This is my chocolate pie recipe I've used for decades....got from a Good Housekeeping Mag so long ago. It is the best! My daughter always wants it for her birthday.
Yes, it is a delicious chocolate pie recipe!!! I can absolutely see why your daughter wanted this for her birthday! A good chocolate pie is hard to beat!!! You can too with fresh whipped cream or add a meringue….of course plain is also delicious! 😋 Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed day! Happy New Year 🥳
That is one gorgeous pie! One other way to use homemade chocolate pudding or pie filling is to spoon it warm over plain cupcakes that you split vertically and spoon the chocolate over them and top with whipped cream. My mother made that when I was growing up. I will definitely try your recipe. It looks so chocolatey and velvety. Yum!
My grandma made chocolate and lemon pies all the time. I miss them so much! I asked her one day to show me how to make them so i could write it down. She says...a handful of this, a pinch of this, a half a handful of this.. in and on.. 😂😂😂😂
That was my mom to. I didn’t make my first pie till 4 years ago. It was just pumpkin with store bought pie crust but 2 friends came over and totaled 1 pie, lol. But I sure miss my mom simple pies, her chocolate, lemon and coconut cream.
Back in the fifties I can remember my mom making pies. She'd make one chocolate and one lemon at the same time. Home made pie crust. Likely she used jello pudding mixes. Way before instant so she had to cook them. Once the pies were cool she'd make a meringue from scratch and put it on top of the pies. Perhaps two and a half inches or more tall. Those were the best pies. I think if you're doing a chocolate pie meringue will make it far better.
Looking at it, watching the ingredients it looks like the one my mom would make. Now, my aunt would make this fancy one but truth be told I preferred my mom’s. My mom didn’t put anything on top. I do remember just like this woman my mom would constantly stir it to keep it from sticking. You can put a bit of dark cocoa mix if you like it darker in looks and taste.
Looks good. I've been hungry for chocolate pie, so will make this. I think I'll add 1/2 tsp of instant coffee granules for a richer chocolate/mocha flavor.
That would make it extra rich and delicious! Thank you, I like the bright colors of the top and it is very versatile. I have actually worn it for a few videos. Have a blessed weekend. 🤗
You are a sweet girl . The recipe was awesome and easy to follow. I am glad I found your channel!! I will enjoy being a subscriber. I am going to try more of your recipes. 😋🤩
The dry ingredients sift better.. I have cooked the chocolate in my microwave .. comes out delicious then add meringue .. but yours is beautiful and how my momma made hers..
My husband and I love that kind of pie. I will have to make. How big is your s and p collection? You always have pretty ones on the stove. Keep the great recipes coming.
I use this recipe but like to add half a bar of dark Cadbury chocolate or a whole bar if I only have the milk Cadbury. It gives it an additional rich flavor. If I use the milk, pull back in the granulated sugar.
Thank you! These were a gift from a friend several years ago and I don’t know where she purchased them. They are cute and I love them too! Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed the video, recipe, and my salt/pepper shakers too! Have a blessed day! 🤗😊🤗
I have not made it with a sugar substitute; however, I feel it would work just fine. Many of the sugar substitutes available now measure the same as sugar. I’m sure you are much more familiar with these than I am. Please let me know if you try it and the one that works best. I would be interested in your results. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed weekend!!! 🤗😊🤗
You can use any of the following depending on your specific situation: arrowroot powder (similar to cornstarch and you will need to dissolve in water first- use a 1:1 ratio), potato starch (use 1:1 ratio), tapioca flour (works very well when making a pudding-use 2:1 ratio), rice flour (may need a little more than cornstarch- not sure of exact but may need a smidge more than 1:1), or all-purpose flour (easy to find but may not thicken as well). There may be more, but these are what I’m familiar with. I hope this helps and provides you some alternative choices. Thanks for watching and your question. Have a blessed evening and a happy Thanksgiving! 🍁 🦃🍽
Do you mean vanilla pudding? If so, watch my Homemade Banana Pudding video. The pudding portion is vanilla pudding. I have an adult son with egg allergy. I am always so happy to find a classic like this with no eggs.
You can put plastic wrap over the top , before putting in the fridge, to keep it from forming a skin on top of pie. Looks good 👍!
Pie looks great! Would have loved to finish off the pot - was always the favorite part!
I'm glad I found this, I want to make one for Thanksgiving
Exactly like the one my grandma and I have made. We've alway put a meringue on ours...from the south. 😄
definitely needs a meringue😋

What a beautiful pie! I will have to make this chocolate treat for my Grandson!❤
Like ur top. Very pretty.
Evaporated milk makes a good rich pie filling, I use 1 can of milk add enough water to make 3 cups.
That would make it extra rich and delicious! Thank you, I like the bright colors of the top and it is very versatile. I have actually worn it for a few videos. Have a blessed weekend. 🤗
One of my favorite desserts. Thanks Steph!
God bless you 😊
Thanks Steph, I'm glad you don't use eggs in your oie... I love your chessboard in the back.

I'm going to try this ❤
It's alot like mine. But I use milk or evaporated milk and I melt in choc chips and vanilla. It's So creamy and Velvety! And delish! 😊😊❤
The dry ingredients sift better.. I have cooked the chocolate in my microwave .. comes out delicious then add meringue .. but yours is beautiful and how my momma made hers..
Love it❤ Can you do lemon flavor? If so what ingredients can be made?
I make mine home made so good

I’m going to be making this ❤

0:40 Better to just prick it with the fork workout piecing it. This keeps the crust dry.
Is there a reason why you do not use egg yolks. Does that make a difference at all
What is the vanilla sauce ?
Pie looks amazing, but where can I get your salt and pepper containers. Soooo adorable!! ❤

I’d add some choc chips for more choc flavor!
That looks so good. I am diabetic. Can this recipe be made with a non-sugar substitute?

HEY STEPHANIE, I AM GOING TO MAKE IT FOR THANKSGIVING! WHAT CAN I USE TO SUBSTITUTE THE CORN STARCH? PLEASE ADVISE?

MILNOTS THE BEST!😊
If you add the coco & sugar stired together it will break up the coco.
If chocolate break you out,, try a homemade vanilla custard or white chocolate 😂
Where is the recipe
Can I use baking cocoa, unsweetened cocoa powder
Yes, it should work just fine. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a blessed evening. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
You need eggs in a chocolate pie.
Be better with a home made crust.
Hello. Scraping your teeth with a fork is unbearable. You have great recipes though
