is correct.
Saw this come up in my recommendations and was really excited! New WWMM video! Also looking forward to the minimalist shop tour!
And then the end card. My heart sank.
To some, pets are just animals. To others, they're family.
So sorry for your loss.
It's nice to see people who understand the pain of losing pets; cats in particular. Sorry Steve. Nice memorial 😌
I LOVE THE "REAL SPEED" BADGE SO MUCH!!!!!!
My husband and I literally paused the video to go back and re watch the real speed sections because they are SO TREMENDOUSLY informative. The closest thing I have seen on any other channel is an indication of how quickly the footage has been sped up e.g. 15x. This is WAY better.
Princess Meow Meow brought so much joy to so many people that she never even met. Thank you for including her in your videos - seeing Princess Meow Meow always makes me smile.
Nice to see you again Steve. You're sorely missed. 👏👍🇬🇧
Sorry to hear/see about the loss of your princess.
Thank you for you videos and information you provide
Aww, I'm sorry to hear about your kitten. Hope she always has a sunbeam to nap in now.
I'm so sorry for your loss! She'll be remembered well for her cameos and more.
Informative video, thanks.
WWMM has always been Woodworking with Meow Meow in our house. Won't be quite the same without her. So sorry for your loss. xxx
Sorry about your cat Steve, hearing her jingle was one of my favorite parts of the videos.
Princess Meow Meow ..... may your journey through the after life be one of joy.
Steve ..... many condolences to you and the fam' ..... she was always one of the highlights for me when watching your videos.
Easy to follow video. Should help anyone get up and running making Shaker style doors. Although, I kept waiting for the "whoops" about which face you were trimming. Then I saw you actually did place the stiles between the rails. I have usually seen the opposite configuration, where the rails are set between the stiles.
So many wonderful Princess Meow Meow moments. I was just watching a 2015 video, WHATEVER BECAME OF...?, Wyatt was filming & at 20:50 you guys walk in on her sleeping. I re-wound the video several times. She just blinked & looked like "there's my guys... Yep they love & worship me. And yep i love them too." So happy, so content she looked. And that's what i want for my family, the adults, kids, pets, i want them to wake up happy & content. I am so sorry your family has to feel this loss & yet i'm so glad you all had her with you to love so much & that she made such a huge impact that makes this such a loss. Thank you for sharing her with us.
& for right now, while it's still so raw, i also want to say: Wow, this sucks! & it's not all right, it will never be ok(easier but never easy or ok) & it's not fair! But, we are all thinking of you!
Princess meow meow will be missed. She was such an integral part to my woodworking journey.
I took a woodworking class three years ago in high school and since I graduated I loss interest in woodworking and the biggest inspiration is Steve. I rewatched all his videos and I am happy to say I’m interested again now, Thank you
And this is why I will always watch your channel. You’ve taught me a new way of doing something I can actually accomplish with the equipment I have. Thank you sir.
Steve,
Just wanted to say the RealSpeed didn't go unnoticed. Really nice touch for learning. I always stop mid-project and say "why is this taking so much longer than I thought??" Then I remember that every project on RUclips is in fast-forward.
Sorry for your loss, Steve. After I lost mine few years back, I've had 6 more and I am very glad to have them around the house.
Sorry about the kitty. I always loved catching a glimpse of her in the videos. The fact that you were a good teacher AND a cat lover is one of the reasons I purchased your class.
LOVED the real speed on those cuts. It is so helpful to be able to get a real sense of how long it takes to move a piece of wood through the saw on these different techniques.
I’m going to miss Princess Meow Meow 😿
Thank you Steve for giving us freeloaders on RUclips a new video! I think your last video really explained a lot. I enjoy the inspiration from your videos but I don't have the time to do most of your projects. This type of video will improve the chainsaw carpentry my father taught me on the farm!
Thanks Steve. I don’t really have the need (or space) for a router table, but I do occasionally make shaker style panel doors. This video has been very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate how it’s done. Sincerely, satisfied subscriber.
Steve, I’ve been following you and learning from you for almost eight years. Thanks. Thanks so much.
Purr some wine for the princess, good to have videos back.
