A wonderful tutorial! I have been dyeing fabric with natural dyes for a long time, but never thought of dyeing paper! I do measure, and if the water remains the same you can get surprisingly predictable colors….but sometimes serendipity is even better! Hard/soft water, mineral content, even time of year makes a difference, especially if using well water. I guess I need to think about doing some paper now! You’ve inspired me!
Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and got inspired! That makes me very happy! I agree with you regarding measuring, results can be quite predictable. 😊 I'm just terrible at following any recipe, that goes for cooking, too🤣 I never follow them, not even my own. I always want to try things differently and sometimes it works out for better, sometimes it doesn't. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment! I appreciate it greatly! ❤️❤️❤️
Dragana, you have extreme patience!! You are such a scientist and experimentalist. I love your work and you are such an inspiration. The moment I would have gotten any dye on me, my clothes, etc, I would have given up. Lol!
I watched this entire video and it was so full of details and excitement just like a good book where you can’t wait to turn the page and see what’s next!! I also thought, wonder how long it took to make this video and you answered it at the end-one week WOW! Thank you so much! I love watercolor painting and your watercolors technique using dyes and paintings is so lovely! Everything (papers, fabric, lace, prints) turned out so beautiful!!

You know I love those kind of experiments! Glad you tried the blueberries, isn't it awesome! Pomegranate + blueberries 3:1, love the green it gives! You can put your cooked blueberries in a smoothie ;) The watercolor effect, wow, wow, wow!!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I wanted to tell you that I tried first with mulberries, worked ok, almost the same, but blues were a little bit more muted. But, for the video, I thought mulberries are not so easy to get, and I decided to use blueberries. I love the green that you get with sodium bicarbonate and blueberries, like you suggested. Beautiful shade. Love the one with pomegranate, too. It's very vibrant. Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comments on my videos. I really, really appreciate it ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for an awesome tutorial. As it happens, I made some dye with turmeric yesterday. It was past its shelf life, hard and shriveled. But after boiling and simmering, it turned out fine. I have blueberries in the fridge and was thinking of cooking them up for dye. And here you are with this inspiring video! Creative minds think alike! ♥️
You're very welcome! So glad you enjoyed the video. I haven't tried using turmeric, yet, but now that you mentioned it, I'm tempted to buy some and experiment 😆. I wonder what shade of green turmeric and blueberries would create? Or perhaps, they'd make some other color? Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness! What a fabulous video! You packed so much info into this. The dyed paper, laces and fabrics are beautiful. Then comes the watercolors! I am completely blown away by your talent! Thank you so much for sharing and I will be trying this very soon.
Oh my goodness! How did I miss this video. Your presentations are so beautiful to watch. You are an amazing teacher. Your instructions are so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Well that was fascinating! Like a science project. Never knew you could get such a variety of color from two natural dyes. Thanks for showing us so many techniques to get a variety of dyed paper. Oh my! And the lace! Love your art works.
I have been fascinated with natural dyes for years, but since I don’t sew, never really did much. But on paper? Wowza! I have done coffee, tea, and hibiscus, but you opened up my mind! Brilliant video! Thank you for sharing your process with us! 💙💛💙 ps: You inspired me to think about making a small art journal using handmade paper and natural dyes!
You're very welcome! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and got inspired! We think the same😀. I already put aside some of the papers I dyed to make an art journal. They just seem perfect for that, since background is already done. Still deciding if I want full pages or folded. Might do a video on that. PS: Clean white papers give me anxiety and zero inspiration 🤣🤣🤣
@karmaleenash2841 what color does hibiscus make? I grow hibiscus & always wondered what I could do with the flowers. I thought about pressing them but never thought of making dye with them.
I absolutely love how full your videos are! They are full of exploration and adventure and instruction and loveliness! I went straight away and bought these papers because they are so beautiful, and it also inspired me to make my own. Thank you so so much!
This was just the best video! A very comprehensive study on how to make the dyes and alter them with additives, with wonderful results. And your watercolour flowers are just gorgeous as are the coloured pages. Thank you for all your fabulous work!
Well done. Making the pomegranate dye is a bit of a process. The bluebery one looks relativly easy. I've done coffee, tea, shaving cream, paint sprays, and avacodo but never pomegranate or blueberries. I absolutely love the ones that you drew flowers on. The purple is my favorite. The purple digital that you made with the same flower is also my favorite.
😍this is so stunning! Love your experiments and how they all turned out and the water- dye coloring is fantastic! Thank you 🙏 so very much for such a detailed and informative session of creativity. It inspires me to try 🙂
Your work is soooooo beautiful! You’re very talented and teach beautifully your techniques! I’m definitely going to prepare some blueberry and pomegranate dyes plus the rust mordant. Thank you for sharing this. Blessings from Minnesota, USA.

