i would say that Scottish artist SOPHIE was a very important artist that went mostly unmentioned in this video apart from her being in the PC Music collective.
I would say shes more akin to like Bubblegum bass and Deconstructed Club than what Hyperpop became bc it took all the superficial elements of what she essentially pioneered
Kero Kero Bonito was also (kind of I think?) an influence on and precursor to hyperpop, they have a lot of the same soundboard obsession in their music, and they also have a lot of nostalgic genre bending in their discography
Your videos feel like falling into a cave where the only thing that greets you it's a goblin that has a cd called "cool tunes", I really like that, thank you for your magical service to the community.
Not really. You can listen to so much in the genre without first encountering SOPHIE. For example, I've been listening to the genre for some time and still haven't been drawn to her projects. I don't think it's offensive to go without mentioning her. I never actually heard of her until she sadly died 🤷♂
@@pthumerian5017 its js pretty disrespectful not mentioning her like when trying to understand the hyerpop history n sound, she laid alot of the foundations for early hyerpop to actually exist.
There's something about the deadpan delivery mixed with the unhinged visuals that is simultaneously stimulating but not overly stimulating. Makes you slow down and focus a bit
this feels like goniloc but instead of schizophrenic bastardized history of metal subgenres it's schizophrenic bastardized history of electronic subgenres. i love it.
Could you do a video on the Grausamkeit fanbase? Not on Bsod himself, nobody needs to hear more about Bsod, but I feel the Grausamkeit fanbase needs dealing with, yes that last part was also an open threat to them (for legal reasons that was a joke).
while the term "hyperpop" might not have been literally invented by spotify, they were the ones to label the scene with that specific word, giving it that meaning. just because people happened to have used the same word previously doesn't mean that spotify using it this way isn't any less cynical
I actually looked it up due to this video. Like it since I listen to many types of techno and a lot of bubblegum pop but it’s like if one of those artists did acid before mixing and combined the two. Also you weren’t wrong that some mixes work and some do not. It’s like an IPA Some are good and some are pure shit
I created my own subgenre of extreme edm/industrial hip hop Not through using gabber kicks for retro latin freestyle beats, no that was just the intentional part for like 20% of time Not through making a playlist for umpteen different niche genres using aggrobass as a catch-all term No Through being alone on an island with nobody helping me so i can only make badly mixed outsider music that nobody but me can enjoy, because its easier to just make idiosyncratic caterwaul Than it is to be a generic copycat within the genres you wanna emulate
I have no idea why i like hyperpop bevause its objectively bad, but its so bad that it blocks any bad thoughts and makes you feel whatever kind of hell theyre singing about. So its pretty good
I am a kaigai idol and I've JUST NOW discovered this music genre! What do you think, is this music the kind that is more appreciated from ppl? It suits me but I wish to understand how ppl see this hyperpop.

Mainstream hyper pop sucks, maybe because I discovered it back in 2016 listening to underground artists at the time and then with my interest into dark music themes it just intertwined and now I’m not so interested into what’s popular right now. A newer song that released recently that I liked is “Dancing Nihilist” by Pathetic
I don't understand genres, I don't know anything about the type of people who listen to hyperpop because I only talk to my close friends but I love 100 gecs
Before watching this, I was like, what is hyperpop? And immediately my mind went to nightcore. Good, so there is a connection there. With absolutely 0 knowledge about it, other than the name hyperpop, I was sorta right. 😎 Sorry, I will cease the tooting of that horn which is in my possession. It doesn't fit the theme of this video anyway. Horns are analogue, we want digital! Yeah, I know sampling is also a part, but I choose to ignore it. Also, those sounds are easy to recreate digitally via synthesis. Well, an ensemble is. Individual expressive horn play is quite difficult and impractical, but I digress… Neat video! 👍 If you are up for it, I know you mostly dwell in the metal-area of the genre-scape, I would love to see your take on: Acid. (i.e. the Roland-TB 303 centred music, that started in the late 80s, In your country in fact). Acid house? Acid trance? Acid hardtrace? Acidcore/tekno? They all merge into one another. And later, acid just became a flavour you can add to “insert EDM-genre”. The 303 with the crazy filter modulation going (which I associate with acid) can be found in virtually any genre of electronic music is my point… But I digress again. Anyway, think about it. Acid! (the genre, not (necessarily) lysergic).

needed at the very least a mention of the enormous influence that SOPHIE had on the genre's inception and development
talking about hyperpop, PC Music and Charli XCX without mentioning SOPHIE is insane btw
