A woman suffering from postpartum psychosis should NEVER have been given the baby she tried to kill IN FRONT OF THE COPS!! The justice system failed that sweet baby girl!
This is where her aunt needs to have action taken against her…she should have never let her enter the house at all

As did the aunt imho. Who, voluntarily took legal custody AND made legal promises to NOT allow the mother to be around the child (let alone LIVE with her & care for her, unsupervised) . I mean, if not for the aunt's irresponsibility..... this could not & would not have been able to happen. :( That poor baby was failed by many.

They didn't give her the baby. They gave the baby to her aunt, and the aunt gave her full access.
I feel ZERO sympathy for Deborah. You didn't just fail to follow instructions intended for the safety of the baby, you were willing to leave an unmedicated Deasia unattended with the baby.
And her “sobs” are pure theater + fear of incarceration (as she said on the 911 call)! She clearly didn’t care about the baby either, because she failed to protect her despite volunteering to do so, she failed to keep the psychotic “mother” away from her, she was sleeping while the murder occurred, and her first realization while on the phone with dispatch was “I’m gonna go to jail” rather than vocalizing her concern for the child! Also, again, her “crying” was an act for the most part! End of story!!!!

Deborah was partly to blame and she should be held accountable. Her son was obviously frustrated with his mother's incompetence and hysterics. DeAsia should have never ever been allowed near that baby. What a piece of crap.

She was worried about jail cuz in her eyes she was the reason the baby was dead. The mother was never supposed to be living with the child she was supposed to be supervised with her.
I think sadly, in some way, he knew it would end with the baby dead. Maybe that's why he was so collected when they found it. He probably had hope the courts would give him the baby, that the mom would come to her senses, or something, but knew also how bad it could be..

@@louniece1650 think about the statement you just made for a second. I totally understand that situations like this seem clear as day, that the mother is completely unfit to raise a child. But that has to be a tough job, being the deciding factor to split up a family. Or even worse, not splitting up that family and then the mother does something horrible. It's not always as easy as it seems from the outside.
There's not enough foster families available and if you house kids in institutions, they will be abused and neglected. I am speaking from first hand experience. There are no good options.

I agree. But this was the aunts fault. She wasn't supposed to be there around the child. She said on the 911 call. That she wasn't supposed to be here. So partly cps did there job. They tried to allow the aunt to raise the child but she let her niece stay there anyway.
I feel so bad for Robert’s child that went to the kitchen and was the first one to notice that horrific scene of the poor baby girl…
Hopefully she/he gets over that and can forget about it, what a SAD and heartbreaking story…😢💔

that statement right there made me question some things because some people are saying postpartum, but I can't think of anyone who has been in postpartum and thought of doing that. Her statement stated that putting the knife in the baby's hand so it looked like the baby had done it. She knew what she did. It's like she was making sure she was supposedly covering her tracks. so she was having a thought process in her mind.
@@marteeloughren2715 she had postpartum psychosis which is different than just postpartum depression which is msot talked about. not all psychosis is violent but it definitely can get that way, whereas yeah with depression pretty much never.
Even hearing this it’s still so hard to understand postpartum.

"The baby is deceased" has to be one of the most chilling things said in an almost perfectly calm manner. Imagine what would have been done if Robert never came in the house that day.
I wholeheartedly believe that if Robert never came home (and this is a theory) Debora would have woken up to Dede and her deceased child and they would have came up with a way to hide the body to cover up their crimes. Absolutely disgusting. I fully believe they would even tried to hide that precious baby and cover it up....

@@djharris6822 that is also another theory but the way she immediately cried as the operator started to talk, showed me shes trying to portray an innocent image even when she very clearly put the baby in harms way by violating a HUGE rule of not having the unstable mother around the child. I also noticed how she kept saying "im going to jail" as that was all she was worried about. That also made me feel like she would've tried to cover it up in a fit of anxiety or fear.

@@janessastrachan3682 she had post partum depression, she only had ill intent towards her baby, thus why she separated herself from the rest of the house. Post partum is a VERY complicated condition but 9/10 the mother only tries to harm her offspring.

