By the price of hamburgers, my mind goes about US$ 10 max.
There are cheaper options for manual focus, manual aperture lenses depending on what we are doing. I have a Pentax Super Multicoated Takumar 50mm f/1.4 which seems to be the same as you show here in many ways. When I want to stop down to f/5.6, my 'modern' lenses with auto features are used. When super blur is wanted the lens I bought in 1966 is used at f/1.4 only.
I have a few of those SMCT lenses and do enjoy them quite at bit wide open, if you enjoy that 1.4 you should try the Helios 44-2, it's a 58mm f2 lens but has increadible colour renditions and beautiful character, for macro with extention tunes it is just spectacular.
For 200 Usd you can buy good condition used nikkor 50mm f1.4g for F mount, and it will be working with ok autofocus through the native adaptor on Z cameras, or third party electronic adapters on Sony E and Canon Rf...
Same price, a bit better on fully open 1.4 and with AutoFocus😊😮 used lenses market, sometimes is a better choice towards manual cheap Chinese lenses...😊
Low expectations yes! And on the other end, under promise but over deliver.
seems a nice addidtion to my 50mm 0,95 and 24mm 1.4. but its not an easy decision, because i can switch to aps-c and then my 24mm "becomes" a 36mm... 🤔
$130! Where do you buy hamburgers?
Does this lens work for sonya full frame A7S?
Yes
Sounds like a cool lens for the money Mark but it also sounds like you guys are paying too much for hamburgers over there in Australia!
lol, yes, I actually thought, I wonder if there are hamburgers that are more expensive than this lens? As it turns out, there are! I even put a link to them in the description. BTW, keep up the good work on your channel, you’re doing an awesome job.
@@markwiemels Haha! In Texas $10 will get you a burger that will blow away all them fancy shmancy gourmet burgers! Thanks Mark I appreciate that. Same goes to you. Peace!
What a small world! I'm subscribed to both of your channels, and think I have bought most of my gear through you both! Fulaan, I got your luts recently, too; now, I just need to learn how to use the editing software! lol....Appreciate you both! Peace!
@@JazzyJ5G Thanks JazzyJ I appreciate the support!
@@FulaanCreative You bet! Thank you!
I guess I’m missing something but I can’t find where u say the name of the lens.
Ttartisan 35mm 1.4
When I was younger back in the 80’s I learned photography with a full manual camera. I got away from photography but the past year I’ve got back into it and I’m really loving the manual lenses and with a modern digital camera it’s so easy because you know right away if you need to make adjustments. Not like the old days of finding out in the dark room that you screwed up.
I use both manual lenses ( mostly adapted M42 mount Pentax as well as A really nice Helios 44-2 58mm f2) on digital and new and old lenses for film as well. I also cut my teeth on film in the 80's, my first Camera was a K1000 and I still miss focussing with that split image focuss screen, it was fast and always tac sharp.
@@bigshooter461 my first camera in the 80’s was a manual Minolta and I still have it and the lenses.
This lens made me check out the pricy burgers😀. My humble advice: Buy the lens instead
haha... Most people never find the link! I'm glad someone finally got the joke.
Pergear 35mm , susah amat nulis judul ya 😂
This lens is 135 euros, i thought it would be about 30 euros maximum, because of the title 😂
Lol dude, what hamburgers do you eat? They must be Wagyu beef in a gold leaf bun.
Show us round the lens more.
Mention the name of it?
Lenses with the same relative aperture can have very different amounts of transmission. And generally lenses like this one have poor transmission.
interesting lens. would have been nice to see it on a camera to get an idea of the size and maybe mentioning how smooth the focus ring is and how clicks the aperture ring is. Haptic is what is most important for the shooting experience
Makes me wish I never sold my vintage canon lenses a decade ago.
It's great seeing all the street photography and knowing exactly where the location is hehe. Thanks for this and all your previous videos. I used to take a lot of photos with my old Olympus and had even bought a Helios 44M. But it's been over 5 years and these videos have inspired me to start again, now with a Canon M50
Is this the Pergear 35mm 1.4? The links seem to be outdated.
Yes
The amount of cheap Chinese manual lenses coming out is fascinating!
While the price/specs ratio is absolutely impressive and I have a few of them but I would still not recommend it to vast majority of people. The lack of AF and exif is just not worth it and in practice a cheap AF 1.8 is a better choice for most people.
$129 for a hamburger?
I put a link to the hamburger in the description … it was supposed to be a bit of humour, but clearly I didn’t pull it off. ;-)
I wanna know where your eating over $130 worth of hamburgers lol
I left a link in the description!
@@markwiemels I know lol. It’s $130 lol. That’s an expensive hamburger lol
You can get a better vintage 50mm 1.4 for cheaper. The takumar 50mm 1.4 or canon FD 50mm 1.4 are excellent and be had for under $100. Much better glass and fantastic bokeh

