because now, looks matter even more than your actual music talent. it's why people like james bay and john mayer have to make pop records despite being awesome blues musicians, but a joe bonamassa would never be mainstream even if he made pop records
true talent rarely lasts in the top echelon . John Mayer was the last great guitarist in the mainstream as far as i can recall and that was like what 2 years if that.
Stay healthy Marcus. You are the now and the future of blues, rock, rock-blues, whatever they're calling it this week. SRV, Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd.....now Marcus King. Thank God we still have the last three.
***** I came to see yall in Athens after seeing this video. You have a fan for life my friends. They just don't make music like this anymore unfortunately. Keep making that guitar cry.
+alfwok While it's true most mainstream music is digitally made, your statement is completely false. There are several people/groups in the current top 40 that play real instruments.
alfwok Music is music. You can make it with physical instruments designed for that purpose, by slapping your thigh rhythmically, by creating it on a computer, etc. If you PREFER music made with physical instruments, then good for you! That does not make music made any other way less real or relevant.
I have watched a lot of Marcus's videos and he is immensely talented. But it is his voice that really grabs me more than his playing. He's a very, very good player - especially for someone so young (at this point, 4-20-17, he's 20-21 yrs.) - but his singing is really from a deep place. There is an old soul in there. I wish him the best.
That was a spectacular treat!!! To have an amazing talent like Marcus just drop in and do a blues like that is unreal. Massive thank you to Marcus and Norms!!
Marcus joined in on his Dad's lives stream, yesterday evening! On Facebook, search Hometown Hodges, go to Videos, and look for MARVIN KING REVUE. Marcus joined them about 1: 05
Just saw Marcus King last night 4 years from this date and he is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard. He has learned so many cool licks and scales and his phrasing is impeccable.
I apologize for initially sleeping on Marcus. It wasn't until I heard Rita live that I awoke. Aside from serious guitar chops, I really appreciate how he sings in his range. He could easily belt vocals from start to end, but he lays back just right. Danka Norman.
Feel late to the party! I’m in Perth and been on a Marcus King and MK band binge! Loving the songs, the vocals, the lyrics and the guitar playing is nuts, thank you! The guys comment after hearing MK play is the same as me... WTF it just touches the soul! Very articulate player and musician in every sense.
OMG....this young cat has the blues flowing in his blood. I've I wasn't watching the video, I could of sworn your were some older bluesman from the delta cross roads. Mr. Marcus King, you are in royal blood along with the late Albert King and B.B. King. After this video, I just downloaded your album.

I caught hi one night in Charlotte at Comet Grill, having gone there to hear a friend play. When my friend finishes, Marcus sets up and shreds my face off. Been a fan since that day.
I was lucky enough to see him and his band at Smokey Joe's 3 years ago. They blew me away!! Just caught their show at Tuck Fest last weekend and they rocked! Can't wait for their next local engagement.
He plays like a monster and sings just as well. Got their album on CD after watching this video - WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Looking forward to more from this young man.

Now he is playing with Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck at Crossroads. Unbelievable.
And he deserves to be there!
He has the chops for sure.
They play for free, so what...

That is not unbelievable. Marcus is ;)

The Blues is Alive & Well. Marcus is an Amazing Talent and his band already has many CD's and Live Shows under their belt long after this introduction
I havent heard someone give me the cold sweats like this since stevie ray vaughan, all that soul!!!!!!!!!!
