Thanks for the video. My mother's family is from Shiozawa and a couple of cousins work in Echigo Yuzawa. It's a nice place to visit and is absolutely beautiful in winter (snow season).
Great video, Carl-san! Thanks for the update - I visited this town once in my youth for a ski vacation and haven't been back. It's good to know how the town is doing now :)
Hi there! This is the best route to take: (1) hop onto the bullet train at Tokyo Station. Take one train to Ueno Station. At Ueno Station, take the Joetsu Bullet Train to Echigo Yuzawa. It should take you about 90 minutes to get there. December in Echigo Yuzawa will be BEAUTIFUL, especially with the steaming hot springs and gorgeous mountains! If you have any questions, please contact me. I'm here to help!
@@user-vf4rh2mv1i Hi there. I'm delighted that you found the video helpful. When traveling from Narita airport, I recommend doing this - (1) take the Narita Express Train from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. That will take about one hour or less. (2) From Tokyo station, take a bullet train (shinkansen) from Tokyo station to Echigo Yuzawa which will take 90 minutes or less. You can usually take the Toki Express train or the Tanigawa Express train. Later in the day, the Hakutaka Express train will also get you there. Please let me know if you need any additional assistance. I'm happy to help.
Sure! But leave early in the morning (maybe 7 AM) from either Tokyo Station or Ueno station. It will take you about 2.5 hours - 3 hours to get there. So you would be in Echigo Yuzawa by 10:00 am. Then you'll have the whole day. You'll LOVE IT.
Hi, sorry to bother you again. Is it possible to get bullet train tickets on the day at Tokyo station? Huge price difference? I don't want to risk getting them now as I don't know if there will be any delays in flights, immigrations, etc. Thank you!
Hi there. If you're only planning to use the bullet train once or twice, then you can purchase individual tickets. However, if you want to purchase a bullet train PASS, you can use it unlimited and it's cheaper. The only issue is - you must purchase a bullet train pass outside of Japan. Then, you can use the pass whe you're in Japan. If you attempt to purchase a bullet train pass (good for a week) while you're in Japan, they won't let you. It's an attempt to encourage tourism. All tourists must purchase the pass before arriving in Japan. It's a GREAT deal, too.
@@user-vf4rh2mv1i Just so you know, you'll enjoy Tokyo for about 3-4 days...but then it's going to get a little hum drum/boring. Whenever I bring people to Japan (and we see about 5-6 cities), no one ever lists Tokyo as their favorite. It's a gigantic city with a good bit to see...but after 4 days of it, you're yearning for something else...something different. Echigo Yuzawa is a great place to go, especially for the sake museum, the indoor market, food, etc. If it would interest you, the city of Niigata is very close to Echigo Yuzawa. By bullet train, it's only about 45 minutes. So, if you'd want, you could see Tokyo for about 4 or 5 days, Echigo Yuzawa for 1 or 2 days and Niigata for 1 or 2 days. In Niigata, it's famous for all of the greatest sake breweries in all of Japan. Something to consider. If I can be of any help, just let me know. 🙂
So true! LOL. I had to film that opening (next to the waterfall) about 10 times. And then, when I added it to the video and listened to it again, I raised the volume of the clip even higher...and it's STILL hard to hear! Thanks fo rthe comment!
Nice video....we are gonna stay in that little town 3 nights in May and rent a car for a day...should be great!! Can't wait!! Cheers from Toronto.
Hope your business does great! I‘m really happy to see foreignors doing business in Japan and living a great life ^_^
Thank you so much!

Convince me to go. Great video.

@@carlrosa1130thank you so much! Our flight lands in Narita at 4 pm. Hopefully there is enough time to get to Echigo Yuzawa that very same day.

@@user-vf4rh2mv1i No problem. Where are you planning to go in Japan?
@@carlrosa1130 We only have about 10 days, so probably just around Tokyo. Echigo Yuzawa is perfect for a 2-3 day trip in the winter! Thank you!