Its clearly a traumatic thing to experience and some people express themselves differently. I guarantee you if that happened to your child or love one, let’s see how you act. You don’t know until it’s you. The lady is experiencing shock. I’ve dealt with mental shock before, you’ll be amazed how shock makes you act. I’ve seen someone rolling on the ground barking . It’s not a time to be insensitive. 🙄🙄🙄

My baby girl is 13 😢.... I was starved, strangled and beat while pregnant..... I.... I don't believe in postpartum depression....pregnancy doesn't make you want to kill your baby, that's something else.

@@ellebell9139 Postpartum Rage, Depression, and Psychosis is a very real thing and the more people deny it, the less knowledge that can be spread on those matters. Everyone's experience is different.
@@ellebell9139 postpartum mental health issues are extremely real. It’s not because of trauma that they occur,though. It’s because of chemical imbalances in the brain caused after birth in some mothers. While in pregnancy, a massive amount of different hormones are going on in the body, but then during birth, and then immediately after birth, those horror, moans and chemicals can go completely out of whack. Serotonin levels or dopamine may drop massively, oxytocin levels may drop massively, and a dozen other chemicals, that I am not clever enough to fully understand, change or rise or shift in a way that can be devastating to the human brain. Many, many women experience postpartum depression. One of my very best friends suffered severe postpartum depression after having her healthy baby boy, who she spent nine months, so excited for. She ended up having to be placed in-patient for almost a week because she became a threat to herself. And the reason for that, is because she found that she did not care about her child at the time that it was a newborn. She said that she saw this precious little person that she had been so excited to meet, and a few days after bringing him home, she felt nothing. And that horrified her, made her feel like an absolutely horrible human and even worse mother. But once she was treated for what was going on, all of those symptoms went away, and she remains one of the most dedicated mothers I have ever met to this day. Postpartum psychosis is thankfully much rarer, but it is unfortunately absolutely real, and it is very poorly understood. Look at the before photos of this woman, and look at her photos at the time of her being interviewed. You can see her mental illness, clearly. This was an extremely ill woman, and an innocent child, that her family and that society failed. She should never have been in a position that she could have done what she did, because, given time and adequate treatment, she likely would have recovered from this, and she may well have become a really wonderful mom. That’s why this type of mental disorder is so devastating: it is very sudden onset, and there is no way of predicting it, and it is very rarely diagnosed, until tragedy strikes.
TLDR: don’t let your own suffering and experience cloud the fact that mental illness is real, especially when it comes to women, because that allows cases like this to continue happening.

When petty rules take over common sense. On a completely different scale I read about this guy who developed an aircraft bomber for the US navy during WW2. He and his company spent all that money on their own and it was a fine airplane but even though they liked it they got mad at him for not following already existing procedures and wouldnt even consider it. To some people these kind of things are everything.

My DL expired by a couple days. My bank gave me a lil warning that they would do it "this time" but get it handled..it's actually against the law to accept expired ID. Hence = this situation.
We really need to take post-partum depression and psycosis more seriously. She should have been hospitalized until she was stable.

Post partum psychosis is real. I had it after my daughter was born and it was terrifying. I actually can't remember much about the first sixteen months of my baby's life. I had hallucinations and really believed that the baby was there to harm me. It was dreadful and I'll never forget it. I never got to this stage but I remember the baby feeding and she just put her hand up and I slapped her hand down as I thought she was going to punch me. She was three months old. How ridiculous that sounds. It was at that point that I knew I needed help and I saw my doctor who prescribed medication which helped. 18 years later I still feel guilty about slapping my daughters hand but I know that I was Ill now and irrational. Also lack of sleep didn't help the situation. I know now that I've been a good mum and have a beautiful, kind daughter and I have finally forgiven myself. Post partum psychosis is terrifying and there should be more information out there for new mums.

I knew about post partum depression but I didn't know about pp psychosis.
How serious and common it is. We need more research and information on women's health.

