The fact the 911 operator asked that woman to ask the killer if he wanted to talk to them and putting him in close contact with this woman is just crazy. I would have never opened my door.
Yes, that struck me as really not a good thing to do & so calmly as if they had witnessed a minor offense such as a stolen bicycle had been seen or something ...not answering their door after someone killed another with a hammer !! 😱
Umm...that woman who called 911 had put herself in close contact with him. She opened her door to him and even offered him something to drink. She was already in close contact with him before 911 had even been called.
That 911 operator should be fired immediately. I had to back it up to listen again to make sure I heard it correctly. Sure, let the killer in the house to use your phone and maybe offer him milk and cookies while you're at it. Unbelievable!
My uncle killed my grandmother..... And when I told my mom grandma was gone, the way she screamed will never leave my ears. I feel for this woman. Its one thing to lose your mom to violence, it's a whole different type of pain when the person who inflicted that violence was your literal flesh and blood. I hope she finds strength and support. I just want to hug her
When I was eight, I found my grandmother after she was murdered. The main suspect was my grandfather but the police fucked up the crime scene to the point that none of the physical evidence was admissible so pretty much every piece of evidence was thrown out. The police eventually tried to pin it on my uncle to cover up their shitty work and close the case. My uncle had an alibi and witnesses during the time the murder took place but the police hounded him until he killed himself at the age of twenty six. We cut ties with my grandfather and he drank himself to death a few years later.
@@jeffprice4376 that breaks my heart, you were just a baby. I'm sorry that happened to you. I know for me as an adult walking into that situation kinda messed me up.... No matter how long its been that stays with you. I sincerely hope you have the guidance and support you need on those days
I don't think she bursted into tears like that because the brother did it. But because they asked her when she last saw her mom, which probably made her realize she'll never see her mom again

