@@pjfireball2577 Wait really? It’s strange that they advertise full-body tracking to be with the ultimate tracker, but don’t do the same with the face tracking.
Tbh the only downside i see is fresnel lenses, definitely a miss Using the XR2 gen 1 is fine as it's gonna be a PCVR headset (The vive store is empty), meaning that as long as the chip can decode the image wirelessly without too much latency, it's good enough, and since it uses displayport for wired, the processor goes unused I think it's almost my perfect headset, specially with rising mods for adding foveated rendering to any VR Game, and i only hope for stuff like the cheaper PSVR2 PC adapter to work for the headset, and a mount for project babble face tracking But i will also admit it does not cost $1000, should've been $700 at most
Honestly i know some specs may be out dated but ive came from the quest 2 since pre order then quest 3 for pre order Honestly i dont mind not javing the best lenses when i can he stand alone eith full body and face tracking without third party software
How easy is it to connect to a Pc? I have a quest two and I’m so fed up with the meta link software. Hours and hours of troubleshooting makes me wish I was in the dirt.
I'm guessing you just need the Vive streaming software on pc and it should connect easily. As for the quest, I love to use virtual desktop instead because it's much faster and doesn't lag at all (whereas meta link barely runs for me).
I think what they'll probably end up doing is after They've released their flagship model for the holidays. They'll probably come out with a more Affordable model that has less of the Target audience focused features like the full body tracking and whatnot And now that it's out, they'll probably release something That is more a kind to what the quest is
I really want to buy it but my only concern is if I will be able to use my index controllers in steamvr, regardless I’m probably still going to preorder it.
You'll probably need a USB adapter per index controller + lighthouse tracker on the headset to calibrate for the playspace Index controllers on non lighthouse headsets have a weird (and expensive) setup, but it can be done, I recommend seeing videos of index controllers on quest as that's probably how it's gonna work with the focus vision
@@mesharkyvibes this is that the OG vive is a lighthouse HMD, the focus vision is an inside out HMD, meaning it doesn't use the chaperone from steamVR and instead uses its own Since the index controllers don't have a headset to reference to, they tend to drift or do some weird stuff, thus why the headset needs to be tracked by lighthouse, and why you may see some pictures of people with a vive tracker on top of a quest headset
Can the eye-tracking function allow the game to only render where the eyes see in high-res and the rest in lod? new to VR if I'm acting stupid then sorry
Pretty much yeah, it concentrates on rendering where you're looking. Not only does this make it perform better, but it also feels better, as that's how our eyes work anyway.
This is the best recap on this HMD, thanks for this video! Just subbed x Damn shame it's not pancake lenses - otherwise I might've picked this up once the price dropped for vrchat usage.
@@JamHamVRhe is correct that the eye tracking should enable foveated rendering which is huge, though as you point out, VRChat is the most compelling market for this headset. Unfortunately, to date, the feature is not supported there as it needs to be integrated in engine to work. It does have eye tracked foveated rendering. One of many high end features you cannot find on anything else under $1600. But we shall see in the reviews for high end games like DCS, MSFS.
@@chaadlosan The psvr 2 does have decent eye tracking + foveated rendering from what I’ve used. Though it does have the same issue that there’s not many games that use it (or even many games to play on the psvr 2 at all). This one I would not get. I tried the XR elite and the VP2 and they where not me. on the VP2 the lenses was the bigest turnoff for me. the sweetspot was so small and for me only the direct center had clear image. and the focus uses the same lenses/screens as VP2 so allready on that its a no go for me. I would have loved to get eye tracking and the possibility to use displayport. but for having all the tracking i insted have ordered the pico 4 pro. The only Vive headset I've ever tried is the original, though I would love to try one eventually. Also, the psvr 2 eye tracking is great, and I would have loved an actual affordable pcvr headset that had that feature.
I've preordered one from my local aussie Vive Store (au$1899, which currently includes the DisplayPort adapter kit). It will be interesting to see how this compares to my favorite flight sim msfs2020 headset = Quest Pro (i913900k/rtx4090) using the official link cable connected to my z790mb usb3.2 type-c port. I'm hoping that the VFV's higher res screens together with auto IDP help make the Fresnel lens work ok and I expect better overall performance with its DP connection. Time will tell I guess. Thanks for your videos mate and best cheers from Australia.
I'd imagine that it would be better quality wise. And even though the performance specs aren't as advanced, it shouldn't really matter while connected to the pc. Let me know how it goes when it releases! 🙌
im just waiting for something that performs close to the quest 3 for under 700$, metas nice and all but im not a big fan of their software and people that use other headsets on games like tabor for an example seem to not have the issues i do, ofc the hand tracking can easily be fixed by buying the quest 2 or pro controllers but its just a bummer, the quest 3 out performs basically everything other than tracking
Now I see why everyone is complaining about this, it’s the people that don’t play VRC that are complaining, I plan on really only playing VRC so this thing is pretty nice for me and I couldn’t care less about the price
The surprise release is so they can hopefully TRICK slower VR enthusiasts to pre order BEFORE they realize: - tracking is $200 xtra - it has fresnel lenses from 2017 - it uses a chip thats easily 2 years old - its buly and heavy as hell Its $ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS 😂😂😂
