      I totally understand! I love the Trash to Treasure videos, too! The thing I noticed is that whenever I posted a shopping video.....I had so many more views than the Trash to Treasure videos and I put soooo much work into them, so that was a little discouraging! RUclips tells us to analyze what is working for your channel and when I look at the numbers...it just seems like people want to watch the shopping videos, so that's why you are seeing more shopping videos. I am still doing Trash to Treasure videos, however, and I actually have one coming up very soon, so stay tuned!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know that you enjoy them!!! XOXO

    Hi Kelly, want to say this was a great video. Although it took me forever to finish watching it as I kept getting interrupted.
    Don’t know how you do it but your creativity is awesome. These great ideas for snowman was as you say it Stiken Cute. Yes I can see you making dolls. You were pretty good at it too.
    That large one with the wreath adorable with that cute wagon but have to say the little one touched me. His brows gave him so much character.
    I’m always blown away at what you come up with. I definitely want to save this video to try next year ( as you know Florida doesn’t get any snow) but if my heart is into Christmas next year I’m gonna make me a few of these n maybe give one as a gift. My #1 gal .Can’t wait for your next video.

    These are really cute! I can see a whole snowman family like this! I can't help but think it would be easier to stain the fabric before cutting out, then paint it after stuffing if you want to. I might also play with stuffing the arms, then stitching them into the side seam when sewing the body of the larger one together. I"m definitely going to try this!

I am in Denver I have no idea after putting them together what I should charge. Since I’m a noob booth owner. I have all kinds of ideas after seeing this wreath and the snowman! I haven’t gotten to the one in the jar but making these for my booth will be adorable! Just curious how much did you price your wreath at? And did it sell? It had to of! Also do you make duplicates of things and put them in your booth as one sells? Or do you just make one? I’m going to have to see if you have a Q and A because I would love to be a part of it sometime.♥️

    The snowmen are adorable. Can we get the same results if we paint the fabric before sewing & stuffing it? Thanks

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  2 года назад

      Thank you, Sweet Ums! No...if you coffee dye it and paint it, first...the front half of the head and back half of the head will have a different color variation and it's not going to look right. One part might be really dark and then the other a lighter shade and you'll notice it is two different looking pieces that you're sewing together. So, for the best results...it's really better to do it this way, plus the fabric gets really hard and it will be hard to sew through. Hope that answers your question. Thanks Again, Sweet Ums!!

    Hey CT - while my countertop matches yours - my floor (in the kitchen) does not creak. Happy new year - love these snowmen. I sent you a note through your web site - if you replied, I didn’t get it. I did some great thrifting before New Years, but ready to go again

    Oh Girl ! How is your back ? I couldn't work on the floor with the saw like that. I do love your pieces though
    The large wreath with the snowman is really cool. I just wonder why you didn't tuck the raw ends in at the bottom of the snowman too. Also I would have stained the fabric before making the snowman doll. It would have been less messy. The hat could have been from the paper towel tube or tube from aluminum wrap (which is really sturdy) with the felt piece glued around it. Would have used less felt.
    None the less your snowman is so stinking cute that I may have to make one for my winter door.
    On your second snowman, rice is also a good filler to add weight to this. I've made dolls and the plastic pellets really do work best. They may be a little bit more $$, but maybe on half price or a coupon.
    He's cute, but he has no mouth

      Isn't it the truth, Cindy! HEE HEE Yep...it definitely goes by fast...in a blink of an eye!!! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the flea marketing trip! It was so much fun and there really was a lot to see, wasn't there?!?! I just love going! It's one of my most favorite things to do! Do you ever go with your grandkids? I'm sure they'd love it! My mom would always take my kids when they were younger and I've been going, as long as, I can remember! LOL It's just so much fun going treasure hunting and there really is something for everyone! Anyway, thanks for watching and for always taking the time to comment! I really appreciate that, Cindy!!! XOXO

    Can you tell me the type of fabric you used for the wreath snowman - “ossemberg”?

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  2 года назад

      Kim, it's called Osnaburg. It's usually right by the muslin in Hobby Lobby and/or Joann's. Even Walmart carries it! Back in the day, everyone used Muslin to make their dolls, however, I find that Osnaburg is a much stronger fabric and I just love the texture it has to it! All the Primitive doll makers use this fabric for their dolls. Hope that helps!