My friend said she kept seeing red and images of herself throwing her baby against the wall.
I never got to that stage but I kept envisioning myself harming my baby, like these intrusive thoughts and weird impulses to do unspeakable things to my baby and myself, even though I loved my baby so much. When I yelled at her for crying as infants do, I knew I needed help. Sleep deprivation definitely doesn't help, and my husband was unable to come help because of immigration issues so I was alone. It was all up to me to make sure I was okay and that my baby was okay. I was diagnosed with PPD and felt much better once I got on medication. They also suggested I stop breastfeeding as that may improve my mood but I decided to just supplement with formula so I could rest more. Still working through my guilt but these stories made me more vigilant in my own health care. Of course, I know that not everyone has access to adequate healthcare or education on the matter. I feel so bad for those mothers who didn't find help or refused it and then something happens because they will one day realize what they have done and that they can never take it back, and people's lives are forever changed.
Rarely I make comments on these videos. But here's what I think: Deasia is mentally unwell. Post-partum Depression is real and can cause serious problems for the mother who's going through it. Watching both of Deasia's interrogations, the first one you can clearly tell that her mental state is completely absent, which makes sense for someone who has not been taking her medication as prescribed. The second interview, she seems more alert, as she is now on her require medications, I presume. Still, her mental instability is there, and the way the last interview was conducted, I noticed that statements were being provided for Deasia to agree on, rather than have her tell the whole story. I think that yes, she should be held accountable for the crime, and I also believe that the best place for her, is in psychiatric care. Also, Deasia's aunt should face some charges, for allowing Deasia to move in, when that was THE major condition for her to receive custody of the Janiah.
She didn’t have regular post partum depression, she had post partum psychosis. I wish people would take women’s issues more seriously. Everyone failed her and her baby
The way Robert responded to his mother’s dramatics & the 911 call says a lot about his maturity. I bet he had to play parent a lot growing up & is a wonderful father to his own kids & all children

Unless a woman cold blooded murder somebody like that excuse for a woman did here, there is close to 0 accountability. Even in the case of murder, for whatever reason, if a man and woman commit a horrific crime like murder together, the women ALWAYS receive less time than the man.
@@milana2020I think what's not that common anymore is people regarding men in general as being just as decent as anyone else. Men are, frankly, demonized. You can thank feminism for this. Men in general need to be given just as much credit as anyone else, but they aren't. So that is why, when you have a situation where it becomes impossible to deny that a particular man was being a good person, then people clap their hands and act like he's being a very good boy. Yes, he's a good man, and so are a lot of men.
Aunt Debra's need for attention is disgusting. I've lost a daughter I know the depth of that pain. I haven't felt the need to be the center of attention during the hardest, sadist part of my existence.
One of the rare cases where child services did their jobs correctly. This does lie on the Aunt. All the extra theatrics she put on was because she felt bad, as she should’ve. Not only did she allow her near the baby, she put the baby solely in her care overnight without supervision.
In my opinion Robert did INCREDIBLY well handling the situation and I think that should really be highlighted. He kept calm and made sure everyone important to him were safe and okay

I completely agree with that young man that (in the interrogation room) said she was being selfish by repeatedly asking for help. Yes, it must have been horrific to see but the CHILDREN are the ones who originally found the baby in that shape...what about them and what they need? Also, she is the one who allowed this to happen by letting a known volatile and mentally unwell mother to be in her house when she wasn't legally allowed to be there. Also, the 911 dispatcher was right when she was first on the phone and didn't realize anyone could hear her, she was calm. All of a sudden, once she realized she had an audience, the hysterics kick in. I firmly believe this is all an act to minimize the amount of trouble she's in for not abiding by the legal demands to not allow the mother in her home.
I wonder if the reason Robert handled the situation so well was because he wasn't all that surprised that this happened.
The most morally depraved person is the father who abandoned the child. Don’t abandon or abuse children.
Post-partum psychosis needs to be closely monitored. Any woman who suffers from it and is discovered to be lying about taking the medicine shouldn’t be anywhere near their children.

I don't think it's that simple.
First medical staff have their hands tied with how long they can have a psych hold.
Second when you release a patient you can't be make them be compliant with taking their meds. You can try to leave that in the hands of a relative or friend but that's no guarantee that they can do it, or that they will ask for help for fear of having the person turn against them.
@@vitalucas9452 It's not about making them take their meds. Its about not letting them near the kids. They have every right to not take their meds. But the proper authorities should have just as many rights as to take the child from the uncompliant mother
@Vita Lucas I have my own mental health history, nothing this crazy, but when I only threatened my own life I had a week long grippy sock vacation, I'm surprised that after she almost killed her child they didn't put her in a more intensive inpatient facility, but that just really comes back to the lack of Healthcare in this country

No where did the caller claim the killer was in the house. He was concerned the killer (he was assuming it wasn’t his cousin at the time) took Dede and fled the home. If you’re gonna sh!t on the dispatcher, don’t embellish.
The Aunt screaming she’s going to jail instead of screaming about her grand niece shows you who she really cared about. You’re looking at your own flesh and blood in the worst possible scenario and you can only think about how it’s gonna negatively impact your life.

