Bruce Lee was certainly a legendary martial artist. He perfected his techniques and yes also threw out what didn’t work although some film kicks and choreography was for effect. I keep hearing from people about his speed and how this all had to do with his physical exercises. Having done martial arts for 40 years now, I am in no way saying that I could match his speed, but I greatly increased my speed through meditation! Something that hardly anyone realises. Bruce himself used to spend a lot of time on meditation. Not only for concentration/ relaxation but also for training the mind to be in a reactive state. Food for thought........
What most people seemed to not know is that in none of the footage is he even coming close to what he was capable of. His life is not threatened, there is no one trying to literally fight him to the death. He’s teaching and demonstrating don’t you get it. The guy he met at the ymca that challenged him, they thought he was dead. Bruce knocked him out cold. There’s a big difference in fighting for your life and sparring against people who are your friends and you don’t want to hurt them. And also in some of the footage he merely practicing to see what camera angles are best for movie films. I dare anyone to challenge anyone as good as he really was.

I've always been a Bruce Lee fan the majority of my life. Respecting all he accomplished in such a short time (last few years of his life). But at t he end of the day...Bruce was a "traditional martial artist". Incorporated a little from many styles he thought was useful. But in the end JKD is not a "full-contact combat style"....if one isn't conditioned and trained for full-contact...in ring or street...learning "practical moves" won't help in a real situation...for fitness or competition... Also, there are things you can only learn if you step in a ring or have fought on the street VS only practiced in a school with fellow students who hold back and are going "with the flow". for demo purposes or practice. Bruce was never a "fighter" (amateur or professional). And the fights people say he had on the street or film sets were alleged. No video footage at all. No photos. Bruce was a visionary traditional martial artist/entertainer.
Anderson C, Bruce didn't start his martial arts with Jeet kun du that was later. Bruce started teaching with a style called Jun Fan Gung Fu first a style that approached wing chung. Bruce did appear at the 1964 international karate championships, &the 1967 international karate championships. He also did have a private match with Wong Jack man. Bruce came to the United States as a martial arts instructor not as a student. Also Jim Kelly swore that Bruce Lee was untouchable he knew Bruce personally. He wasn't just an actor he was real martial artist.
@@oldschoolhiphop2275 "Bruce did appear at the 1964 international karate championships, &the 1967 international karate championships".........yes, to demonstrate, not compete. Big difference!
@@oldschoolhiphop2275 He didn't compete, that is the point (your statement made it sound like he did compete at the Karate championships). I am just correcting that oversight. I wasn't trying to be rude, just factual. Many other teachers/instructors also 'appeared' at the championships to show/demonstrate their style/skills, just like him. No, he didn't have to compete, nor does anyone. That however proves nothing either way. Yes, like many men around the world, he did get into some fights i am sure. But that in itself (as you and i were not there) really doesn't help either way. Point is this: He was exceptional and far above most of us in skill, and dedication (agreed). But, he was not the super-human-magical-god like figure some want to portray him as. 'But' if he was, we won't ever know, as we never saw him compete to show that skill under live/real world class opponents.
@@hatch1892 I never said he competed. I clearly said he appeared. You talk as if Bruce was some average guy when he wasn't. Bruce also did have other fights outside the United States. He's had several undocumented fights with real Kung fu masters in China. San Francisco Chinatown Bruce has fought masters. By the time Bruce came to America he really had no competition as there was no one who could actually compete with him he was too far advanced. Many people knew this that's what the demonstrations where for. I don't care what your opinion is on Bruce but the facts are documented.
You realize the power and speed that went into those punches are essentially unmatched right? That was a 300 pound punching bag in the beginning and he was sending the heavy bag flying like it was nothing.
With all duerespect, but I don't see nothing out of the ordinary in the sparring aessions or kicking a heavy bag while impulsing yourself a few feet, although His theory in fighting was ahead of his time.
Max is kinda right. Bruce lee was known to be very secretive with his training and use of techniques. I would doubt he would show his full power here. Plus it's a friendly sparring match. Not like you want to kills your opponent XD
He's pushing the heavy bag... not what I would call a kick more of push kick... as he was trying to punch with power... where is the speed hmmmm hitting with power at times reduces speed his hands are low... sure did he start a revolution 100% but the sparring was just bad... come on anyone with half a brain can see that.
Kyokushin-4-life it's called ' Way of the intercepting fist' , that's what he is doing in the sparring session, intercepting and ruining or ending an attack and catching his opponent off guard.
@@christrigg7171 I just find it interesting most people put Bruce on this pedestal with some of his videos you can see the beginnings of greatness but watching him hit a heavy bag compared to today's fighters its shows how far we actually have came. Most say I am putting him down, clearly he was awesome but. compared to today's fighters he was not on the same level. Very basic grappling to say the least. Much like Henry Ford built the first assembly line for autos... they were great far ahead of their time, but compared to the technology of today they were lacking.
@@henryrhee47 Absolutely wrong... UMMMM no one told me he didn't fight I looked and all you hear are rumors. henry rhee Ok, Henry I see that my arguments fall on deaf ears. Let’s agree to disagree. Cheers
Bruce Lee was a movie fighter, like Chuck Norris, Stallone or Steven Segal.
@@henryrhee47 , the only real figher who never fought anyone of any skill.
@@henryrhee47 , name one.
@@henryrhee47 , so no known fighting skills? Black Belt in what? How come nobody knows this guy, his style or what school or who he fought? We all know that black belt doesnt mean "fighter". So Bruce could have beat up some random nobody who claimed to have a black belt ...we know those guys exist.. remember when Bruce was Kato and the actor (Burt Ward) played Robin claimed he was a black belt?
@@henryrhee47 , really when you do the research you find that the only known person Bruce fought was Wong Jack Man who wasnt known to be a fighter. Other than that Bruce may have had some fights back in Hong Kong with random nobodies. There are claims of him having altercations on set with extra's but they werent fights more like Demo's and nobody knows who they were.
@@henryrhee47 , you should do some actual research before posting. You havent even answered my previous posts. So they claim he is a blackbelt in Karate and Judo yet what school did he teach? What kind of skill as a fighter? Did Bruce kill him so he never talked about losing? People can make all the claims about someone name Uechi without there being an actual person, who only has one name? What was his full name? Why did Bruce never mention this fight, he talked about fighting Wong Jack Man. Why cant anyone locate this Uechi?
Bruce Lee vs maywheather 😀😂
Bruce could kill him in just a few killing blows he was simply to strong for enybody
what's demon trations
Mayweather vs Bruce just hands
Who you got
niesha patterson that's a tough one, I say Bruce 2 cards to 1
Bruce no question...
Without boxing gloves I'd give it to Bruce, with them probably Floyd because it would greatly hinder Bruce's speed and power
All I see is an average fighter fighting amateurs.. perhaps he was a bit ahead of his time but he's just an average by today's standards.
Bruce Lee was an expert in optical illusion and therefore used flashy movements on the screen in order to appear better than he actually was. The G.O.A.T. of combat with a compiling record of 0W-0D-0L. This is the real fake lee - that's all he got. The man was decent but only a shadow behind the "myth" and the "legend" that is Bruce Lee. He managed to manipulate a legion of fanboys still to this date almost 5 decades after his demise.
The art of fighting without fighting he said - yeah exactly little Brucie because you pretended to be a fighter without actually fighting HAHAHAHA 🤪😝🤣

