How in the fuck did CPS have reports saying that poor girl has been malnourished for years and still walked away like nothing was going on in that home and just closed the case?! The CPS caseworkers involved with this need to be held accountable for failing this poor baby.

Averyanna probably pulled the race card, told the social worker that they were only there bc she was black, that it wasn't fair, that Tylers family hated her bc she was black, and the system is against her bc she was black...then, they backed off. that is my question too. Usually the health service is involved in checking in on the child. Why was this not the case here? Did they not have family and friends visiting who would have spotted the child was living in a cage and was not being fed?

@@mammadingo9165 I would like to do something because it seems like family and friends are reluctant to step in if it doesn't benefit them and CPS seems to be extremely limited on placement availability. I just spoke to my friend yesterday who works as a paralegal under a lawyer that handles this stuff. I had this whole idea of creating new placement availability which would provide immediate safety for children, create more jobs, and reduce abandons buildings. She is going to run it by her try to see how we can go about creating a non-profit organization or something, so children will not be returned back to their abusers. I hope something good will come out of this because so many child deaths could have been prevented if they were removed in time.
the same happened to Arthur Labinjo Hughes during lockdown. Tortured and starved and mentally abused by his own father and father's girtlfriend. They too, told him no one loved him and yet he had an uncle and loving Grandmother desperate to see him after telling social services how concerned they were for his welfare. Those poor children were totally isolated and held hostage because the adults 'caring' for them, were able to lie through their teeth and were believed. I feel like the child had been dead days before. And once again the dog got walked and looked after before he thought about giving his child CPR.

so many should have, also, if i'm going to any of my 'siblings' house, or cousins, I am going to SEE every child before I leave. If child is unwell, I'll pop out and get them an extra little gift to cheer them up, and/or soup, AND lie with them, tell them stories, non of my neices and nephs would stayin bed of hours, even if unwell, they are excited to see me, then they can lie down on sfoa with blanket, but still take part/watch games I play with the other kids, they can't stand it and join in regardless of if they feel ill, if kid is SO ill they don't make an appearance, i'm seeking them out, if not there, and I can't verify where they are, I'd call cops & CPS AND keep following up, as I also don't trust CPS.

This one hits home for me. My stepmother hated me, was jealous of me, did not feed me, severely verbally abused me... my dad did absolutely nothing about it, chose her over me, and would say her and I had to work out our own issues (I was 7, she was 40). Thank God they did not have full custody of me. If that were the case, idk what would have happened to me. I still struggle with severe emotional trauma from those people (I'm 30 now). It's hard for me to fathom how fucked up some people are.

You and I have suffered a similar experience, friend. When I use to think about it, it would fill me with an endless pit of rage to the point where I wanted vengeance, because they got away with it. I too am 30 like you and I imagine we suffered exactly at the same time in our lives. I have lingering issues that I battle to control but having people that love me has truely helped me look at the past with less contempt. Even when my emotions flare, my family is there, with me always. My love for them is an ocean in comparison to my past. I hope you too have those people in your life. Good luck friend.🤝

My own mother said the same things to me as a child and while I was growing up. I actually started to believe that nobody loved me. Every relationship I had ended as I always thought they were cheating on me or felt sorry for me. It definitely messes with your head
My son has disabilities. His dad caught a girlfriend of his at the time suggesting to whip my son and looking at our son like she didn’t like him. He was 3. My ex dropped her immediately and warned anyone else he dated that he isn’t the one to tolerate any BS WHEN IT COMES to his kids. Thank goodness our kid now has a great step mom. He’s a teen now so it’s better.

As someone who was beat often and for no reason as a child by drunk and druggie parents, I can never fathom how anyone can raise a hand to someone they love, especially someone as defenseless as a child. I know my parents didn't love me because of how they acted and my heart aches for this little girl. She knew nothing but pain for the short time she lived and it isn't fair that her chances at life were taken by monsters who don't deserve one.

I got sick after my first son and was unable to have anymore kids, but we continued to grow our family by adopting 3 more kids. I don’t even think of them as adopted, like those are my kids.
Adoption is a long process sometimes but a process more people should go through, a lot of kids looking for love
Tyler is far from innocent. He definitely knew about the abuse and simply went along with it. Would have been so much better for everyone if they just gave the child to the biological mom's family. I can't understand how the father let it happen. This story breaks my heart. I would have loved that child and so many people out there would have. They could have given her up to a family. With food tossed just out of reach. No dog (who apparently didn’t have food either) would leave food on the floor untouched. I guess keeping her locked up was not enough since handcuffs were also shown along with the cage. So many people failed Cali. Almost 6 years old and only 16 lb. She sure didn’t get that small over night.