Poverty stricken members of society thrive off of narcissistic, selfish acts usually accompanied with drugs and alcohol.... Her hootin and wailing is normal behavior believe it or not. I used to do public work for 10 years thinking I could make an actual difference, even if it just was for a couple souls.... They don't want help. They want YOU to SERVE Them. It was always so easy for them to come up with absolutely convincing lies. They're truly masters of manipulation....

She knew she did wrong by leaving the little baby with the mother and was probably scared of getting punished. The cries were pure selfishness... shame on her... for a second i thought she was the killer. This could have been prevented!!! The old lady was not able to care for a young baby... so sad...

Honestly, I'm not going to hold that against her. That child has only been in her care for maybe a little over a week I think (March 6-March 15) so she hasn't even developed that much of an emotional attachment to the baby. So her first instinctual reaction to the death of the little baby made sense. Blood relation has very little to do with the level of love she would have for the baby in this case if she's only known it for a short while.
What does make her the asshole is the fact that she accepted the role of looking after the baby when she knows she's been dealing with health problems and personal problems that could affect the level of care the baby receives. She didn't take seriously the fact that her niece was going through a scary medical illness and let her have access to the baby because she couldn't handle looking after the baby by herself. She was incredibly irresponsible which led to the death of an innocent baby. I'm not done watching the whole video but I wouldn't be shocked if she was charged for negligence because her actions are a prime example of that.
Edit: Oh god, I'm shaking my head at the family. Cindy, Debora's niece and Deasia's sister, was the one who took charge and said the baby needed to stay with the family and knew that Debora was reluctant to take the baby in. I'm side eying her to the extreme right now. And now that I think about it, Deasia has been staying with Debora even before she got temporary custody of the baby. And no one in the family thought this was an issue? This whole family needs to self-reflect on themselves.
LOL, Cindy is talking to the investigator about how Deasia isn't allowed around the baby in such a calm voice as if this whole thing has nothing to do with her. I'm okay with Debora crying her eyes out because it sounds like the guilt is eating her up inside but damn, Cindy is acting so cold blooded about this whole thing. She's got blood on her hands too. She's the one who said she'd pitch in and help and she's been in the know about Deasia staying with Debora too. I'm speechless.
I'm not sure how I feel about Deasia trying to shift the blame of who killed Janiyah. On one hand, I know she's been diagnosed with Post Partum Psychosis but after treatment and what looks to be a very sober mind, she's trying deflect responsibility of what happened to her baby. All the evidence pointed to her and her immediate response is "I didn't do it" and that her aunt did it. She didn't even need to blame her aunt here, she could have just said I don't know what happened. She pointed the finger to someone who took her in when she was at her lowest. It doesn't really reflect well on her. If she had any love left for her daughter, she owes it to her to tell the truth instead of running away from it.
Holy crap, just got to the part where Deasia confessed to what happened. It made me feel sick. Considering how she was able to remember the gruesome details of what occurred, it's clear she didn't want to take responsibility of what she did and tried to blame her aunt for it. So all those denials before of saying she can't have done it and that her aunt did it and how she just doesn't know... she knew this whole time. It's one thing to acknowledge she wasn't in her right mind during the act of committing the crime, but after the fact? After getting sobered up and trying to push the blame on someone else when she knew she was the one who did it... if the police didn't have damning evidence on her, would she have admitted to it? It's a scary thought.

A close friend almost like a sister of mine had post natal psychosis. It's no joke & not like post natal depression. It's serious & definitely can lead to death. Luckily her partner & myself cared for the baby & helped her get inpatient treatment for the pnp. Most women who have this condition also have it for following pregnancies. Deborah could have definitely avoided this whole tragic situation.