Did Bruce Lee ever fight in the ring or not?
@@henryrhee47 cool
He fought a single boxing match. He was one of 2 others entered at his weight in a High School boxing tournament since he had no experience he was given a bye round and fought for 1st place.
@@henryrhee47 , there were only 2 schools in the tournament and 2 plus Bruce at his weight. Do some research before you post. Did you ever wonder why Bruce never once mentioned this tournament but mentioned winning the Cha Cha contest?
I thought the bag was 700 pounds not 300 pounds
That is a 80lbs bag
Its gotten bigger in retelling, kind of like Bruce fighting/.
@@hatch1892 Compete for what? he was a teacher not a student. Bruce didn't have to compete. Also he fought Wong Jack man.

Huge fan of BL, but this is so lame. Don't see anything special. Just a guy punching and kicking.
The proper phrase is actually 'with all due respect', not 'with all disrespect'. It is funny when you say it like that, though. :)
Because what you see is what you can only see with your very limited eyes. Keep on watching !
+Carlos Alfonso A True Master Never Shows His TRUE STRENGTHS In The Eyes of The Public, That's Something You Are Still Yet To Discover.
Max is kinda right. Bruce lee was known to be very secretive with his training and use of techniques. I would doubt he would show his full power here.
Plus it's a friendly sparring match. Not like you want to kills your opponent XD
Nonsense!
He's pushing the heavy bag... not what I would call a kick more of push kick... as he was trying to punch with power... where is the speed hmmmm hitting with power at times reduces speed his hands are low... sure did he start a revolution 100% but the sparring was just bad... come on anyone with half a brain can see that.
how about i see you pushing a heavy bag that fast lmfao
@@henryrhee47 Where when who ???? I hear everyone say OHHHHH he fought but literally there is maybe one person ever named...
@@henryrhee47 Absolutely wrong... UMMMM no one told me he didn't fight I looked and all you hear are rumors. I know you can't name people because he didn't fight like that. break it down, he had limited grappling, very limited.