So glad you got away from them. I went through something very similar. My mom was dating my stepdad and he had started abusing me. I told her and she decided to marry him. Unfortunately my dad had already gotten remarried and had 2 kids and my stepmom wanted nothing to do with me or my sister. My dad was cheating on my mom when she got pregnant with me. I was never wanted by either parent. My stepdad shot and killed himself almost 4 years ago. Now I’m taking care of my mom, which she never did for me. But I’m happy and I have the 2 most amazing daughters in the world. I’m showing them that love, not hate makes this world a better place.

I know plenty of step parents and foster parents and adoptive parents that are way more qualified And considered a biological parent in the eyes of their kids more so than what some biological parents are considered by their own offspring.

CPS in the USA is very sketchy. There are rumors that they're involved in governmental human trafficking. They routinely fail children, and there are many children missing and who are unaccounted for. CPS workers seemingly have qualified immunity.
Lucky for me that after my mother died, the most wonderful woman in the world came into our family. I don't know if my stepmother literally saved my life, but she definitely saved my mental health and healed my broken heart. I adore her to this very day, over 50 years later. My father was a kind man who also had excellent taste in women. Here's to the GOOD stepparents of the world!

Why did CPS not remove the child from the home? They should have been charged right along with the parents.
Cps do virtually nothing. They believe the child is much better off with the biological parents even if the circumstances are bad. So unless they are forced to remove the kids they won’t do anything.

Cps spends more time investigating kids who aren't neglected than ones who are unfortunately.ive seen first hand parents get investigated over false calls who werent doing anything wrong.. but people who had calls on them who were doing bad things didnt get anything done. It's so wrong

Starvation is one of THE most painful things to experience. Between that and the beatings, she had a zero chance of survival. The father did not want to lose his drug connection, he allowed what happened. Putting the child in a dog cage is beyond nauseating.

Genuinely made me cry watching this. I'm a father to a 2 year old girl and the thought of this monster woman causing the abuse and this weak, pathetic excuse for a man, taking a blind eye to it all and contributing to the neglect is f*cking heart breaking. Just turn back the clock and give her to someone else please and If no-one else then I will take her. I'm sure we all feel the same here. She deserved so much more.

I don't even have children yet (some day God willing, please let me have babies), but these kinds of cases never fail to make me sob uncontrollably.
I don’t personally want kids, and I don’t even particularly like being around kids for longer than a “What’s up little nugget, high five” but stories like this make me want with all my heart to take these battered angels to get ice cream, buy a new toy, read them a story, tuck them into bed, and most of all just to tell them they are worthy, special, and loved. It doesn’t even have anything to do with liking children or having maternal/paternal instincts or anything in particular, it’s just humanity at its most basic. It’s stomach churning to imagine even witnessing the torture of a child, let alone inflicting it…I think any normal human adult would rather endure the suffering themselves than see a tiny innocent baby go through it. Yet there are so many stories of these people I don’t have a word strong enough to condemn, who do it or allow it to happen to THEIR OWN CHILD. Nothing the darkest corners of our world has to offer is too harsh a punishment for those people. Full stop.

Both of their sentences are too lenient, especially the stepmother’s!!! 16 pounds?? At 6 years old? She weighed LESS than 2 gallons of water. That poor little girl lived such a short, miserable life. I can’t even imagine what kind of people these are. May they eat rotten food and rot in prison and be tortured every day by what they have done to an innocent little girl. They should never, ever be allowed the freedom to walk among us.

He chose her over his daughter and mother and family. If his family was in his life on a regular basis they would have seen how much worse her condition became.

I just spent the last 30 minutes in my car sobbing after watching this video. Hearing that she would tell Cali no one loves you and then shut her away in the room alone to starve BROKE ME I was in a similar situation when I was younger and the memories of being alone and hungry in a dark room crying for days feeling so helpless and unloved will never leave me… I hate this woman with a passion, I hate that she gets to continue existing on this planet after what she did.

CPS is to blame. They checked and noticed so many things wrong and yet NEVER went back and even closed the case. I can’t imagine if she was taken from the home and placed with concerning family how she would still be here. They failed this little. Yes they did ALLL the abuse but 3 YEARS before they did that visit and could have saved her. I am so so mad that this was avoidable. Smh.
UPDATE. Let me clarify. They are to blame ALONG with the parents. I just meant the girl did not have to suffer for SO LONG if she had been removed three years PRIOR. Obviously the parents ARE TO BLAME.

At first I wondered why the man who found the body would open his friends storage boxes if they didn't smell yet, but then he said the friend rented a U-Haul for three boxes and that he'd just gotten off parole and didn't want to be put in a bad situation with drugs at his house, and I 100% understand that and commend him for looking inside instead of turning a blind eye to what he assumed was drugs or something sketchy. I hope he manages to turn his life around.