This is so sad. People actively experiencing psychosis can not be trusted to take medication because their symptoms (ie disconnect from reality) prevents them from thinking clearly/rationally. The healthcare system in the US fails so many…in other countries where healthcare costs are covered by taxes and healthcare is reliably available to everyone, a mother who is psychotic and had just tried to harm her baby in front of police would *never* be discharged after FIVE DAYS, then trusted to take medication regularly with no oversight. Five days is not enough time for psychosis to resolve, and until psychosis resolves the person is not thinking rationally. Such a sad situation :(

She was trying to get ahold of the situation I'm sure, especially considering that s knowing that a baby was brutally murdered was pretty horrible but it seems as tho Deborah was more concerned for herself than what was actually happening. She knew she was at fault. She knew that, while she didn't actually murder that baby, she definitely had a MAJOR hand in it.
I've watched hundreds of these, and this detective is one of the most skilled I have EVER seen. He understood the exact psychological angle he needed to take. Well done.

You have to listen to the whole recording- the dispatcher totally escalated the situation. The poor guy had to tell her in like, five different ways that the baby was beyond rescue, before she finally told him the cops were on route.

Jesus, I hope Robert's child who first found the baby is able to work through such a trauma. Robert is a fantastic father for ushering his children out of the house. I've heard cases where people just let the kids stay at the scene, despite being advised to remove the children. Robert's an outstanding example of how to handle this type of situation. I hope he and his children are get through this with the best possible outcome for a circumstance like this.

My partner had postpartum psychosis with our first born, she would have really bad thoughts about hurting him and kept telling me to take him away. Her mindset really wasn’t good, she could not sleep and had voices in her head and hallucinations.
Luckily there was space in a mother and baby unit (Basically a mental hospital for new mothers) she gradually got better and was released after 2 months.
Not something I ever want to go through again, postpartum psychosis really is awful and can make you do crazy things if not treated correctly and swiftly.
It is unfortunate that a lot of people do not know how to deal with it. Deasia's blank stares in the first interview is something I was very familiar with.
All is very well with us now and have long forgotten this incident.

i know what she did was unspeakable, but people are being so inconsiderate, yes, she killed her baby, and thats unacceptable, but that shits real, and ive seen it first hand. my mom was pregnant 12 (maybe more) times, and what it does to a person is insane. its really hard to grasp how they can be loving and fine one second and want to harm or kill the baby the next second. its a struggle. i hope baby janiyah rests in peace, and i hope deasia gets the help she needs. ive never experienced it first hand, so i cant say i completely understand, but from what my family has told me, and what ive seen with my own eyes, my mom had it happen to her more than once, and that it was absolute hell to help with and deal with for both parties. i feel bad for everyone.
@@shr0om1ez I never realized till I had my first baby just how much havoc pregnancy and birth can wreak on the body. Nobody really ever talks about the darker side of pregnancy. I knew of course that it could be uncomfortable, unpleasant and bring out or worsen certain health problems but didn't know the extent till I was pregnant with my son. My pregnancy was a nightmare and while I didn't have post partum psychosis, I did have severe post partum depression among other pysch symptoms that I had never had before. OCD, intrusive thoughts, paranoia, agoraphobia and panic attacks. I didn't even get into all the physical problems I had and still have even after 8 years. Post partum psychosis and depression are horrible, I feel for any woman who has to go through it. Having a baby is supposed to be an amazing moment in a woman's life, and its awful that these types of ailments exist :/

I feel awful for Robert and that poor innocent baby. The sad reality is that the aunt is even more to blame than the mother because at least the mother is certifiably nuts. The aunt was of sound mind and chose to place that baby in danger. How was she only given 13 years and the aunt not given any time?? Disgusting court system!! What was done to that poor baby should be done to the mother!! That’s justice! Poor Robert has no competent family members. He is on his own.
Debora's breakdown likely comes from the fact she knows she fucked up by letting Deasia in the home, I understand she was overwhelmed but she knowingly endangered the child by doing so. I feel for Robert and his children, he clearly has had to deal with his mother a LOT, and his children witnessing that poor baby is just...horrific, no child should have that image burned into their mind.

Robert was amazing. Not only did he witness the outcome of a brutal murder, he also witnessed his kids witness it, and still stayed so strong throughout. I hope that Robert and his kids get any help they need
A buddy of mine responded to this scene (EMS). He has such bad PTSD that he had to quit his job and is struggling day to day. I can only imagine what Robert and his kids are going through mentally.
@@michaelwoodall9295 Man that’s so messed up. This isn’t the 1st time I’ve heard something like this. I was working as a laborer for a pipe surveying company & a new guy started. He said he’d just left a job at the coroners office or whoever goes to retrieve the bodies & put them in the bags to transports them. He was only working there for about 2 weeks when they were called to pick up the body of an infant/toddler & it really fucked him up. Usually they’ll have at least 2 guys come to carry out the bodies. But he said he remembers holding the baby’s lil body bag in his arms carrying them to the van by himself. He said he was never the same. He quit the next day. And they made pretty good money.

