- This is a SPECIAL DIY Fall Trash to Treasure episode. We will be collaborating with Crafting Cousins today. In this episode, we will be taking items from the thrift store, flea market, and recycling them into BEAUTIFUL Fall decor for your home!
First, we will be taking an old cutting board that we bought at the Thrift Store and with a GREAT Witchy Image that I bought from Sweet & Sassy Treasure's, we'll turn that into a Spooky piece of Fall Decor. Next we'll take old candle from the Thrift Store and using cans that most people would throw away....we will transform them into WONDERFUL smelling Fall Candles. Lastly we'll take an old piece of burlap & an old feed sack from the Flea Market and turn them into AWESOME Fall pumpkins!

You made a cutting board with a pic of my mother-in-law on it !!! I would use it for target practice LoL
You can uncrimp the metal wick bases and then recrimp around the new wick with pliers, the glue will not hold sometimes with hot wax

Kelly I loved all of your thrifts. Those can candles are my absolute favorite though. I will be contacting that lady to get some of the oil. We have done rust with cinnamon a few times too but I love the vinegar and salt method too...such beautiful candles. Thank you so much for collabing with us. Sherry I have a cutting board like that and the you get these pressed wood fall leaves from the Dollar Tree and I'm putting two on each in and three in the middle on each side and then I'm going to put my wire pumpkin in the Middle with some fall flowers and stuff in it for my dining room table it's going to be really nice I'm painting the leaves each a different color

Hi, would you put sealer under a decoupage paper before gluing it to a furniture too ? Love love love your home decor projects❤❤❤
Yes, you want to spray the back of your print with a clear coat sealer...that way when you go to mod podge your print down you don't get all these bubbles underneath. It helps! Also, thank you so much for the wonderful compliment! XOXO Have a BEAUTIFUL weekend, Christine!
I just finished your video. It's sooooo hard to pick my favorite craft! Each one gets better and better. I love the candles though. I don't do halloween decor, but would love to make something like that for Thanksgiving or Fall.

I have tried the glue too for adhering the wick when I poured my hot wax. The problem I had was the glue melted and the wick floated.
Hi Joyce! You know...I have a had that happen, so I know what you're talking about. For the most part they work for me, but on occasion I will have that one that lets loose. You know they have sticky tabs, too that you could use on the bottom. I think they are called something like wick stickum. Maybe try that.

Hi M Ruddy! Thanks so much! Yes, if you spray the back of your your image with a coat of clear coat sealer... it will help avoid bubbles when you are mod podging it onto your item. Hope that helps. If you have any questions..don't hesitate to ask! XOXO

If you put glass candle containers that have some wax left in them in the freezer for a little while, the wax pops right out as clean as a whistle. No chiseling necessary.

Thank you, Karen! Surprisingly, I get a lot of people tell me they don't celebrate Halloween. When I was a kid...I, too loved dressing up and going Trick or Treating....it was so much fun!!! We'd go into our feet hurt! And, yes...you're right...decorating for Halloween is fun, too! I love your videos! You may have heard this 100 times since this video aired, but if not I just thought I’d tell you that candles should always be melted over a double boiler. They’re flammable and it’s very dangerous to do it that way! Thanks for your great videos I love every single one of them! LOVE the can labels u made!

Since you do a lot of flipping on different things, can the semi-gloss paint be used on woods? If so, can you still paint over them (dry brush), because if you can, I have a lot. Because in my business I am changing all to flat Latex. BTW, I came over from "Crafting Cousins". I am going to watch a couple more, but I think that you will have another subscriber when I am done. BTW..very nice job on those pumpkins, and I think that I will use a couple of my burlap bags to do some. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Darlene! Welcome to my channel! So, glad you decided to check it out! As to your question...yes, semi-gloss paint can be used on woods. I have wood furniture pieces that I paint all the time using latex eggshell (semi gloss) paint & primer in one and I have no problem applying that. You are going to want to seal it afterwards with a wax or spray, though to protect the finish. I usually go on to chalk paint it on the second coat to give it a chalky flat look, but you most certainly can use a semi gloss on wood. It's all experimenting....try it on a section that doesn't show to see if you're getting the results you wanted. Hope that helps! Anyway, thanks for watching and you have a GREAT day!!!
@@FLEAMARKETRESCUE I use a lot of Rust-Oleum Clear coat on my products. I do Concrete Statuary and I have found that semi-gloss just doesn't work for me. So I have quite a bit that I would like to use on some flipping of some furniture, signs....etc. Thanks for the feed back, and yes, I hit subscribe.

Hi Donna! LOL No, actually you'd be surprised...that wax isn't as hot as you'd think and it starts harding up so fast. If you noticed the cup on the inside...as soon as, I poured it...the wax along the sides was dry. It crazy, but no...no worries, my friend! Thank you so much for looking out for me! Hi Diane! It's the Fiskars Sure Cut Paper Craft Cutter. It's a great cutter! There is no guessing with this cutter. It has a wire which you can line where you want to cut and it's a perfect cut every time. Anyway, here's a link to it on Amazon: amzn.to/2VoCq6F

Why” rust” the whole can if the label covers most of it?
Well, even though the label covers a large amount of the can....the can is just too shiny on the areas you can see! By making it look rusty...it just gives it a bit of a Vintage look to go along with the label! You know?

suggestion...to rust tin cans faster...just place water salt and put the cans in a container...put the water salt and let it outside...you will get rust inside and out...