I'm so sorry for your loss. What a good long life she had, all the more to love her for. I know she will be deeply missed.
sorry to hear about your loss. She was always appreciated in your vids. She will be greatly missed.
I just watched this video, watching in order from 2008 onward and saw the end. I'm sorry to here about that even as it is 2 years ago. Thank you for all your videos.
Sorry to hear about Princess Meow Meow. I've enjoyed your videos for a while, and just a few weeks ago used your list of tools to begin my woodworking journey. Princess Meow Meow's appearances always made me smile.
Wishing your family the best.
Our family is a big fan of your videos. Our condolences on the loss of Princess Meow-Meow; losing a pet is a terrible ordeal but I like to think the pain we feel at their loss is a reminder of how much love they brought into our lives. We hope to see a new feline join your family and make guest appearances in your awesome videos. Best wishes, sir!
This is EXACTLY what I wanted to see!!! I have a pocket hole jig, and normally build my face frames using pocket holes, but the doors this way makes a lot more sense!
Great video, Steve! 👍🏼 But so sad to see the ending and read Princess Meow-Meow died. My condolences to you and your family. I always love hearing the “Princess Meow-Meow Theme.” All the best to you, Steve!
So sad to hear about Princess meow meow it was such a treat to see her in the shop. Maybe this can inspire a shop project for a little plaque with her face and name on it for further enjoyment. ❤️🐈👑
Very sorry to see the loss of your little partner. My thoughts and prayers for your family's comfort.
What a great solution!🔥 Thanks for the tip and demonstration Steve!🙏😎
Your videos are like a good Ribeye steak you feed us well Thank you. RIP Princess Meow Meow 🐱
Thanks so much for helping me get off my butt and finish this medicine cabinet. For a long time, I was debating on how to put the doors together, and I finally got off my butt and got it done in a single night. You're an inspiration!
My condolences on Princess Meow-Meow. I’ll miss her random appearances.
You work very flexible and guide very enthusiastically
My condolences on Princess Meow Meow.
Thanks for sharing this woodworking technique.
I'm looking forward to the new woodworking course, I saw some teasers on Instagram! BTW: I know it must be hard losing Princess Meow-Meow, I had a cat for over 15 years too, they really become part of the family... but here's something odd you may notice: don't be surprised if you think you see her around the house and shop from time to time, I had that experience, it wasn't so much as weird as it gave me some peace of mind that I can't really explain..
So sorry to hear about Princess Meow-Meow. Her theme song remains one of my favorite tunes I've ever heard in a RUclips video.
Hey Steve. Thanks for the tips on how to make the half lap frames.
And I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Princess Meow-meow. I will miss seeing her in your videos, see was in a lot of them. Respects from Virginia
Can't wait to land a new job. Weekend woodworker is gonna be my treat to myself.
OH NO! I didn't know princess meow meow had passed! So sorry about your loss. Losing pets is ALWAYS hard.
I don't even HAVE a shop and I still love watching this channel. I keep watching in hope of getting a woodworking shop soon as well as a job closer so I actually have TIME to use it.
Sorry for your loss. Blessings and keep up the good work.
I am so happy that i found your channel! my fascination for wood became so huge over the last 1-2 years. I have a very limited budged on buying tools i will collect them from month to month.. i cant wait to work with wood and your channel provides exactly that type of stuff i need because im so clueless! thank you so much for sharing ur knowledge! greetings from switzerland
Woo hoo! New video.
I am a newbie with few tools. This is the solution I was looking for. Awesome. I do believe I can do this.
Great video Steve. Sorry for the loss of your pet.
So what you’re telling me Steve is that I need to make a cross cut sled.. good thing I saw that video yesterday.
Thanks for doing what you do. I’ve learned so much in the past year
He's back! Good day for diyers. Thank you sir!
Sorry to see that you have lost your cat. I lost my 18 year old cat in July and my 13 year old schnauzer in September. We grow attached to our fur persons and morn their loss.
This was a good one. Love them half laps. Sorry about your kitty.
steve you are the best,,,i am making a storage cabinet for my router bits,,,i just watched your video on finger joints and I made the sides and top and bottom finger jointed ,,turned out great,,,and the plans call for a different type of door but I like this one so much better,,,
It's always so sad when a beloved pet dies. I'm sure you have great memories and I hope you make new ones. Love your videos.