  • @gloriakusch644

    Wouldn't it have been easier and less messy for you to stain the fabric before you cut it out and assembled the Snowman? Plus you wouldn't have to worry about getting the stuffing inside wet. No judgement just a suggestion

    • @FLEAMARKETRESCUE
      @FLEAMARKETRESCUE  2 года назад +1

      Hi Gloria! I know it would seem that way, but you wouldn't get the same results. The seams would have light stitching down the sides, because they weren't coffee stained. Also, where the back of the doll and the front of the doll where the sides meet...there might be a big noticeable variation in color if you do it that way. The back could be stained much darker and then the front part might be lighter. This would result in the half the doll looking one way and the other half where the two pieces meet, looking another way. You want to coffee stain the whole thing together. Again I know it seems like it would be logical to do the way you suggested, but this is how all of us primitive artist do it. I've done dolls for over 30 years and was actually one of the top selling doll artist on eBay for many years. Anyway, I do appreciate you trying to help find an easier solution, but this the way you really want to do it for the best results.

    Hello, I remember these patterns. When using someone else's pattern it would be appreciated to link the designer. As a pattern designer it's just the nice thing to do

      Hi Whimsical Endeavors! I made this pattern up right in front of you...this is not anyone's pattern, but my own. If I had used someone's pattern...I would have gladly given them credit for it, because in the doll world that is just good etiquette. I get it. I don't know if you know this, but I was a primitive doll artist for 30 years. There are a lot of us who make these type of dolls. We called primitive artist. A lot of the dolls look similar, however, I can assure you I didn't use anyone's pattern for these dolls. This is just one of the particular type of dolls that I've made in the past and thought I'd share with all of you. I was one of the top sellers on eBay for many years and even sold my own patterns. My dolls were even featured in the Country Sampler...so, again....this is not just a pattern I picked up and decided to make. Again...I made the pattern up right in front of you and this is just one of the kind of dolls that I use to make.

      @@FLEAMARKETRESCUE I have been in the doll business for 30 plus years. J remember a pattern with this exact doll. I know cause I bought it for my partner for a primitive juried show we were in. What was your ebay name? I might remember you from back in the day. In the early days? I was Pea pickers primitives and I still go by Pea to this day.
      I'm sorry if I offended you, im still very protective of pattern designers. Like you said the right thing to do is to give credit.

      @@whimsicalendeavors Oh, so we're both doll makers! Well, I first started out under the name Cally's Country Crafts and was featured in the Country Sampler. I sold patterns back then. Then after that, I sold on eBay for many years under the name SHEW FLY PIE. I used to get hundreds of dollars for my dolls. I sold among the doll artist such as Crabby Gabby, Dog Patch Primitives, Kim Kohler, etc... Honest, Whimsical Endeavors...you might have bought a pattern that looked like this..but, I never saw it. A lot of primitive dolls have the same look, especially snowmen. I can assure you...I didn't use anyone's pattern or copy anyone's design. I actually made it up as I went, in the video. You literally saw me on tape if you watched the video. So, yea... I was a little upset when you said that because I too have a special place in my heart for primitive doll artist! I would never copy anyone's idea or use their pattern, because one...I can come up with my own stuff and also this is what I mainly did for years. I think I was probably one of the first ones out there doing this. You know? Anyway, no hard feelings, Whimsical Endeavors! Primitive doll hand shake! XOXO

      I know it would seem that way, however, that fabric gets sooo hard....you can barely get your needle through the fabric. Really...it's just so much easier this way...otherwise you're definitely going to be struggling! Did you see me just try to do the eye brows afterwards? I could barely get the needle through to do two stitches. Anyway...I know logically it seems like it would be easier, but it's not. Hope that explains that, PK.

    I really like your videos but wonder if you used to be a primary grades school teacher? Your instructions seem to assume we are totally clueless. Do you have viewers who need such detailed and repetitive explanations? If so, I apologize and will learn patience.

      Donna, I just had someone write in the comments say that they were struggling with understanding some of the steps in this particular video. Not everyone is at the same level. There are beginners who watch my videos and I like to include everyone. I think that's great that you know what you're doing and I'm sorry I'm very detailed and repetitive, but I do that because I want everyone to be included....beginners to people who are advanced. I have to assume not all viewers know this information and that they might just be people who are learning this for the first time, such a the viewer who wrote that she was struggling to understand some of the steps. I hope you understand.