@@groberts80 the dispatcher was great actually. That's what they're trained to do, and yes re asking questions is standard to make sure you have a clear view on the situation. Emergency Services need to know what they're walking into.

I feel so bad for that little girl, and for her family members who discovered her. I also can't help but feel for Deasia. Postpartum psychosis and depression are very real, and psychosis in particular requires serious intervention and dedication by all involved in order for it to be overcome. The way Deasia speaks is fully in line with someone suffering from severe mental issues, just so detached from reality. She is still at fault, obviously, but I can't help but think how horrific it must be for her when she's lucid, properly medicated, and realizing fully what she did.

Robert is one hell of a man. You can tell he’s the glue that held that family together. I just hate to think of the terrible things he must have seen and gone through in his life to be able to keep it together while dealing with what he saw in that kitchen, what his children saw and what his mother saw. It could be argued he went through the most trauma (besides the baby) that day yet he was the only one able to keep his wits about him and get the right things in motion to move forward after what his cousin did.
i agree with you in saying he pretty much went thru the most trauma of anybody in that situation, as a son, cousin, father and human. so sad and i hope he and his kids are well.

When social workers and psychologists say that someone shouldn’t be around someone, the family needs to cooperate. This is what happens when people don’t listen. It’s sickening and depressing that this baby has suffered something so disgusting. Deasia is sick.
The court should have done a better job of looking into who they give care of a child to some one without doing. A complete background

A family member was given temporary custody of a baby until the mother was well enough to resume raising them, this is fairly common. The aunt ignoring orders and letting the mother come around was stupid, but not something that could have been predicted. It's unfortunately very common for family members to ignore psychologists when they say that someone is too dangerous to be around someone else, they don't want to believe it.

The system is faulty the way they expected a mentally ill person to "be responsible" and take their meds is crazy. She should have been hospitalized. This is a chemical imbalance from the trauma of child birth. They need a facility that allows both mother and child to reside and still bond while being medicated and monitored by professionals

My wife went through PPP after giving birth to our first. She was perfectly fine before without any mental issue but the moment her hormones dropped, some wires in her brain got crossed and she literally said "I'm going crazy". There was delusions, lack of sleep, manic, bipolar. It was a tough year for us but she stuck to the psychiatrist treatment and finally got back to herself around a year later.
This is case is really tragic..

I was on the border of this. The delusions started and I immediately got help. It’s really scary. I have a hard time with this case because she didn’t even try to help herself. Or seemed to not want to.
You sticking by her and helping her through that time was a tremendous help. Trust me without family understanding and support, it only makes things worst. I can truly admit that if my husband didn’t take the time to notice that things weren’t right and help me through ppp after our first child, I’m not sure I would have been able to do it alone while trying to raise our baby. Some of the things he told me, that I was saying and doing, I can’t remember up until this day. It was frightening.
By the time we had our second daughter 10 yrs later, we had preventative measures in place just in case I ended up suffering from ppp again, and fortunately those measures we had in place helped both of us.
It is very common at some level and I wish ppl would take it more seriously. It's heartbreaking.

That woman is traumatized. Her nervous system is fucked up.
First off, "Aunt Debbie" knew she was taking on too much by fostering the baby, but she still did it. She knew the mother of the baby was not to be around her, but she still allowed it. It's not like the mom showed up at her house unexpectedly either, the Aunt went and helped her get her things together, brought her back to her home and gave her a bedroom. Remember this too, the baby's crib WAS IN THE MOTHER'S BEDROOM. Also, the Aunt stated she couldn't do it on her own, she had already raised her own children and didn't want to have to raise someone else's baby. When the Aunt came into the interrogation room freaking out, screaming how it was her fault, she was going to jail, she knew, and it was clear at that point, that she violated the orders to not allow the mother to be around the baby, but she not only allowed her near her, she moved her into her home with the baby AND the crib was in the mother's bedroom. Aunt Debbie said it was her fault and she was going to jail because she clearly was well aware that she violated the orders and agreement and, sadly, is also partially responsible for the baby's brutal murder.
Oh I think she’s completely responsible - mom was not capable of making sane decisions and her aunt was told by a damn court not to let her near the baby. She’s the entire reason the baby is dead. Yeah I know mom did the deed…but you can’t expect someone suffering from psychosis to not do psychotic things!
CPS pretty much insisted the Aunt take on the,baby,she was in i’ll health ,so should not of had CPs insist she took on the baby ,then give her no help or support .
It is stated that due to her physical illness she was reluctant too take on the baby,.
I’ll bet CPS wasn’t giving the aunt was financial aid or given so she pay for help.
The aunt Was i’ll and left to cope alone ,offered the right aid,she would would probably not of had the mother their.
It seems that the mother in the delusion of post partial illness the mother believed the baby was an incarnate demon so she killed here .
The whole tragedy could have been avoided with plenty of help in caring for her nieces baby girl .

