    This pie is absolutely wonderful! Two days later and halfway through the pie, my husband came home with strawberries. Oh yes, I had to cut one up and eat it with my slice of chocolate cream pie. Wow, such a treat! Thank you for sharing this recipe Marie, and it was so easy to make!

    You were amazing and I adore the pie crust recipe and this entire video. You are very detailed and everything you say is clear and makes sense and it makes me feel now that I can once again make an excellent piecrust. The best piecrust I ever made was when I was 18 years old and made a homemade apple pie my first six weeks in college. Period, I was never able to make the pie crust again and lost complete courage in myself. So now I think I can and it’s because of your wonderful recipe and because of the detailed way you explained it. You seem to be extremely on the ball absolutely darling.

    When watching your video on how to make pie pastry (for me) you give exact measurements which is exactly what I need. A lot of pie pastries insinuate go by the feel of the dough. If you are trying to learn how do you go by feel?
    Once you make this pie pastry several of times you will learn how it’s to feel, how to repair the pastry, what it needs help with, etc.
    Thank you so much for your video and I can’t wait to try it. 💙

      Hi Nancy. I have used lard in pie crusts, bread and other dishes and it is FABULOUS! It adds a great flavor without being "too much" and made pastries extra flakey and light. You are lucky to have non-commercial lard. By the way, if you pour the hot rendered lard into loaf pans and freeze it, you can slice up portions, wrap them in waxed paper and re-freeze. That way one piggie's lard will last quite a while and you'll have a good stash of lard for baking, cooking. Home fries (potatoes) made with lard is AWESOME !!!

    This recipe looks great but I have a recipe for chocolate cream pie that I have always used and everybody loves it and I’m a little nervous about changing it. (I’m 67) my daughter always wants me to bring this pie at Thanksgiving. When you added the egg yolks to the dry ingredients my chin hit the ground because I was always taught to temper the egg yolks with some of the hot liquid. Also you use chocolate chips and I’ve always used unsweetened bakers chocolate. I want to make your recipe but in my head I am thinking “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it“😂. I was wondering if using chocolate chips would make the pie sweeter because my recipe uses the same amount of sugar.🤷‍♀️ I just found your channel yesterday and I love your recipes and you’re teaching of how to do them.❤

    • @marieskitchen
      @marieskitchen  Год назад +2

      Hi Robin! Thanks for watching 🥰 I’d stick with your usual recipe for Thanksgiving 👍🏻 No reason to change if it works well and everyone loves it! I’m going to show some more custard pies soon, so stay tuned for those … you can give my technique a try with one of those when there’s a little less pressure 😅 Hugs, Marie

    It's rare to find chocolate cream pies in bakeries or in grocery stores. My Mom used to make them as well as lemon meringue pie. She made the crust for both that was layered and cooked but more like a phyllo dough.....not crumbly. It didnt look browned but was cooked. She often used meringue to top the chocolate cream pie, too. She used unsweetened chocolate in lieu of semi-sweet.🥧🥟
