@@Mabeylater293 NEVER again. Dont do it! Nissan used to be a beast in its heyday. For me it was the late 80s and thru the 90s. Great machines. Fantastic actually! Somewhere, somehow (Renault), their transmissions started to eat shit. I noticed how they were cutting corners trying to save money by how cheap the interiors started to look, even in their 'high end SE' models. I said, Okay, they are cutting corners but they are channeling their attention to the engine and the overall performance. Must be right? Well I came to the conclusion that the ENTIRE Nissan lineup is straight SHIT! Tranny, motor, interior, exterior....everything. The drivetrain is total garbage. For me, it is Toyota, Lexus, and Acura. The hell with Nissan. Bought a 2004 Nissan Maxima (V6-Automatic) off the lot in early '05. Brand new! NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! Too many problems to list. Use your imagination....

When I bought my '08 350Z that has the same engine in it, 3 months later I had low oil pressure. My friends from the FB 350Z group said it was the gallery gasket. I took it to Nissan and they said yes, it was. Luckily for me I bought the warranty since I bought it used. All I had to pay was $100 to fix it from a Nissan certified mechanic. I couldn't fix it myself since I'm paralyzed on my right arm. They replaced everything brand new. That from cover, timing chains and so on. It was about $4,000 worth of shit, labor, parts.... So damn glad I bought that warranty! lol Nice video BTW

Thanks for this video. Working on this right now on a 07 350z. Just cracked the crank bolt loose and about to remove the timing cover. The crank bolt was a bitch but i just wedged a pry bar in there to hold the crank in place and used a breaker bar with a cheater bar on top. It was a bitch but it popped. Just a heads up to anyone that sees this, but no need to even remove the front clip. I got everything off without even pulling the bumper off. Just pull the fan and radiator and there's enough room to get everything out. Again...thanks to jermaine for this video. I don't know if i'd be able to do this without his help and this video.

Good job and it was smart to replace the water pump and thermostat while you're at it. I've seen some of these youtube videos where they will tear down the front of the engine and won't replace the water pump. BTW, did you replace the main tensioner guide? That seems to be the most common failure to occur on these engines since the guides are made of plastic. I don't know why Nissan used plastic on these guides because the plastic gets old and will eventually break (main guide) or wear out (other guides on the smaller timing chains).

Amazing job and excellent cause even I get freaked out at doing those jobs... Gotta do it to mine before it goes.... But great work and thanks for all the tips and tricks! But only thing I can say, that ac cut you did, the lines separate right before the rad support section. That ring section right there is what separates the two sections and let's it go easy. Learned by doing the same trick you did until someone showed me how to remove those lines and couplers. Just giving a heads up. Did great, just wanted to point it out so ya don't have to cut another rad support again.

    Great job!
Learned a lot from this. I think I have a similar issue on my 350z.
Next time take out the spark plugs to make turning the crank N times to line up correctly , just that much easier.
I have to charge up my bore scope to verify that the galley gasket is blown.

Uhhh i think a little thinner coating on the rtv would have been fine. The two surfaces are precision machined and flat so a little goes a long way ..extra safety could end up costing you as well...since the excess could squeeze inside the cover and end up in the oil pan or clogging something up. Very very good job Jermaine keep it up man!

What exhaust does that car got?
Also, excellent video, very brave for stepping up to this challenge, scariest part is starting up the car for the first time.
Can't wait to see more vids

I got a P0524, P0011 on a 2009 G37 and it went to limp mode. I replaced the Oil pressure switch and reset ECU and it's running fine for now. If it goes back to limp mode with same codes I know the direction I'll be heading. Thank You.

Nismo it's not bad bro just take your time make sure u have your torque wrench and treadlock follow the key steps. Hardest part was the crankshaft bolt .. but know u know how to get it off. Just a little tedious

Jermaine Lee just put the car in 6th gear with rear tires lowered and use a long ratchet or breaker bar, it took me like 30 seconds to Remove the crank pulley and no need to pull front end off only fans

I did cam seals on my nephews A4 and it was the same thing. The whole front of the Car unbolts and swings open to the "service position" exposing the front of the engine. But after that "about an hour and a half" it wasn't bad. Its crazy how much it looked just like this.

TIP HEADS UP 📢 if you have a g37 q50 with vq37vhr (Manual Trans Only) The concentric slave cylinder sucks I seen it fail twice under race conditions. They sell a conversion to change it to the classic style throw out bearing and slave cylinder.

Good job. The only thing i will say is setting timing on VQs is not difficult, they put timing marks on the cam gears, chains, cams, and timing cover just line everything up and its good to go. i would have just removed all the chains instead of twisting that thing so much or at least taken the spark plugs out so it would turn easily instead of fighting with it. That 11:1 compression ratio can be tough. But everything else was spot on, that crankshaft pulley is a bitch though i hate removing those things.

    Hello friend friend
How are you would you please answer my question
How did you tourque the crank pulley nut?
Did you tighten it by air gun cause you have to Pull the starter and lock flyweel if you want to tourque it by tourque wrench.

I just bought a 08 350z nismo and driving home yesterday I noticed the oil pressure was low at idol meaning the galley gasket needs to be replaced. Can I setup an appointment with you to do this job ? Do you have a Facebook page so we can exchange information. You help would be greatly appreciated thank you