@@BookishDark most people are not trained on how to deal with relatives suffering from psychosis and would never foresee this kind of horror, a lot of people take mental illness lightly and aren’t able to grasp how fast things can escalate until something absolutely horrible happens, like in this unfortunate tragedy. I’m sure she already has to live with this guilt everyday without having random commenters online blaming her for causing this horrific murder. My heart goes out to her as I hope she is able to forgive herself for her mistakes and find the strength to move on from this all.
She was definitely responsible for the demise of that child, she knowingly let her niece with clear mental health issues be with the baby. She sat there and helped her be close to the baby, she should be sentenced as well for disobeying orders and basically assisting in this poor child’s death.
I love how blunt this detective is. He's just straight up, he isn't being overly nice or overly mean, he just asks straight up questions and points things out when the answers are clearly incorrect. I love this interrogation.
It's such a dirty work though, let's be real. Dirty as in the same way an attorney's work is dirty. Or it's better if I say "not honest work". The detective's breakthrough moment was when he said James had asked to talk to her, James said he was the only one that could get through to her and her family still loved her and worried about her. What if ALL THAT is something this detective doesn't actually know and it's another interrogation tactic? I can't say I appreciate anybody doing such manipulations, Beano. Can you?

@@kinsey7298 you don't get it, if they became combative and served their intentions then they run the risk of her shutting down. Do you really think they wanted to be nice? They were lying when they basically told her good people can harm babies. When you see detectives being friendly with the likes of Edmund Kemper, sharing meals with Todd Kohlhepp, or asking someone like Nick Browning if he wants anything, they are building rapport. If they served only their feelings, they'd never get confessions or answers.
I'd pretty much agree that this is fucked up regardless of how reasonable he manages to sound. Fact is, she refused to talk to the police (literally, not talking is refusing to talk) and they interrogated her for six hours instead of getting her a lawyer. You don't have rights unless you say the magic words. It's ridiculous.
This is just too heartbreaking and disturbing.
I Can’t help but disagree with the sentencing, I believe she deserves life in a psychiatric ward. I’m no psychologist but if someone can explain in justify her state mind.
My god, I can’t understand the law process that allow 15 years to life with a chance of parole.

Yes it is. I had it and it literally takes your sanity away. Hallucinations, delusions, rages, completely insane. It takes so much to come out of it. Months of treatment and I am just now able to return to my sanity. It is so much worse than people think.

Debbie needs to have jail time. She not only went directly went against the agreement, but let the exact person the agreement was made for near the child unsupervised. Even tho she knew deassa has psychosis. Though I think deassa would have snapped on someone eventually, that poor child is dead due to Debbie's negligence.
The mother is clearly insane no way the aunt thought she was in her right frame of mind to be around let alone live with the baby.

No, the aunt new she wasn't right in the mind atm. She is just as much to blame. She knew the conditions and she ignored them. Not to mention, she's crying and freaking out because she's going to jail, as she states herself, NOT because an infant's head was just smashed in on her kitchen counter. She did not care for that baby enough and she allowed that to happen to the baby by being absent. Of course the mother was to blame for the death but if she were monitored and gotten the help she needed (like being monitored to take her meds), that baby would most likely be alive and well today.

You can LITERALLY put the pill in their mouth, watch them swallow it, and still you wont know if they did. They can hide it under their tongue, or even try and retch it back up. Mentally ill people are capable of anything.
And I guess we watched a different video. While she did mention jail, 80% of her cries were about the baby, and poor thing, and its my fault, and I cant live with this.
