    In a potential "Situation," I choose a more 'passive' stance. If I
    suspect a guy might be about to start something---I simply hold
    my hands in front of my chest, palms OUT...as if to say, "I really
    do not want to DO this." But from that position, I can both react,
    and MOVE very quickly; I've trained myself to do so.
    In this way, I provide a possible way to prevent a fight in the first
    place.

      after a few years privately practicing my martial art, i've also noticed the "surrendering hands" are the best compromise in defense-offense, as well as forming some kind of "prison bars shield" in front of you (notice what your forearms are forming when you surrender, 2 vertical bars in front of you, plus your palms, that can shield you from a lot already; injuries on arms are survivable, hits on your head and torso are more fatal). it doesn't appear like i'm readying for a fight, which is a plus point in case i am investigated by the police, i appear innocent, i look like i was just defending myself.

(2) While the Straight Blast certainly is a good technique, I don't know that I would label it as one of the deadliest. I've sparred with guys who, if they were able to block the first punch, then they were able to block them ALL. It has to be used at the right time.

      Welcome.

    • @BlueFang714
      @BlueFang714 6 лет назад +3

      I would recommend you do the wing chun regardless of what you may think of your physical limitations unless you're legitimately at the point where you have a lot of difficulty doing basic movement. If you're capable of something like jogging, and have full mobility, it should be good. It'll teach you good body mechanics that even if aren't used for competition may come in handy in a pinch, and may help you prevent future health issues. Even with my wife, I simply teach her the stance just so she can realign her back because she'll start getting pain. Wing Chun teaches you to stack the spine, which helps alleviate stress in the lower back. That's just an example.
      It can be done with little stress if that's what you want.
      I'd also recommend Tai Chi. Personally I think Tai Chi mechanics go more in depth than Wing Chun, and carry the same benefits of understanding your body and how to prevent injuries that you may have been leading up to for a decade or longer due to improper alignments or unnecessary stress on ligaments etc. You don't need to perform like an athlete with either of these two styles and both have meditative focuses as well to at least some degree. They both teach you to fight without muscular resistance to strenght when unnecessary, so the stress shouldn't be too high for you so long as you take your time with it.
      Muay Thai and Juijitsu on the other hand no matter what will require that level of physical strain that may be difficult for you. You could also look into other internal martial arts like Xing Yi, or Ba Gua. They all take a gentle approach, but can be applied in a very stressful manner and can be taught in the manner of someone doing Muay Thai or Jiujitsu, but don't have to be.
      I'm sure any instructor would be willing to work with you at the pace you require, even if it has to be a once or twice a month private class. Some places are good with private classes since they're more pricey. One Wing Chun school was a bit of a distance away. Their policy was if you do 2 private classes you're free to show up to any public class you want.
      But besides all that, internal arts in many cases preserve the health aspect which is great for someone concerned with their physical body. It'll if nothing else gently make you more limber and maybe take away some chronic pain. But internal arts are also applied externally, and something like Tai Chi can create massive force through their biomechanics because they took the time to understand the body.

      Please watch mma videos. Get into mma. I promise this is coming from someone that wants to help you. Watch ufc fights, they are really high level fights. You see what works, everything is allowed. Fight likd them, it's proven to work you can watch. You can learn a LOT by yourself. But you will need someone, a good friend maybe whos a good teacher and knows how to throw a punch show you the mechanics. If not, look up drills for each punch on youtube. Yes you heard me right, you ll find out real fast on your own by comparing your jab to other fighters'. You need to learn every single punch, your punches need to at least be able to hurt someone, it s the hard truth. Then, after you re confident you csn put your whole body iinto a hook, work on your guard. Start learning feints , parrying, hand fighting, move on to kicks learn how to kick. It s harder than it looks. To throw a proper high kick you ll need to rep those low kicks and body kicks, get your hips in them... get into mma forget other 'martial arts'

    Stomping the knee sounds so insanely inhumane for me for some reason...
    Just the amount of pain, I can only imagine, is probably hell.
    I'd just resolve to a taser, I think.

