How To Do The Middle Split THE RIGHT WAY | Lazy Dancer Tips

  • Middle Split exercises are designed to improve flexibility in the hip flexors, groin, hamstrings and quadriceps. Making progress with the middle splits requires flexibility with your hip flexors and hamstrings which can be achieved at your own pace and possibility.
    MAKE SURE YOU'RE WARMED UP BEFORE DOING THE EXERCISES. Stop at bad pain and work sensibly.
    Here I have for you two videos to help you with that before we start the split routine:

    Looking after your body is the main priority. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither are the achievements that involved your body, you need patience and determination.
    In addition to these exercises you can include the front split work which will improve the possibility to achieve the middle split at its best.

    Can’t believe this video is 2 years old but still so relevant. It should honestly be the top result when people search for how to do splits. I spent the last 20mins clicking through many videos where people say “how to do a split” or “how to do splits in a day”, and it just basically tells you “step 1: start in a split”. It’s pretty useless. Thank you so much for breaking down the steps and explaining what we are working and basically taking through a whole great lesson. You have great energy too. Thank you so so much. (: you’ve got yourself a subscriber and I’m gonna be watching this tutorial on repeat till I can do it proper!

    Who knew one year ago I would happen to come across this video, no background of dancing. One year later I almost have all splits, and I can’t go a day without ballet!     Super effective! My hips are much more open and my lower back had the best release. I could reach my forehead to my thighs in sitting today! I almost feel like middle splits are in the realm of possibility for me now :D Thank you Alessia!

    for the upcoming new year i decided to get stronger so i can feel a little better about myself. stumbled across this channel and thought 'this would be good for taekwondo AND a good way to reset from sitting 10h a day at work. ive only done a few exercises in this specific video and already my lower back feels so much better. this is apparently the kind of stretching i never knew i needed. will definitely incorporate this into my routine. thank you so much!

    I am a 51 ex professional dancer. I have found your workouts and I love them. I wish that I had access to your workouts back in the day and while I was training. They would have made a difference. did you study dance science or have you just found these exercises along the way.

    I mean this. This is by far the most effective splits video. I was doing by following a video of 14 mins. This one though 24 mins, Is way way better
    I did both. And hence I can attest to this

    Thanks alot when i first decided to do hip hop dance i did not know i would need the splits so i started practicing and i was exactly 0ne foot away from the floor before i started waching your vids and now i can do the full split i am so proud of my self

    First, you're my favorite.
    I'm totally not very strong or flexible and this is helping both for my aerialist stuff in quarantine. How do you do the thing where you are in the splits and you lift up?? I can't seem to get up off the ground at all when my legs are out. I see that you are using your inner legs--how do you find the muscles? I am resolutely on the ground. lol.

    All the times I have searched RUclips for help with my middle splits... the 100"s of damn videos Ive watched, then this pops up in my reccomend, and voila, 4 days of doing these stretches and I'm about to hit the floor!🤯 Wish youtube recommended this a year ago🤨

    I've always had like 3 cm from full front split, just did these exercises for the first time after 1 month of break from ballet and any kind of stretching and went in full split for my first time ever! Can't thank you enough! 💖

    Really great video ! In 10 years of dancing, it is the first time that someone actually explains to me how my hips should be in a middle split. I've always felt I was not doing it right and this video showed it to me thank you 😊😊😊😊

    I working toward getting through 10 minutes and 14 seconds through the routine. It's tough, but it's the one routine I've tried (gone through several instructions on RUclips) that make me feel I'm activating all the areas I will need to get a middle split.

    Tried this routine for the first time after doing some lower body mobility work and decided to try my middle split afterwards. Took about 3 tries, but I touched down my middle split for the first time ever!

    I really loved this. I've been able to do my front splits on both legs for a few years but my middle splits are really bad and don't seem to be improving so hopefully these exercises will help! Will there be a part 2?

    I have tried my fair share of stretching routines in my day, but not a single one has ever targeted my hips like this! It felt so great! I am now sore in muscles I didn't even know I had.

    Hi Alexia I would like to thank you so much for your videos, I am a professional dancer from Brazil , I had to stop dancing this year after an hip enjury in the nutracker season in december last year, after six months of recovery I was so depressed to get back in shape, so I found your channel and with you I am geting back in shape and ready to come back to my routine.       Eduardo how is rehab going? Hope you are now feeling better and more motivated than ever! Never give up! I know that as soon as we get injured we feel lost and completely useless! Don't let those thoughts to your head, remember that we can get back onto our feet in no time, as long as we stay positive! Take your time and look after yourself as much as possible, don't rush back into class, and love your body. We only have one and we need to take care of it :)

    Interesting. I will definitely try it after my exams next week. I did practise for splits b4 but I'm still struggling with tight hips. This video is already giving me hope that I will get my splits. I liked watching the cat but she went away.

I follow since a couple of weeks your videos and I do the exercises as you do it. I feel my body more toned, flexible (I can do the front split now thank you so much !!)     Yikes this was SOOO helpful! I am literally 3-5 inches away from the full middle split! The part @ the end where we are in our furthest, then we go "up, then down, UP! then down, UP! then down" I was 3 seconds away from panic attack and had to stop.. it didn't actually hurt, but I definitely felt parts of me I never have before o_o it was weeeird... hahah and thank you! I didn't know that I was this close because I always started incorrectly! I will watch again for sure!

    My straddle is about 90 degrees X ____ X -- I'm going to do this a couple times a week along with Alessia's front split videos (alternating days, which I've already been working on) and the leg extension workout - and I'll let you all know how it goes! I was never very flexible when I did ballet, I was great at petite allegro and turning combinations/variations. I got injured in college in the modern dance program because there wasn't enough focus on strength & technique and I've struggled ever since with old glute/hamstring injuries that have held me back when dancing musical theatre. But I have goals now to be strong & supple so that I can dance be purely for me!

    Great video Alessia! The presence of your cat gave a spice to it. I felt a real difference in my hips. I will do it every day until I get to that middle split.

    2 weeks ago, after more than 2 months of stretching training, I made a mistake while doing a 'progressive' routine for pancake. In shorts I compressed so much my legs against my wooden bed border, that I had an injury and I realized that a little (almost invisible) flesh 'button' appeared behind my left knee (the strongest of my knees) .
    Now, I'm almost ready to re-start and regain my little progress made until that day.
    This routine seems different but very reasonable. Hope It can be more 'gentle' for me :-)
