      Not quite. The fence isn't square to the miter gauge. Wrong method.

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop

      Seems to have worked out pretty perfectly. And does every time for me. Why is it the wrong method?

    • @nicholassmerk

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop only because you need to keep the piece pushed up square against the fence/bearing. You didn't demonstrate squaring the fence and miter gauge to the miter slot.

      I’m sorry but you’re wrong. With a router table you do not have To square the fence to anything. The router bit is round and squareness will not affect the cut.

    Housewife tip: When we had our custom cabinets built I requested that the carpenter set all the panels in as he did the glass. They're held in place with the plastic twists in the back. This enables me to get a wild hair up my butt, pop out the panels, and paint them with chalkboard paint. Or decoupage. Or switch the panels out for glass. Or anything I want, really.
    This is the only way I could imagine having the same kitchen for 30 years without getting bored. And it really works. The white cabinets don't bother me over time and I get to switch things up without doing any real damage or pulling out the paint sprayer and plastic.
    If a panel ever gets 'crafted' beyond repair, I can just cut out another 1/4 inch panel and pop it in. I have the information for the original white paint and can even turn it all back into a nice, clean, white kitchen if the mood moves me.

    For those who have never use cope and stick bits, it would be informative to let the user know that they need to add an extra 3/4 of an inch or 24 centimeters to the rail length or the door will be short in width. The rail inserts a little over 3/8's of inch into the stile, thus 3/4 of an inch a door. I learned this lesson the hard way building double doors and them being an inch and a half short in width. After all of the milling and sizing of wood, this type of rookie building mistake hits hard on both your time and wallet.

      I was about to ask about that as it's important to allow the extra length. Thanks for clarifying. Btw, 3/4 inch is 19mm, not 24cm!

      @TheFalconJetDriver 2 года назад +3

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop I went back and watched the video twice and I did not see any mention about 3/8 tongue on each end. In other words if you want your rails to be 10 inches long start with them 10.75 inches 3/8 on each end will be the tongue.😀🛫