    My son is currently in a Dojo that is teaching him Kung Fu, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Ninjutsu, and Karate. He loves it, because he is learning 5 arts at once without having to take 5 classes. All this for the price of one and the instructors are top notch.

      "I fear not the man who has practiced 10000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10000 times." - Bruce Lee your son will be mediocre at all instead of mastering one. Far better off picking one focus and mastering it. Far more value in that than in your walmart style class.

      tropical that’s an awful lot all at once - I’ve studied 5 arts but that’s over 31 years - 2 arts simultaneously now and it can get confusing.

    You can also finger jab and they'll react just enough to throw off your intended point of attack and you'll break your finger and that hand will be fooked and ultimately taken outta outta the fight. Personal, I don't want to even think about a potential broken finger in specially in a fight so I prefer to sacrifice the extra 3" and use an open palm instead. An open palm hit to the nose can/will make your opponents eyes water, blurring their vision for future attacks or a speedy get way and depending on how it's delivered will send their nose to into the back of their head. Very effective and the chances of you hurting yourself are greatly decreased... But it's whatever tickles your pickle.

    Inside punch beats outside punch but biu tze cuts under the inside punch. Chain punch is over the top, biu tze goes under the bottom. Just opposite as chain punch but a great tool to have in the toolbox. Try it with punches also.....that's a freebee..........

    I'm new to your channel as of the other day... I was looking for self-improvement discipline motivation and sales and business Improvement... I see you're well adapt in Self Defense and fighting techniques as well... Very good I like that... I was a Recon Ranger Special Forces in the United Marine Corps and sometimes business can be like War so this is good and you never know what happens when you are out and about... Most people don't know how to fight, especially in the streets... The idea is to end it in less than 2 seconds and take out your attackers most important vital areas immediately making them helpless so you can getaway or beat the crap out of them so they can't get up and do it again... I was accustomed to fighting 2 3 4 5 6 7 people at a time in the streets and anybody that got near me would be on the ground in less than a second... and I never lost ... Keep up the good work I like your style... Adios from the mountains of Guatemala...

    • @myecolife4333
      @myecolife4333 6 лет назад

      the only reason I normally don't rake an attackers eyes is because it'll end my fun too fast because they will be incapacitated to be able to fight... Sometimes I want to have a little fun with them and if they are screaming in agony and pain and can't see, well where is the fun in that? But I guess if it was a matter of life and death in a very serious situation then I would rip their eyes out definitely knock their teeth out and the list goes on.... these days I really try to just walk away from idiots and be happy but you need to know things like he is teaching just in case... Since I've readjusted my attitude, nobody ever messes with me anymore or I should say it's very rare for someone to bother me these days... thank God

    For the bil sao and the kick I agree fully. However, the ¨Blast Punch¨ from the end of Siu Lim Tao and Cham Kiu were explained very differently by Wong Shun Leung (who is all over RUclips). According to WSL, these chain punches are defensive, like the counter punches in boxing. They are trying to keep the opponent from landing a punch to your head. This seems reasonable to me when I think about what happens if my first punch has no or very little effect. Throwing another punch at the same target is one of my worst options because the other guy will side-step, back-step, rotate, block or launch a counter-attack. So it makes little sense to me to try to batter my way in with machinegun-like punches. If my first one does not work, I will attack somewhere else and with a different technique.

    Use the JKD stance to extend the eye gouge by adding the length of the shoulder to the strike. Use the side kick to the knee cap for longer range and more power. Instead of chain punching flat fisted, turn your fist inwards slightly which would align all four sharp edges of the knuckles to the target, maximizing damage.

    Dan Lok I subscribed to your channel because I'm going through a tough time and I really liked the way you broke down sales and the business world. I have no idea what to do but I'm training in traditional Japanese karate. I had no idea when I was scrolling through different martial arts videos and I found this. I was like is that Dan Lok? Looked down and had to leave this comment. I'm a lobster that's grown too big for its shell. I'm uncomfortable with my life. I'm a blank slate. It's my do-over time. I'm your pupil at this point. I'd love to chat if there's any way we can talk, I'd love the opportunity. Thanks man. Btw, I subscribed this morning. You've already had an impact on my life
