    I love how they describe in detail the flavors in each food item, as a foodie myself it helps me understand it better. I can tell they have tried different types of food. I am going to London this summer so their descriptions are really helpful to know if I want to try it or not. They seem natural too, so it's enjoyable to watch their videos.

Sorry if you already know, but not far from where you were standing at the end of the video, is a Pub called The George, it is an old Coaching Inn, built in 1676 it is the only surviving galleried inn left in London. it is well worth a visit, if you make it back to London one day.

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks we had an amazing time! We were lucky to be there when the USD to Pound was 1 to 1! That was. First for us. We are from San Diego, it’s one of the most expensive cities in the US. And from our trip around the world, inflation on goods is crazy everywhere but significantly worse in the US. Also in UK we noticed taxes were built into our purchase cost so the sticker price was what you pay. In the us 7.5-10% is added to the cost of anything. That coupled with tipping culture makes it even more expensive where we come from.

    • @autumn5852

    Borough Market used to be a Fruit and Veg market rivalling Covent Garden (which also used to be a Fruit and Veg market)
    If you walk the perimeter and look at the buildings you'll see where large doors used to be to take deliveries. Don't forget to look up, there's a world of architecture there.
    Cheap food? I have to question that and loudly.
    Walk down the road a ways to The Cut and find real world street food....just saying
    Enjoy London, but you'll need a lifetime to see half of it

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  5 месяцев назад +1

      Could not agree more! Thanks so much! Next time we visit we will pay closer attention to those tiny details. When we visited the US Dollar to Pound was equal (a first in our experience). And in US with tax and inflation there were actually cheaper bites in Borough Market than we can find in our home town San Diego! Maybe we will do a video here to showcase some of our favorite cheap eats! Thanks again for this awesome comment!

    This makes me kinda sad. I used to work across from this market and it was a useful place to shop for locals. I know it has now moved and seems to be a tourist attraction. Billingsgate fish market will probably be next, if it isn't already ruined. I suppose I am being dramatic but Borough was in a London wasteland so rents were cheap and Top quality produce was reasonable. Since it moved it attracts tourists, driving up rent prices. Gentrifying the place. uugh. so sad. It used to be quite a shouty place with all the traders selling Fish, Meat bread, fresh fruit, dried fruit... I could get langoustines from Scotland, fresh Figs from Morocco, and dried Mulberrys from Iran in a 30 minute visit.

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment. Gentrification can be rough. Alyssa’s best friend lives in London and relied on borough market during the pandemic when large grocers like Tesco were out of eggs. Borough market was one of the only places that had local farmers weekly bringing fruits, eggs and other local goods to sell. So I guess the small agricultural community still exists just on a smaller scale.

      We lucked out when we were there the pound and USD were equal. We do think the quality was really good for the price and it’s better to visit late in the day a lot of the vendors will offer discounts.

    I did not like the beef in the UK. Everything else was great.

      I could see that. We did have some amazing beef in South Korea later on this trip!

      They weren’t our absolute favorite of this trip either. Is there a spot you could recommend us to try? We are headed back for a short time next summer!

      What isn’t these days! We are now in Mexico and have spent quite a bit of time here in the past decade and even here prices are soaring. Our hometown in San Diego is crazy too. Got any cheap eats you could recommend us to try on our next visit?

    Why does every gen z or millennial food “critic” wear a baseball cap? I thought it was just the clueless Americans. Guess I was wrong. At least his wasn’t worn backwards. Thank heaven for small favors. Still irritating. Can’t watch it without thinking of London and Saville Row suits… and then this …

    Totally overrated over priced and you should go else where and in a decent place as you will pay the same price. - Go to Eataly and you will pay the same price for cakes etc and be in an up market place, Borough market is basically just sh*te save you r money and go elsewhere,

    • @HeresGoodTravel
      @HeresGoodTravel  4 месяца назад

      Eataly was 20 pound for pastas etc. when we were there.
