    The New Revolution (formerly known as Revolution, Great American Revolution and La Revolución) is a steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. Manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf and designed by Werner Stengel, the roller coaster opened to the public on May 8, 1976. The New Revolution is the world's first modern roller coaster to feature a vertical loop and has been recognized for that accomplishment by American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE), who awarded the roller coaster its Coaster Landmark status. However, there were earlier examples of roller coasters with a full vertical loop, such as the steel roller coaster called "Looping the Loop" in Parque Japonés in Buenos Aires, which operated from 1911 to 1930.
    The coaster was named after the American Revolution in celebration of the country's Bicentennial. Unlike many of the previous looping roller coasters in the 19th and early-20th centuries which attempted circular loops, Revolution's success was dependent on a clothoid-shaped vertical loop - a first in the industry.
    In 2016, the coaster received a makeover for its 40th anniversary that included new trains with lap bars and an optional virtual reality experience for riders. The New Revolution soft-launched to season pass holders on March 26, 2016, and opened to the general public on April 21, 2016.

    Loved this ride as a kid. One evening, without many guests left in the park, my friends and I were allowed to ride over and over again. This video clip brought back some good memories!

    I was visiting my Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle in California all the way from Virginia. They took us all to Magic Mountain. This was my first Roller Coaster with a loop. I found myself standing in line for the ride elbow to elbow with the DeFranco Family, who were performing there at the time. I was too afraid to speak to them. That was a trip I'll never forget. Great memories from the 70's.

    I've gotten exactly one ride on this thing pre-conversion where it wasn't running any trims and it was legitimately incredible. BRING BACK TRIMLESS RIDES

    I rode Revolution 2yrs after it opened. The Coaster had a 5 Train operation, and there were no trim brakes before the loop, and after the tunnel, which gave the ride a very fast, and powerful finish.

      rev is only built to have 3 train ops, it doesn't have enough train storage for 5

    It’s a bit like the rolls Royce of coasters. Not the fastest or most exciting but elegant smooth and refined.

    How is Classic Revolution different than New?

    • @abbabeththehamster4320
      @abbabeththehamster4320 Год назад +2

      I think it was renamed to Classic because the park did away with the virtual reality feature (which itself was marketed under the name "The New Revolution").

    I remember this movie rollercoaster from 1977 it was a classic movie and with a very good cast Timothy Bottoms and George Segal they rocked equally and the outstanding Richard Widmark.These today's movies are just trash and amateurish.I don't like these modern american movies they should learn how to make a movie
