Dude, i have wrestled 1988-2002.This coach is explaining good.I have wrestled greco-roman, free style, our folk style and oil wrestling. But this coach gives good information.
Great job of explaining the rules coach! Perfect job by your two wrestlers as well - it is very difficult for a couple of highly competitive wrestlers to slow down and be used for demonstration purposes but these young men humble themselves, work well together, and are doing a perfect job so props to them!
Nice description. Thanks, coach. I reffed a match last weekend with really young guys, and there was one that had that problem with the full nelson when he tried to switch halfs. And, of course, there were a ton of locked hands. The other problem with little kids is that their headgear can be so big that it is hard to not grab it.
Just getting back into wrestling now that my son has started. I didn't remember a lot of this from my wrestling days, and some I probably never knew. Thanks for the great demo and explanation!
Boy does this bring back memories! I wrestled a long time and never knew all those locking hands rules, good lord. But you are right it was just automatic to adjust.
I literally was throwing around guy and I only loss because idk when I was locking hands I also wear glasses so it’s kinda hard to see where my coach says I’m locking
I wish the refs would get consistent on reaction time with the body lock…more often than not they call locking hands the second they hit the mat …I never get reaction time
@@Martial-Mat folk was "born" from catch, it is in essence catch without submissions. The emphasis of folk is about control rather than finishing a fight (via knock out or submission). As far as I understand it there was political infighting in the catch community about the use of certain submissions being too useful so they slowly all got banned till folk was made, but from that we got a new style of wrestling and lessons to be learned. The rules may be silly but the way they are organized is really useful at developing ground control
@@kaiceecrane3884 If it was just a way of drilling control, I'd appreciate, if as you suggest, it came as a result of bickering, then not so much. The idea of removing holds because they are TOO effective seems crazy to me. Things like taht are EXACTLY why I stopped participating in refereeed fighting. Fighting to gain a referee's approval (usually one not all that skilled) was making me a worse tactician.
Man i wrestled for 7 years and never knew you could lock hands in a near fall situation

This is so amazing but the big wobbly wrist bands might be my favorite part.❤
Am learning wrestling as an adult, and this is so helpful. Thanks so much
Really appreciate you explaining these rules. I just started wrestling in an old man wrestling club from a BJJ background and needed these videos.
This is just an absolutely awesome explanation and demonstration of the rules.
I love it.
I wish I could give it two thumbs up!
I could stop laughing when coach Brian said these rules are pretty complicated asked the boys their face and response "no" lmao😂
That was great!!! Thanks coach. Big thumbs up!!

Fantastic explanation. No way it could have worked without the guys on the mat.

Great Job. Good information. So coaching is so important...Like me...
Definitely gonna have to watch this a couple times to wrap my head around the all locking hands rules 😅

Thank you. It is excellent explanation
Very instructive
Awesome video!
I won 3 of 4 of my first matches with that bear hug to near fall and had no idea what I was doing 😂
Love your videos wish you had a school in New York City in Brooklyn
"You're not allowed to choke.... "
this is super helpful. I wonder which has more rules, wrestling or bjj
Definitely wrestling
Wrestling technique country folk wrestling technique closer to martial arts
Adam Sandler is a good coach!

So would it be counted as a take down while interlocking from the neutral position straight into a near fall position?
Yes!
A huge part of the rule sets of most martial arts are almost completely arbitrary, but some of these just seem insanely convoluted.
They are basically just preventing 1) submissions, and 2) stalling.
@@kallepikku4991 Why would you want to prevent submissions?
@@Martial-Mat because it's folkstyle wrestling and not submission wrestling

you know all these illegal holds in amateur wrestling are all perfectly legal in MMA.
If I lock my hands for a gator roll in folk style is that ok bcuz it’s considered a head lock or would that be illegal?
It’s a headlock. The locking hands rule has to do with locking around the body or both legs.
This dude looks like Adam Sandler
What is illegal in wrestling is LEGAL in BJJ (with probably a few exceptions, of course.)
Greco Roman and free style dont allow Lock hands also ?
No they do allow locking hands.
This is illegal in youth wrestling for good reason. His head bounced off the canvas.
:)

Who wiggles there foot when there laying on the belly weirdo
Folkstyle wrestling desperately needs a push-out point and give up the locked hands garbage!
