Awesome work!
Woohoo! Thanks bro! This year's gonna be Awesome! 🤘🤘🤘
Appreciate the tag guys. Feel free to contact us directly in the future. FWIW all our gaskets for all VQ applications are steel composite. The 07-08 HR's are the worst. I've yet to open one up that wasn't blown. FWIW the P0011 and p0021 will usually come up long before the P0524 as that means you have less than about 5psi of oil pressure. Additionally the missing parts of that gasket are probably in your lower pan if you ever decide to take it off and retrieve them, don't forget to look on the pickup tube strainer as well.
i'm assuming you're EPS Tuning? We're gonna definitely have more of these to do soon. Awesome to know all this for sure 🤘🤘🤘
I'm being told my rear timing cover is leaking? Would this be the same job or something additional? $2500 at dealership.
Same job 👍
Good summary guys. I've done all the homework on what's needed but, alas, I don't have a hoist, let alone a decently sized garage to be able to take my sweet time with it. That and I doubt my RTV application skills are going to be suitable.
I'm definitely taking it to a pro when I get to 60,000 miles as a preventative measure rather than wait for the problem to surface. May as well get them to replace the radiator with a Mishimoto, whack on an external transmission cooler and freshen up the ATF while we're at it. Australia is a bit warmer compared to my Northern Hemisphere friends. :)
I wonder if I should go the whole hog and just drop the motor for a stroker kit? :P
Yeah, it's definitely a technical job.. If you've got the time and the ability to work on it yourself, a stroker kit would be awesome. Can you bore the block?
Hey i was wondering if you could advise me on a good scan tool to use? One that has a screen to see graphs of engine functions. Seems like it's time for m to get one.
Shouldn’t you have done an oil pressure test instead of head gasket test to confirm? I did a OP Test on my Hr 350z and that told me to change it. Good video btw
We had a p0524, so we knew it had oil pressure problems.. We didn't know if the engine was just bad, so we tested to make sure we had a good engine before committing to a labor intense job. i appreciate you sir 🤘🤘🤘
@@milsgarageI have a 2011 g37 with this code p0011 p0524 p1217 . I changed the valve solenoid but the p0011 keeps coming up . Any suggestions before I junk it . ?
Mileage is 90k
I cant stand these new cars because you almost need to be a rocket scientist or a computer geek to work on them. I am glad their is people like yall to help us folks who stay lost unless your talking 80s or older LOL
Get used to it. It’s gonna get worse
@Good Ol Boy #76 It's true. i laughed an entire day when i realized i was actually practicing rocket science 🤓
@TLEO IPL Until everyone gets a Tesla 😂
Nice video. How did you stop the engine from rotating when reinstalling the harmonic balancer?
@@Runescape. That would not stop the engine from rotating. Also if it was out of time it would not start. I have learned a lot after doing one myself.
Great content, do you guys know when Nissan changed the design to metal gaskets? Which year?
MY2013-14 but they still used the same shit hardware that backs out and loosens over time.
Thank you! i really appreciate your support! They put the paper ones in the VQ35HR and VQ37VHRs up to 2014, so you want newer
That didn’t look like it was at TDC unless you turned the engine
What about a 2014 infiniti Q60s gallery gasket, are they still paper or were they upgraded?
i’m pretty sure it’s all the 3.7s through 2014
is p0011 a common code for a gallery gasket? or should i check vvt solenoids and camshaft sensors before actually checking oil pressure for a gallery gasket
also would a bad vvt solenoid give a false reading to the oil pressure test? or is it a seprate oil passage way that the solenoid wouldn’t interfere with the reading
Yes it is and it wouldn’t hurt to double check but it’s most likely on the way out. Oil pressure test can verify this too
@@purgatorydiemoany updates ? I have the p0011 also . Plus the p0524
enjoyed the video, and I've watched a number of them. i was thinking of doing it DIY but since I'm a retired automotive technician at 74 thought i might not want to. You said you do it, but where are you. I'm in Orange county California. are you?
Awesome, Thank you for watching! At 74 years, with experience as an auto technician, i bet you'll knock it out blindfolded. We're located on the other side of the States, in Delaware. Orange County seems to be a great place for cars
@@milsgarage It is. No rust no corrosion and lots of cheep high end cars that owners know nothing about. they use them a few years and their over it. time for the newest and latest and greatest. Got this one for my daughter a few years ack from an 82 year old female neighbor for a few thousand . it's been good till lately so since your so far away I guess I'll put my blindfolds on and go for it. all I have is time to loose. sounds fun and interesting. thanks again for your instructional video's.
Wild. Great buy! No rust would be a blessing here in the North East. You'll always see me working on cars from 10 or more years ago.. They do things when you tell them to, and not when the computer says it's time. Gotta reprogram the new 2024s after an oil change lol. There are some more technical videos on the gallery gaskets which go over the teeth and timing chain; With the right tools, i think you can save the day
Why didn't Nissan's engineers didn't place a groove behind the covers and use large o-rings to seal the galley covers? I'm sure they knew how critical these parts were....Seems very careless of them to do this.
Agreed. They could have done away with the gaskets altogether, or did it correctly like you've said for sure. Seems almost planned
Planned obsolescence that’s why
Looks like an expensive job to do 😮 I got an 10 370z and wondering if I should change it at 126k
i would wait until it goes into limp mode, but if you're planning on keeping the car forever, and travel long distances, it might make sense for you to get it knocked out for sure 👍
Wish I knew someone in Houston to do this for me the most I’ve done are spark plugs and brakes
I know a good shop

Few questions
I got a 2013 G37s w 42k miles, is mine affected? How do I know if I got this issue? And how much does it cost to fix it
Also, what mods do you recommend for my g37? I got it recently and found your fb post on the VQ groups
Subbed
Hi Sal, i really appreciate your support 🤘🤘🤘 Your G is definitely affected, and it's only a matter of time. This is quite a large job. i'd just ride it out until the issue arises, but we can definitely install some metal gaskets sometime down the line if you're in the Delaware area.
G37 mods? All of them 😎 lol idk, make your car something you like to stare at. We have lots of videos on the channel to help you come up with ideas
@@milsgarage I heard you can do an oil pressure test beforehand. I live in Kansas but I would like to be there but I need to know the cost roughly so I can save up for it
@Sals G37 The oil pressure test is to double check the head gasket. i understand for sure, but prices are always going to fluctuate with time and location
@@milsgarage oil pressure test can be used to determine gallery gasket is on its way out. If idle is around 10-15psi or below, it’s on its way out
Rewatch the video
Wouldn’t an oil pressure test would have shown a problem w the gasket
We knew the gasket was bad
how much would this have all cost?
Lmk when you'd like to schedule an appointment, and we can figure it out. 💯
Expect 2000$+ 😢
Lots of things to remove.
Cost of job??
We're in Delaware. Where are you located?
