Keep the OEM carb, the fuel is leaking from the needle seat (small O-ring needs replaced that goes around the seat). The 500 HO had a bigger carb than standard 500. Also need to run 0W-40 engine oil to keep the cam lubed on those, can use a Wix 51358. PN for the carb O-ring is NAPA # 730-5017, OEM #3130533. The shifter base has two O-rings (OEM O-ring is # 3233076) that contain a bath of 0W-40 oil to keep the shifter free. The 500 HOs were awesome 4 wheelers.
Some countries you gotta have the run switch with off to both sides, so in a panic, you dont hit it the wrong way and not kill the motor when you need too in an emergency.
You gotta clean the copper where the brushes run on They were definitely very corroded and dirty just never seen you clean them don't know if you did or not.
