Great method! I hope I'll never be in a stuck case situation again, but it's nice to know. Let me share how I removed a stuck case "tube" (the case head ripped out of the case!) from my sizing die: -grab a paper towel and shove it from the top of the die (where the decapping pin usually screws onto). -screw the die upside down on the press. -put a metal rod (I used a punch) where the shellholder would go. -use the leverage of the press to compress the paper towel which will in turn push out the case. -use oil and a pick to patiently rip and take the paper inside the die out.
I have had 50 cal BMGs stuck in my sizing die and I was able to get the decapping pin out and made an adapter to screw into the decapping pin hole with a grease fitting brazed primer hole closed on casing and just pumped it full of grease and casing shot out of die. I now have grease fittings for all my dies and think they work slick.
Thanks for the tip but my case still wouldn't come out until I heated the die then the case came out. I'm not sure why my Hornady die started sticking the cases but I ordered a Redding die to replace it, we will see. I used it once before and it worked ok, then it began sticking the cases . So this is only an added tip to use heat on the die. I dig a case out once before and its no fun.
Lol same here tightened the nut just pushed the Grips off got out the torch and twisted it right out I've only had .556 get stuck before nothing else ever... Yet...
Most stuck cases I have dealt with, the dies “relief hole” gets clogged. Next time it happens I’m going to try and find a punch small enough to poke a hole through the brass. Idk if it will work or not. I’ve been using a metal dowel and a hammer in my vise. It works but it’s not a preferred method. As you could damage the threading eventually I would imagine.
I just put the case head in a vice enough to deform it and turn the die with a wrench that loosens the casing. Then I tap with a soft leather mallet the die rearwards to get it off the neck expander. Just screw the die back in and keep reloading.
Same here , I tried it with a RCBS that had a .223 case stuck and a Lyman with a stuck .308 case neither worked for me , I even bought a really good pair of Milwaukee vice grips just keeps stripping the brass but not moving at all
Wow I wish I found this two nights ago. Lee directions say to remove top nut as you did and pound de-capping pin with hammer to remove the brass. Tried that, pin bent, brass still stuck. Trying oil and your method next, but I suspect I damaged my die at this point.
Same thing just happened to me. I just don’t know what caused the stuck case in the first place and I’m afraid to have it happen again. Any ideas besides disassembly and cleaning and lots of lube?
NOT ME EITHER. I even drilled and taped the primer whole with a sheet metal screw and used a series of washers and all it did is bow and strip rings of brass off the bottom
Amazingly helpful for a new reloader. Thank you for showing a way to get brass unstuck without having to go out and buy even more equipment.

I’ve been reloading off and on for over 25 years. That’s pretty slick.
Pass on the love!
Excellent video, quick & easy! Been reloading since the mid-70s and this is the best methods I've seen! Thanks again!

That's pretty trick. I have a 30-06 case that stuck yesterday. I'll definitely give this a shot. Thanks for posting this video.
great video i have been reloading since 1992 first time i seen that move easy thanks
Ty hope that helps!
Dude this is such a brilliant solution, thanks so much! Hopefully I won’t lose my .45-70 shell lmao
Looks a lot easier than the way I’ve been doing it! Thank you very much for a very good video

I've used this technique a few times. Beats having to buy a tap, drill etc. If you can get vice grips on it will come out. Faster too.
Excellent video - thanks!
Great video I actually have all these tool laying around
Oh this is way quicker than the other ways I have seen, thanks.
Great video and great information
thank you worked like a charm🎉 you got a new subscriber
Excellent information!
*This might work for straight walled pistol cases, but it doesn't work for crap with bottle necked rifle cases*
Great instructional, however that wasn't a pipe wrench, that was channel lock pliers.
Crap...
Probably works if the case isn’t all the way in the die and you can actually get a good bite with the vice grips.
God bless you brother
Great vid!!!! Thanks for sharing!!

Brilliant. Many thanks.
Excellent, thank you.
MANY AWSOME THANKS!!!!!!!!

Thank you for the tip!
Straight walled for sure! Bottle neck? I don’t think so. Sadly when rifle cases get stuck I head over to the lathe.
Unfortunately, did not work with my 223 Remington Brass and RCBS FL Die.
Maybe it works with straight walled cases. Not sure…

Noooooo

Brilliant shame I will forget when needed…….
Will rhis also work on 223? Fantastic trick!!!!
Awesome. Thank you
Excellent!!
Nice done.
Thanks
Pretty slick, beats drilling and tapping.
Genius! Worked on the first stuck case but not on the second. Any ideas?
Спасибо👍
Fucking awesome and I'm a dummy for not thinking of it myself. ❤
👍👍
Great idea thanks
Genius
Thank you!
Very smart!
Tried this with with 2 different stick cases I couldn’t get either case unstuck just striped them out
Good stuff!
This is going to save me from drilling through my decapping pin
Thumbs up!
did not work for me
Awesome!!
Genius!
👍🏻
This method didn’t even come close to working for me. Only made it more difficult to get out later. I just bought the RCBS stuck case remover.
A lot easier than drilling and tapping.
What to If the handle is stuck too.....:(?
“These 3 wrenches” WHAT? I see ONE wrench, 1 pair of vise grips and One pair of channel locks.
How's that work with 300 win mag
Fucking genius I was gonna buy a new 1 🤣
Glad it helped
Shazam !!!!!
Ya this didn’t help me at all. I should have drilled and tapped. Instead I kept drilling now I think I’m out and should just buy a new one. Damn it
I call bs. Nobody sticks a 9mm brass, they stick bottle necked rifle brass. This method may work but this example is shady.
It works. Doesn’t matter if it’s stuck or just academic.
Do u reload 50 Beowulf
Negative kinda expensive
Didn't work
NOT ME EITHER. I even drilled and taped the primer whole with a sheet metal screw and used a series of washers and all it did is bow and strip rings of brass off the bottom
Brought a Dillon xl750 and on thr first day I got brass stuck in there 🥲🤦🏾♂️
It happens to us all
