  • This Chocolate Pie is a classic dessert recipe that everyone will love. A tender, buttery homemade pie crust filled with a decadent chocolate filling, this pie is perfect for any get together as you can make it ahead of time as it has to set in the fridge. The filling is softer than my chocolate silk pie, with a light, silky, rich character that you'll love!

    You can literally put all the ingredients except the butter and vanilla in the pot at the same time and cook on medium heat until thickened. No need to temper the eggs. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla and then pour into the crust. The end result is exactly the same. Learned how to make chocolate pies from my grandmother.

    This is my son's fave pie. Also, I need to tell you, I have a scale I didn't use much, but decided to use the other day. So much more convenient. Instead of a bunch of measuring cups to clean, I have the measuring bowl to clean! And of course, the improved accuracy.

      My ex MIL made this all the time. But she used a graham cracker crust. It's actually a recipe that used to be featured on Borden's canned milk wayyyyy back when. I thought I'd never see anyone else make this. I had never seen anyone make it before her or since she passed. I honestly don't know how come it's not more popular. It's so creamy and good!

  • @Simsane
    @Simsane Год назад

    Is your crust docked? I am only asking because I thought I saw teeny holes from a fork. I'm not saying it's wrong, actually kind of the opposite. See, I really don't know how to make a prebaked pie crust that doesn't shrink like crazy. I learned about using foil and some type of weight (dried beans, rice, even sugar) but no one ever says if you are supposed to dock it before putting in the parchment/foil and weights.
