Twisted Colossus is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Originally designed and built by International Amusement Devices, the roller coaster opened as Colossus on June 29, 1978. It was the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world and the first with two drops greater than 100 feet (30 m). Colossus became well known after appearances in film and television, including the box-office hit National Lampoon's Vacation. After more than 36 years in operation, The roller coaster closed permanently on August 16, 2014, On September 8, 2014, while workers were disassembling the track, a fire broke out and consumed a portion of it, causing a portion of the structure to collapse.
Within two weeks of its closure, Six Flags announced that the coaster would reemerge in 2015 as a hybrid wood and steel roller coaster named Twisted Colossus. It is being renovated by Rocky Mountain Construction to feature barrel roll inversions, a near-vertical drop, and dueling tracks that allow riders on different trains to race from start to finish.

This ride is fun rode it the first ride when I went I just hate how you can't feel your stomach at the top. Other then that it's fun

If there is ANY wiggle room between you and your lap bar, it's FAR from smooth. You want to get CRUNCHED DOWN by the ride attendants for sure.

Was able to ride this coaster 3 times yesterday. A great ride all by itself, one of the best. But when you experience the ride the way it was intended and you get to race another coaster it is awesome. The best coaster at magic mountain
I love rollercoasters and I'm not afraid when it comes to riding them I always have my hands up on every ride I go on but the first time I got on this ride I had to hold on for dear life because I felt like I was gonna fly out. However, it's super fun I've been going for 3 weekends in a row already
My daughter is now 8 and has been riding hands up on all coaster since the kiddie land days when she was 2. She openly mocks adults who wont ride hands up.. This and X2 included..
I am finally getting my roller coaster mojo back. In my youth nothing scared me and if it did, it sure didn’t stop me. But after so many years they changed and I changed along with them and became afraid of them. I never thought that would happen but it did. I still appreciated them but from afar. It was fun living vicariously through other people. But recently I returned to Magic Mountain and slowly but surely started riding these twisted beasts again. I admit I chickened out a couple of times.. something I never did before. I waited in line for Twisted Colossus and when it came time to board.. I couldn’t do it! I just exited. I hated myself. Same with Tatsu. Although I forced myself to ride Wonder Woman and Batman which I had ridden o. Before but it had been 15 years! These were good warm ups! I finally rode Tatsu and as freaked out as I was I felt badass afterwards! I felt like if I could ride that flying beast then all the others would be a piece of cake.
I hope you rode Tatsu in the back row... That's the best seat in the house for the inverted loop with ALL the G force@@Missglam67
@@TaaxiCaab not the back row. I rode in the 2nd row from the front. The life hill made me rethink my decision but it was terrifyingly fun! I greyed out in the preztel loop!

There is a 2nd ride at the park, that didn't exist at the time of your post, called West Coast Racers, that does this, BUT there is little show where the train takes a pitstop while the next train loads. Once the next train is ready, both trains launch together for a Race Every Time.

one of my favorite roller coasters. The second time you go around you can say hi to the green cart and its quite funny because we always tell them to turn back and laugh at them. We actually had one family "rowing" their cart up. The ride is absolutely amazing
Rode it for the first time 5 days ago. Honestly one of the craziest rides there, it's wayyyy more intense than it looks. And also, my friend was on the ride a row in front of me and during it he ended up losing his hat and it went and hit me in the face. Crazy shit xD

I've been to several six flags all around United States and this by far is my top 3 favorite rides of all time. Good job Six Flags and if anybody is reading this that hasn't been on the ride, ride it soon!
There is a reason why I love RMC , Rocky Mountain Coasters are so good, especially for this, A dueling coaster with possible races too.

+Thealpha Banana Good advice hahah. Viper is more of a pain tolerance session than a thrill ride. >_< It desperately needs better cushioned shoulder harnesses, for one thing. You spend half the ride smashing & grinding your collarbone against them, and they're only slightly softer than bone.
Looks like most people already know too (return visitors at least), as it always has by far the shortest line, if any, when I'm there. Even significantly shorter than the nearby Revolution, which is much older.
Just went on this yesterday! I had so much fun but held on for dear life, the loop and the drop was insane

this was definitely the most overwhelming experience at the park. after hearing the back story i didn't expect too much from what was supposed to be the "classic" coaster at the park. it will blow your fucking mind, got off giggling. highly recommended.
Why do the drops look so small in the videos?

Because the drops are only 128 feet. They're not that long. That's one reason I love Millennium Force at CP so much...300 feet at 80 degrees is perfect...long enough to enjoy it.

Definitely worth the wait. I loved what they did with it . I was surprised that the line was pretty short . the line for Tatsu and Full throttle were waaaaay longer. the line for twisted colossus was an hour but it genuinely felt like 5 minutes . remember to put your hands up you won't regret and watch out for the first drop...it was amazing

I guess that Fire was the Best Thing to happen to this Ride because they were originally going to close this Ride for good. The Saved the Ride's Life Literally! And the new is definitely an improvement!

Kind of depressing when you're single and have no one to go to Six Flags with or any theme park for that matter. Can't go with your friends because they all are either in committed relationships and always have other plans, are dirt cheap, or chicken shit to go on these kinds of rides. Its been several years since I've been to Six Flags and too ashamed to go alone.

Infinitely beyond bullshit! There will never EVER be anything wrong with going to a theme park alone. Back in Feb., I went to Magic Mountain all by myself two days in a row and I felt great. You never need to feel ashamed about going to a theme park alone.

Dude I went to Six Flags Georgia by myself last Thursday. It was great. Whoever plops down in the seat next to you becomes your thrill buddy for that ride. Met a British guy on holiday and a 60 year old man who spent his lunch breaks there riding roller coasters. XD. And because I went on a Tuesday and didn't have anyone with me to chickenshit out, I never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride all day :D.

Rode it yesterday. Amazing coaster, and we lucky enough to have the timing work out so the green train was inverted above us. Genius. They really should time the green train's ascent so it does that every ride. Either slow it down or speed it up using a computer. Possibly my new favorite coaster.

If by intensity you mean how much you get jerked around or bumpiness, the ride's very smooth and most of how your body is effected is just through high G-forces. It has quick, sudden changes in direction, but they aren't uncomfortable at all. In my opinion, if you can stand the horrible bumpiness of Apocalypse, you can probably ride this fine and have a good time.
If you can't stand that you're gonna hate this ride then. That's something you've just got to get used to overtime, and by now I barely feel it anymore. I miss it though, Twisted brought it back a couple times, that was awfully nice of it.

I went on this on July 18th and it was a blast! The drops scared me to death but that was the best part. There's nothing to hold onto which totally freaked me out. If you want a adrenaline feeling but not a total scary ride, this is the ride to go on.👌🏼

To me, yes. I think it's just overall a better park. Of course, Cedar Point has the Dragster and Millenium Force.. But still.

I grew up with original Colossus - I was there for opening day and was there for closing day - next summers vacation we will be visiting Six Flags MM Valencia!