WOW! AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS!! I think you would do very very well with real watercolors as these little paintings turned out to be absolutely beautiful. Thank for sharing your wonderful natural dying with paper and fabrics, I'm just so inspired by your videos. How generous of you to share your talents. Thank you.😊💗
This was an interesting tutorial. The digitalis you made were amazing. It would be interesting to see what color you would get from the pomegranate seeds.💜🐞
I learned so much from you I never made homemade dyes . I am so impressed with your sketches and papers . How beautiful. The papers you don't really love you can always make diecuts like flowers or butterflies
This was AMAZING! Thank you for sharing and being so organized. I also love how the mordant turned your leaf prints black in the other video about eco prints!!
You can probably use the blueberry pulp if you make your own paper- just toss it in the blender with your other bits. Used flowers and the stems of herbs you don’t use also with well that way
Your channel popped up as a suggested watch, so started binge watching last night, lol. Was up bright and early this morning and this was next on my "to watch" list, love it and everything you made turned out gorgeous!!
Excellent demonstration. You made it so clear to understand how the different natural dye works, what to add and how to use it. I want to experiment on fabric to do eco or biological print. Since I live in India I would like to see how many tropical fruits and other natural items can be used. Once again thanks for the detailed instructions. God bless you.
@@Saacibo I've just done some blueberries and a pomegranate. The blueberries came out well but the pomegranate was a flop. I will try it again though until I get it right. 🥰
Another wonderful tutorial Dragana. We have blueberries most every day for breakfast so I can give it a try soon. ☺ I love all your finished dyed papers and your floral designs are awesome. 🥰
Thank you so much Karen! Glad you enjoyed the video! There are no fresh blueberries here at the moment, but as soon as they become available I'm going to do this again. ❤️❤️❤️
SO, I watched this last night and ran to y kitchen after to make my own iron mordant... it will be interesting to see how long it takes to turn rusty! TFS 🤩🤩🤩
I think you should be able to see some change within a week! The longer it stays the more concentrated it gets. You can always add more water later on to dilute it 😊❤️
Your experimentation is so good to walk and listen to : thanks so much for sharing, I enjoy all that I’ve seen so far so I joined as a “thank you” cheers
its so cool to see someone else that says i wonder what would happen if i did this or added that etc👍😊and i really liked your rust water on the flattened leaves i doubt i ever wouldve stumbled apon that coz thats awsome so thankyou very much for shareing your experements ✌️to all
You're very welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I think I learned to be more inquisitive by observing my cats. I just have to try everything, even if it doesn't work 😊❤️
Oh Dragana! You are again so amazing!! You definitely are an artist as well as an experimenter! The two talents complement each other so well!! I wish you were my neighbor, we would have so much fun!! I had to take a break half way through the video to put my saved rusty bits into some vinegar! I couldn’t even wait until I had watched the entire video! I also have a bag of brown/yellow onion skins and red onion skins that I have been saving to color paper as well as a bunch of avocado skins and pits in my freezer just waiting for me to make pink papers from them! Bicarbonate of soda is sold in the U.S. as baking soda for anyone who doesn’t know. Also my vinegar said that it was distilled to 5% acid so I didn’t know if I should dilute it more or not, so I’m trying it full strength first to see what happens. I may wait until winter to do the blueberry dye just because I can’t do everything at once and I will look for pomegranates but not sure that I can find them. Your uses of your papers are also beautiful! I really really love the ones with stencils! Thank you! 💕
You're so welcome Donna! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. It would be awesome to be your neighbor! There are hardly any people in my current neighborhood that share the same interests with me.😊 Oh, what can I say, I love to experiment 🤣. As long as I don't do anything dangerous, I suppose 🤣
You are so incredibly talented and so great with your instructions. I believe I can use your methods and create beautiful papers for my journals. Thank you so much!!
I absolutely love everything I have seen you do! You are so inspiring. Your tutorial style is clear and your end product is fantastic. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
I would love to know where you got your information from re your mixtures? Going by many plant dye books I have none of them will use Blueberries because they are unstable even with a mordant.
@@jdmosaics it was suggested to me by another artist/crafter and I experimented and was very happy with the results. I used these dyes primarily on paper and fabrics that are not going to be washed and laundered. I still have some of these papers and drawings and the colors are fine, not as bright as they were but good enough. Green made with pomegranate and blueberries is still green. I like the unpredictability of these dyes, and I accept the changes that might come. In fact, that’s what I love most about them 😊
@@jdmosaics A few months ago, I tried using red cabbage to make a dye. Although I loved the color, I didn’t like the smell of my papers. I ended up throwing everything away so I don’t know if they would remain stable or not. I’ll take your word for it. 😊
🫐What a fun and interesting video! ..watching you be a "mad scientist" with the dyes! Lol 🫐So fascinating how they changed colour. The papers all turned out so pretty, as did the laces and fabric "ribbons". 🌿🌺You are so artistic with drawing too, but I guess I would have found that out sooner if I had finished watching more of your videos from last year - I am so enjoying going through all the earlier ones, but couldn't resist checking out this recent one. Thanks for all your work bringing this all together into one video. It was well prepared, and easy to follow.😸 I'll be trying this out too.We grow raspberries, and I'm thnking they would work too. And maybe green peppers? 🫑 Lol Happy crafting!
Hello Anne! Thank you so much for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. I think I've always been part "mad scientist", part artist/crafter 🤣. I go through stages, for a few years I was also fascinated by herbs and plants and had to try to grow any seed I could find 🤣. I also grow raspberries, it must be my favorite fruit in the world. I haven't tried dyeing with them, maybe I will this summer. I think dried red peppers can make paper brown- orange color. Haven't tried green ones, yet. It's so exciting, isn't it. 😊❤️