Its like the depression phase in grieve, where it sinks in for civilians. Most people know the line from media and officials are trained to say it, when something really bad happened to someone they know and there is no doubt about it anymore that someone is dead.
@@taeguthrie4890 I'm truly sorry that happened to you ❤One of my uncles died very suddenly and completely unexpected. I will never forget my aunt, his wife, speaking at his funeral. That morning she left for work before him, so she said I love you and they gave each other a kiss. I think that's a beautiful last memory. But I always remind myself and others that the last interaction is not the most important one. All the memories you shared with a person are much more important than the last thing they said or did. The love and their life is what's most important. Not the very last words or experiences they had. The love and happiness you feel will always be bigger than the sadness. At least, I always think. I'd rather feel the pain of losing someone, than to have never known them at all. I don't know if that can bring a bit of comfort to anyone. But it helps me deal with loss
The door was already open but the operator never said open the door, they asked if it was possible to speak to him, there are other ways of passing a phone without opening the door to him, the door could of had a safety chain and passed it through the crack, or letter box or a front window....or even speaker phone through a letterbox....
@@drpepperlover502that was after the fact while they waited for 911 which took so long they had to call again just to make sure they were still coming
Ive never and I mean never been more disgusted and absolutely SHOCKED about the fact that he said he lost his virginity to his dead mothers corpse. Absolutely sickening my head hurts too
The way the police and 911 operator handled this was incredibly unsafe and ridiculous. Asking her to make direct, prolonged contact with a brutal killer by giving him the phone, and the police for not even showing up until after the second call.
This once happend to me in california. Some meth addict was kicking my door in Long beach. I got my Banelli pump action shotgun and pointed it at the door and called 911. 20-25+ minutes later, still no cops. It wasn't till i called them again and told them that I had a shotgun pointed at the door and would blast anything on the other side if it opens that they quickly came. The police are a total friggen joke. They'll come just in time to discover your murdered corpse.
This happened to me when I was 16. My mother attempted to murder my father, and the police hung up on me; called me back, and then made me hand the phone to my mother. My dad nearly died of blood loss because the ambulance took so long to dispatch, since they hung up on my first call. The last thing I wanted, was to be even 10 feet away from her in that moment. Small town run police are especially negligent.
The fact that he said he will kill again and the judge only giving 60 years and not life without parole really shows how screwed up our justice system really is.
Yeah the system is screwed. For many things they give ridiculous sentences for things that dont deserve it, and in other scenarios like this they give sentences that are not harsh enough.
I think they put the most inept detectives on the cases where the killer is ready to confess everything. I was also wishing for more insightful and aware detectives as this is such a unique opportunity to get inside the mind of a psychopath. At least they didn't fudge it up completely by cutting him off at key moments etc., as I've seen many other detectives do in these interrogations.
They actually did a pretty decent job. They were using the Reid technique. Even asking the question about what did he think he deserved at the end was part of that technique. A lot of it is about building rapport and being easy going and to act unfazed about what he shares. Lucky for them, they didn't really need to use all the techniques because the sick Loser wanted to confess. The only thing I'd criticize is their lack of empathy for the victim (the sister), but most police officer and detectives are really bad at that because they don't get enough training.
It makes me angry how the detectives treated the sister worse than the actual murderer. They showed zero sympathy to her but shook the hand of the murderer and showered him with compliments even though he had confessed EVERYTHING already…
I have been looking for anyone else that picked up on that too... I get when they're trying to extract info from someone they need to build rapport but the confession was done. Why go that extra mile and thank him and shake his hand. I just don't get it...
It was pretty gross when he shook his hand, the irony is that the murderer looked a little weirded out too, like he was thinking "I just told you the most disgusting crime, why are you lowkey congratulating me"
I’m particularly saddened to know the victim was a hospice RN. I had the honor of working with several and they’re some of the most patient, kind, empathetic, absolute professionals, and amazing people on the planet. Like angels. What a tragic loss.
It really is disgusting how they treated his sister with little to no compassion and the one cop kept insisting on telling her how her mother died, but they kept apologizing and sympathizing with the brother. They didn't really acknowledge his statement of raping the corpse and acted like he was a normal person the entire time after that.
From the way the 911 operator asked the woman to put herself directly in danger, the lack of urgency from the police, and to the way the detectives delivered the news that her mother was dead prior to asking her questions and not allowing her a moment to process, is truly heartbreaking and disgusting. Just adding to the overall atrocity of the crime itself
Yep. Crazy as hell. Imagine calling the police about a stranger outside ur front door, who’s telling u “I jus murdered someone”. And the operator asked to speak to the killer. SMH. So my safety is obviously not important. And to top it all off, the police took so long to arrive she has to call up a second time. Absolutely crazy
@seranakillian1423 I wondered too why the 911 respondent asked to speak to the murderer. Very scary response! Then they get the murderer in(?) or get close enough to offer him their phone(?) a drink(?) For real??!
Murdering your own living mother wasn’t enough, that he also had sexual intercourse with her corpse. I can’t imagine what horror it would have caused Desiree when she found out about that. What a sickening case!
Thank you, I have been going through the comment section with the video paused right after I heard the line of him saying "Oh yeah, and I lost my virginity to a corpse" in that offhanded way. Literally just scrolling with my fucking mouth agape in shock, absolutely astounded that I wasn't seeing that being mentioned in every single comment. I actually had to scroll for a while to find one that mentioned it, I have to think most people just didn't catch that part likely because many don't get that far in the video but yeah, can we talk about that? Jesus fucking Christ. My God. That's just... That's not just someone killing someone from hatred or whatever that's, fuck I don't even know what to say about it. Just think about it this way; you can't lose your virginity like that or have intercourse at all as a man unless you are aroused. So in order for him to do that, assuming he's not just saying that, like I said I am still paused I have been paused since I heard that sentence because of how absolutely shocked I am because I was not even slightly expecting to hear that here, but assuming he was not just adding that on or something, that means that after bashing in his own mother's head 20 times with a fucking hammer which I would never want to see but I can imagine how awful it would be, that he was able to get an erection and aroused enough to do that. With his mother. Honestly I would be less horrified if he had succeeded in merely strangling her, that's still enough that I would have had the same exact reaction I'm having now, but fucking hell.... At least if she was strangled to death he could imagine she was asleep, or something. Fuck. Not the best move, but just listening to the tape without the narration it sounded like the person was already in the house with them. The 911 operator never asked them to go give him the phone they asked "Can I talk with him?" That's a way to let them off the hook either by answering "No, he's outside," or, if he's standing there staring at them with a bloody hammer in his hand, to distract his attention from them to the phone call. To have him acting so casual about the whole thing I doubt the operator was taking it as seriously as they should have.

Treating a killer with kindness is not only expected and normal- it's also a valuable interrogation technique to build rapport and keep them comfortable so that they're able to disclose as much information as possible. HOWEVER; shaking the hand of a killer at the very end of an interrogation and giving him a genuine compliment by saying "I admire your mind" is flat out bizarre and disgusting. That killer will remember that moment for the rest of his time behind bars. He will see that moment as validating. Especially given the sexism behind his actions/words ("I prefer my women dead"), that handshake from another man validates his sick actions even more.

The best current estimate is that just less than 1% of all noninstitutionalized males age 18 and over are psychopaths.1 This translates to approximately 1,150,000 adult males who would meet the criteria for psychopathy in the United States today. Psychopaths are twenty to twenty-five times more likely than non-psychopaths to be in prison, four to eight times more likely to violently recidivate compared to non-psychopaths, and are resistant to most forms of treatment. So while yes, it is not likely, there will always be a number of active preditors on the loose at all times.