11 mim video but not a single clip of the lens mounted on the camera. lazy
Interesting insight, but that was intentional, not lazy. This lens comes on variety of mounts, and regardless of what I say in the video, as soon as people see it on a specific brand of camera, many of them think that this lens does work on their camera and leave the video. So I never show the lenses on any cameras.

Hey Mark. Would you choose this lens over the TT Artisan 35mm f1.4?
No. The TT is much better optically, but it’s an APS-C lens.
Is there any 50mm this good you might recommend ?
Thank you

No all f1.4 lenses are equivalent in the amount of light that impact the sensor. To know that you need the t number. There are f1.4 lenses that behave like a t2.2 lens and others that behave like an t1.7 lens. There are reviews that includes this and the chinese lenses are quite weak in light transmission most of the times. So, not all f1.4 lenses are the same for low light shooting
Especially high elements count modern lenses, which despite f1.2 or f1.8 have T stops at 2.8 or even higher than 3...
The only manufacturer which more or less solved the issue is Nikon with their exotic nanocristal and arneo coatings, reducing not only flare on high elements count lenses, but keeping light transmission on max. possible level, but even them have f1.2 S lenses with measured T stop somewhere over 2... That is why you can not find T stop for many modern photography lenses provided by manufacturer, as it looks bad in many cases...😊😊😂😂
I expected hamburger as in premium, $40 for a hamburger. 130€ isn't even that cheap for a lens, that's about what my second hand camera costed with a lens (they're old, but still)
I've been searching for a lens. Do they fit the nikon d7500 ?? I've tried google and everything I could but cannot find the information, thanks !
Will this be good for night/astro photography? Or the sharpness will suffer?
Trust me, you don't want to use cheap lenses for astro😊 they are not coma corrected, which will give you strange, jellyfish like shape of the stars on fully open f1.4... you can try to close it to f2.8, but I think this cheap lens will give you acceptable coma reduction somewhere at f4 - 5.6 which is no go for astro, high noise on high ISO even on modern BSI sensors...
For astro, cheapest solution is Sigma lenses, with decent coma correction and ok coatings performance... Better are nikon Z s line or G master, but they are expensive...
Of course this cheap lens will give you some results at f1.4, but don't expect some good pictures output ..😊😊
My 50mm f1.4 super takummar was$85 and it's an absolute KILLER! I can't imagine not having it
Is it full frame? Which mount?
@@everope M42, its a vintage lens so full frame
Takumar is a superb lens, better than a lot of other brand name lenses, except it is yellowish after a certain length of time, it needs cooked with ultra violet ray to get rid of. The other affordable brand comparable to Zeiss but still quite expensive is Voiglander.
The Nikon Z mount 1 star review is hilarious if you translate it to English…. Apparently demons buy and use this lens….
link dont work no way to know the brand the lens or anything good job
You make an EXCELLENT VALID point about the importance of BG blur quality being more important than overall sharpness. The way I like to look at it is not only because of the portion of the image that is actually in focus VS the portion that is blurred.. but rather the ''ratio'' (or difference) in between the blurred and the focused areas, making us feel like it's pretty sharp (or sharp enough). The more the difference in ratio is intense, the less the actual sharpness matters in practice. Chromatic aberration/focus breathing control is more important IMO.

One needs AF for street photography, manual mode only good for studio shooting.

@@antontaranenko8824 I agree with you. It's more of a complaint that manufacturers seem to be dropping the F mount for the newer newer mount. Although, the nice thing is that used Nikon lenses are much more affordable than they used to be.
@@jde1780 yes it is true, some Nikkor F lenses are still a high quality and specs by todays standards... Even after I moved to Z system and sold most of the F lenses, I still keep my Nikkor 200mm f2g and 105mm f1.4g they are still stellar performance 😊
Also, I am about to buy Nikkor 400mm f2.8e which is a Ferrari of the telephoto world and it is around 5k in near mint condition now in Japan... 3 times less than new Nikkor Z 400mm f2.8 S TC...
