Just for the sake of data. My 11’ G37S has about 250k miles on it. Water pump started weeping so im doing that, the chain, guides and now that im in there the galley gasket looks fine but might as well while I’m in there. Everything is original and the car runs great other than the coolant leak. Been a great daily
I have an 03 with low oil pressure and thought it only happened with the HR's. I peeked through the water pump cover and saw a tiny piece of the gasket sticking out. In the shop now.
I keep trying to decide if my 08 Z has this issue. I’m usually sitting about 15 at warm idle but some days it’ll read closer to 25. Some folks have reported 15 at idle and did the gaskets and it went back up to 30 after the repair. Others have done the gaskets and only showing 15. Idk if I should start to worry about it or not. Nissan spec is no less than 14 at warm idle but everyone says the Zs gauge is inaccurate. I’m reading about 60 at 2k rpms, 90 by 3k rpms. 118ish at WOT. I’ve read on the forums ppl say spec is 43 at 2k rpms and 90 at 6k rpms. So I’m on the low side at idle and on the high side under load. Perhaps my sending unit or gauge is just out of whack?
id keep an eye on it. it sounds like it may be starting to go bad but its not worth worrying about it at this point till it drop lower, those are good numbers for now.
Did you ever replace the gaskets? Preatty sure mine on its way out idles close to 15psi fully warmed up. All the videos I seen of them replaced have the idle jump up to 30psi at warm temps.
@@JR-mw3gf Not yet. We'll be replacing the gaskets while doing some work in the engine. Trying to make all the horsepowers in this G37 build. We'll be filming it all, however.
@@Pr3stonR Yep took the timing cover off and both of the gallery gaskets were cracked and letting oil through. The oil pressure kept dropping and it got down to like 8psi and would not go past 60psi at full throttle any more. Needless to say after the fix it was back up to normal idle 30psi and 60+ above 2k rpms and the car did not feel all sluggish like before. Edit: Sold the Z couple months ago and got a g37. Fingers crossed the gaskets don't take dump on this one too.
Hey I have a 03 350Z and at idle my oil pressure is at zero and my oil light comes on as soon as I start driving the oil pressure goes back up to normal could it be my galley gasket or could it be the oil pressure sensor
So stupid question (not a car guy), I have a 12' G37x with at 73k miles. Still runs like a dream, but it seems like this gallery gasket thing is at the very least a well known issue. Is there anything I can do to prevent failure? Ie. just take it a mechanic and swap it out before it goes bad?
your car i believe does not suffer from this problem because, infiniti and nissan updated that gasket on the newer ones to stop this from happening, let me check with. Corlan on that on what year it starts
nah that healthy i wouldn't be worried about that in the slightest. keep an eye on it occasionally and see if it starts to fall off though like every couple months or so.
Thanks for the reply man!! I was thinking of tuning the car and dumping money into it but if I had a gallery gasket issue, that would've been my first repair, however it looks like I won't have to worry about that.

oil pumps typically don't go bad unless something went through the pump like a piece of metal or bearing, then we would have other problems coexisting with that. being that the gaskets are a common problem we know that this is whats causing the issue.
Hell yeah brothers ! The content keeps on coming ... keep it up dudes
were on a roll now, were gonna keep it coming

Very helpful guys!
glad it helped
Did you ever do a gasket replacement on this engine? Was it the issue? 43psi at 2k rpm is standard.
Hey man, what’s the actual size on that fitting? I bought a pressure tester but the fittings were incorrect. I need exact spec... thank you
an oil pressure gauge should come with the right fittings, i believe its 1/4 NPT
New sub here.
Thanks for sharing 👍
no probs, thanks for the comment
My 3.5 hr was at 90psi cold start, at ideal completely warmed up it held 20 psi. I thought mine was a little low but I guess not
yea 20 is a good number

sounds like you caught it just in time, good deal.
I have a 2013 g37 IPL. Car goes into limp mode at random times. No DTC’s. Could this be a possibility
could be a sensor dropping out but to fast for the computer to see it

could be either, thats why this test i necessary
wat was it?
What are some symptoms of bad gallery gaskets? Besides the low oil pressure
thats about it unless its so bad its rattling the engine
@@salvobrothers5928 would the car go into limp mode or throw any specific codes?
@@mikehawk1890 Usually with the VQs there are no signs of failure until it's too late.
Once the gaskets Fail the engine is done for or you can still fix it?
How many miles the car had when this test was done?

How do u know if your oil galley gaskets bad?
if the pressure at idle is less then 5 and at 2k rpms the pressure is less then 25
I have no check engine g run like shit just change spark plugs
ran fine before that?
Yes
What the fuck size is the socket to take the oil pressure sensor off why couldn't you just say it