Hi Steve, I enjoy and learn a lot from your videos. I am sorry for your loss. God's speed Princess Meow-Meow. RIP
Hi Steve, I like to cut my half-lap joints with my chop saw using the depth adjustment on the machine. There are so many ways to reach the same goal. Keep up the good work!
I just made a picture frame sled. After watching this, I'm tempted to use half-laps for my next frame project. Awesome as always - thanks Steve! And my condolences on the passing of Princess Meow-Meow.
love the real speed
I’m sorry to see that your cat passed away. That’s always tough.
Thanks for this quick lesson! I just bought the wood for a simple trash can cabinet that I’m making tomorrow. This is exactly what I was hoping your video would be this week!
This is great - clear, non-sensationalized instruction on basic woodworking techniques. Thank you for all you do!
Nice short video. The shop looks great. Princess Meow-Meow, it was an honour.
Hey Steve, please accept my condolences on the passing of Princess Meow Meow. I really looked forward to seeing her passing through your videos. She will be missed. Really cool method of making the frames btw. I just bought a dado stack and can't wait to try them out. Thanks, and keep strong.
I'm very sorry for the lost of Princess Meow Meow. I feel it is safe to say we all who have seen your videos over the years got fond to her and feel sad for her passing. Nonetheless I am sure she had a great life full of love and magnificent cameos.
Hey Steve, unrelated to this video, but I also wanted to convey thanks. I've always had an interest, but as others have mentioned, was a bit put off by elitism, etc. I'm a 36 year old Irishman, who is getting a table saw and a router from Santa. 😂To say I'm excited is an understatement. Oh, and today, I built stackable saw horses by following your video, so thanks again! Love your videos a way, mate. Keep doing what you're doing, because your relatable approach is superb. Big love! 🇮🇪
*anyway
Sorry for your loss. Pets are Family and I hope another adopts you.
Love the high tech clamps used for the door panels. Just like home.
Excellent, clear explanation of half lap joints w/rebate. Thank you.
Would love to see a video about the new shop set up. Sorry to hear about the kitty. Awesome show!!
Great video, Steve! Ever since I learned how to make half laps, I used them quite a bit. They're easy, they simplify assembly and they're super strong. They've become my favorite joint.
I love it. I like taking stock off the table saw and have it ready to assemble. Pocket holes are great for things I might want to take apart later, but this method looks really solid and less "fiddley".
Its good to see you are back.
A wave of happiness washed over me as I heard your team music kick in as the video continued, great video thank you.
Always enjoy your videos. Using basic tools that majority of us beginners have. Keep’em coming!
Thanks for the effort you put into these videos to make it clear for new woodworkers.
Hi, Steve!!!
Thank you for your videos, they are very inspiring to me.
And also, my condolences for Princess Meow-meow!!!
Sorry to hear about your cat, I have three I know how it feels as I have three and we love them a lot . Thank you and nice to have you back 😊
This is the method I often use for picture frames. Often I add a dowel of a contrasting wood for strength and looks
We need more princess meow meow in our lives
Thanks for the "real feel" for how it looks to cut the half laps. My condolences on the kitty.
Oh that's great, no router or pocket screws needed, just a table saw, which is an even more sophisticated tool than the router or pocket screws.
I like those better then screwing them together. Thanks. Looks great!
That’s the new basic mobile work bench! Looks nice!
guess what I'm doing this weekend now... making doors the easy way!!! thanks Steve.
Finally a woodworking video! I’m starved for them. In spite of your last vid talking about the goggle issues! And yes, I’ve signed up for both of your courses!
Very nice work you can tell it was made by a pro all ways a joy to watch
Hi steve, first my condolences for the passing of princess Meow-Meow , i will miss her appearance , as a cat and dog owner ( Luci and Layla)i know how the love for our pets can be deep.
Thanks for the video keep encourage me . I have just finished to build 2 single beds for my kids based on one of your RUclips videos, and i took a one step forward and build from African nut an addition vanity to the visitors sink - it was very hard technically for me i almost gave up!! But as student of yours I'm trying to adapt your approach for woodworking . Thanks Harel