For myself I really don't feel any joy being alive. But I have the unrational fear that my discomfort somehow could potentially trap me in an afterlife constantly in this misery. Probably that is not a common thing given how absolutely unlikely and scientificly absurd that fear is but I think happy people are less scared of dying because they can go saying they lived their life like a normal person does and so their death will be normal and unspecial. I dont understand this life and going into death is the next possibility to get into another state of confusion and being unhappy without a cause. He's a true psychopath. It's extremely disturbing. It comes across as cruel, cold and evil to us. But to them it's just... normal. There are plenty of people who are born with psychopathy who do not turn into murderers, and go on to live a normal and even good life. But it's still strange to think that they really don't feel any natural empathy or remorse. In a way, I think it makes those who overcome the disability and lead good lives admirable.

The scariest thing about all of it is that he's almost certainly not unique, there's almost certainly many like him among us who are ticking time bombs.
I think his mom was too nice to him... You can't cuddle your kids until they kill you. Parents please be hard on your children so they can be well behaved and have discipline. There is no shame having your kid in a mental asylum if necessary.
Unfortunately, trying to get decent medical care, both physical and mental, is practically impossible. People in the medical field don't care, or take the time to listen to patients or their parents. it's hard to believe with family members- even if you see signs. you don't want to believe it, because you couldn't possibly fathom doing anything like it is so out of the realm of possibility.
It's actually common among psychopathic killers and serial killers since the detectives probably studied it at some point they weren't surprised that he did, it's text book killer really. That and there isn't anything to be gained from him detailing how and why he had sex with her corpse it isn't a therapy session, they focused on making him admit that he isn't insane so he can't plead insanity and suggest his own sentence, once he did all that they wrapped it up within a minute.
Right! My thoughts exactly it was almost like they ignored it and the voice over guy didn’t mention it either. So extremely weird and horrifying. And the damn detective telling him he respects him and shaking his hand, WTF!
the way he said "No, I never GOT to do that" in reference to using the knife is so sick, like he's upset he didn't get the chance because she died too quickly
That one detective needs to quit his day job and find something else to do. He was unempathetic towards the sister and even INVALIDATED her by saying "it's not crazy". YES IT IS. It doesn't matter if her brother confessed to the murder. The fact that her brother did anything in that realm IS CRAZY...and then to the extent that he did it is beyond crazy. And that would be one of my first reactions if I heard anything like that - "this is crazy". They should have given her time and space to process what they just told her. They should have had a gentle female detective in the room as well so that she had some sort of moral support from a motherly figure. The way they handled this was altogether too cold, rushed and invalidating. She's a strong lady and she did great, but they really could have handled it so much better.
He said it's not crazy because if they say it is, it can be used in court be the defence to give the guy a lesser sentence in a hospital rather than maximum in prison. Everything they say will be used in court, even at this early stage, they are maintaining a paper trail to convict the guy
he probably has. corpus christi constantly has a shortage of cops and the turnover here is crazy high. mostly because alot of the cops here are criminals themselves I expect they either get caught and let go or get bored.
All he was concerned with was getting information to "nail the criminal". They want to "prove" he was competent at the time so he can't get plea of insanity. BUT to go in agro to the point of arguing thr victim's choice of words is crazy to me. Not to mention callous. And probably not productive to fight against what you're being told because because it conflicts with the narrative you want to tell. But hey, I'm not a cop. That poor woman, can't imagine what it's like to grieve two family members, one alive and the other not, while law enforcement is acting that cold.
This was a tough video to get through. The sister’s interview was very hard to watch for me, I couldn’t stop crying for her. All the disgusting details about what happened was hard to hear too. I hope she’s getting by alright
If you watch the full cut of this interrogation, they are planning on driving him around after the interview to find the bike and other evidence he dumped. They still needed his cooperation which is probably why they're still being cordial.
Yeah I got super annoyed at that part aswell. Like what if he had escaped during that time? Sure he willingly surrendered at first, but he could have had a change of heart just as easily cuz the thought of going to jail can make people become irrational again, what if he had decided he wanted to take more people out before he gets put away and gone around stabbing random people??? Anything could have happened during that time. Dealing with unhinged people you can't predict what's gonna happen. Jesus Christ I would take a serious look at why that police department was so tardy when there is a confirmed killer roaming the area. Surely every minor thing would be dropped immediately and the closest available cop would get there ASAP??? Some of them out on not as urgent police work could have come there ASAP and been at the scene within 5 minutes tops!
To paraphrase the Supreme Court ruling on the case Gonzalez vs Castle Rock......"law enforcement officers have no legal or Constitutional duty to protect anyone"