@@Saacibo I've just done some blueberries and a pomegranate. The blueberries came out well but the pomegranate was a flop. I will try it again though until I get it right. 🥰
What a fantastic video! Thank you so much. I love your drawings, they are very beautiful.
You are very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment ❤️😊
Hello Green!!!…😍 Love this what a brilliant video. Well done 👏
Thank you so much Melanie! Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️❤️❤️
SO, I watched this last night and ran to y kitchen after to make my own iron mordant... it will be interesting to see how long it takes to turn rusty! TFS 🤩🤩🤩
I think you should be able to see some change within a week! The longer it stays the more concentrated it gets. You can always add more water later on to dilute it 😊❤️
Thank you for this!❤ amazing how it turned out. You are quite the chemist.😊
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it 😊❤️
Your experimentation is so good to walk and listen to : thanks so much for sharing, I enjoy all that I’ve seen so far so I joined as a “thank you” cheers

Just fantastique !!! You are amasing and your créations so beautiful ! Thanks a lot
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching and commenting 😊❤️
There are hardly any people in my current neighborhood that share the same interests with me.😊
Oh, what can I say, I love to experiment 🤣. As long as I don't do anything dangerous, I suppose 🤣
Thank you for the many shades & explanation. All so beautiful
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊❤️

Oh, thank you so much 😊❤️
Wow everythings so beautiful ❤️❤️
Thank you so much ❤️😊
wow, so enlightening. love the use of natural dyes, I use avocado, and onions and red cabbage.
I'm glad you found the information useful. I also use avocado and onions, but I haven't tried red cabbage yet. On my to do list 😊❤️
@@Saacibored cabbage colour does not stay stable just like blueberries.
Absolutely beautiful and inspiring ❤
Thank you so much!❤️

You're very welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad you think so ❤️❤️❤️
🫐What a fun and interesting video! ..watching you be a "mad scientist" with the dyes!
Beautiful!!😍
I am going to have to try this very, very soon. I just love dying paper! It’s always nice to get new ideas… Thank You.❤️
You're very welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching ❤️❤️❤️