This is crazy to see on this channel, I lived in the apartment across from them when this happened and was home. This was wild and still is and people still talk about it in our city & community.
he's just so straightforward about it. so calm. it's scary because that's the type who you wouldn't expect it of. if he had no friends and no one he revealed his secret strange desires to, then no one could have expected him to do this or anything like it. and i feel really bad for the cat.
What’s scary to think about is how many more people like him are out here just walking around out in public every day. Walking that tight rope of trying to keep control while wanting and waiting to do the same thing or something similar. Ugh! He reminds me of Edmund Kemper. I’m so relieved he turned himself in because he would have definitely turned into a serial killer.
Very disturbing but it’s the reality, more people need help out there but never gets picked up before it’s too late. Humans are strange specie, like it’s obviously his fault but we get delt different cards and some are just born whiteout all the fuses intact.
He reminded me tv show Dexter... when someone with no empathy had to learn how to behave...when such people have nobody to teach them how to live -they will always end up killers. The interrogator greeting the man at the end was a punch in the stomach, it seems like he's thanking him for this excruciating story for us. Sometimes I wonder why binge watch these videos, maybe I don't need to see something like this ever again.
This makes me nervous with my mom and brother. I had to leave because he is a psycho. I tried to bring her with me but she wanted to stay because “he needs help”. He is a 39 year old man who needs mental help. Not mommys help.
They had already put themselves in danger. They had already opened the door and were having a conversation with him lol. It's not like the operator asked them to open the already open door.
Well, I live in Corpus and work in Robstown. This is a daily occurrence down here. So many murders. The police are overworked but a lot of them are also involved in crime related activities. This is a dangerous place to live. I don't have the money to leave. I would if I could.
I've listened to a lot of murder cases, yet this one always makes me sick to my stomach. He does not deserve to be treated with humanity, not for what he did. Killing your parent is awful, but defiling her corpse as he did? May he forever suffer.
They only treated him like that to get his confession but totally agree he needs to rot in a straight jack in a padded room and without meds to make him feel better or sleep…just let him throw himself against 4 walls the rest of his life and only feed him cat food 🤷🏻♀️
Why the heck would EWU put the sisters face like that as their cover photo?? That is so disrespectful. She committed no crime why should you promote her and not her evil brother. Has she not suffered enough??
The complete lack of reaction from the detectives when he said, "I lost my virginity to a corpse," is actually seriously impressive. Obviously we can't see their facial expressions but to keep it together so completely that you can counteract that instinctual reaction to say "what?" and make sure you did actually hear him say something so unbelievable takes a lot of control. I wonder if they knew of the sexual assault beforehand? It would still be shocking to hear him admit it but for that to come completely out of the blue (side note - how eager was he to tell them all these details? Some killers take hours to confess to even the most minor lie in their story, let alone give an actual confession, here we're not even 5 minutes in and he's telling them - without the subject even being raised - that he raped his mother's corpse and that was his first time (small mercy for those who want to find it, at least it didn't last long)) and they have no reaction but "ok" would be something really impressive.
@@juliee.7072 yeah I did notice that. He pulled it back very quickly though, in his defence it's not every day you hear someone admit to raping their mother's corpse, killing and raping a cat, explaining that a body's just a piece of meat at the end of the day, animal or human, and then topping it with the cherry "I prefer my women dead" all in the space of about 15 minutes. A bow of the head as the only reaction to all that is a massive achievement in my eyes. I'm fairly calm in extreme situations but I don't know if I would have been able to bite my tongue after all that. It's...a lot. 🤣
Thank you for sparing us his testimony of the Necrophiliac, bestiality act with the cat... I don't remember where I saw this case before, but they let him share every detail... his definitely a broken, twisted, and unsavable individual.
I believe he could be saved, were we able to convert him into a servitor. You know, punch out the useless parts of the brain that allowed him to even form these thoughts and replace them with the hum of an array of circuits and machinery that make him useful to society again.
The fact the 911 operator asked that woman to ask the killer if he wanted to talk to them and putting him in close contact with this woman is just crazy. I would have never opened my door.
I know right. That was so messed up.
I couldn't agree more. I would've told the 911 operator to come over and ask him herself.

Yep, getting him to admit to writing the notes, at least the day before, with plans and timing from how long he’s had the thoughts, etc… goes to premeditation and to try to take (temporary) insanity at the time off the table
Yeah except idk that people like this are really trustworthy narrators and generally just use others to relive their crimes and get off from the retelling and the shock it evokes in others. Nothing short of a dangerous criminal who's a danger to society.

There were some seriously low IQs in that room. The detectives, the killer, even the sister. They all seem kinda dumb.
They can’t say it’s crazy because it gives his defense an advantage to claim insanity.
