    I remember watching this animation panel two weeks ago and I was mind blown at all the innovations the Blender team is working so hard to bring. As a 3D animator myself, I cannot wait for animation to feel as intuitive or quickly as rewarding as sculpting, for example; where you can make any changes to an animation without having to go through so many workflows. Very exciting stuff to come!

    • @godspeed2145
      @godspeed2145 Год назад +4

      Honestly it reminds me that if AI were to start sculpting and be average to impressive, we as humans can be the ones to give it more details or delete some in order to make it look so good. Using it as a tool is key. I see blender as a fine sportsmanship like craft engine to inspire these works.

      @Zombies Eat Jerky Yes because each one of those apps have only one thing to focus on. Blender is trying to do all of that at once, it's fucking obvious it would take a lot more time to implement these things. Not to mention quite a lot of artists use blender already despite being "inferior" as you think and some people have already started using blender for their work. Still, I wouldn't say it's as great as all the other programs combined, but once it does get near their level, there's no going back.

      You'll still be taking more time. Trust me. It doesn't work like that. The better and faster you get. The more complicated your ideas get, the longer they take to complete. But since the tools have increased the speed. You'll just find yourself finishing the project in roughly the same time it took you..or slightly longer

    • @ali32bit42
      @ali32bit42 Год назад +5

      and i am aware of it. having higher quality work in less time is just more benefits. i do spend the same amount of time but i also get more done. longer animations,realistic physics , better polish, less back and fourth with clients , its all positive . and the fact that more complex ideas become possible in a reasonble time is not a negative at all . that and this friction triggers my disorders so no friction is automatically more productivity for me

    One thing I like about Blender as a Company I'd that they listen to their users; and instead of willy nilly updates every decade, they make useful updates on what honestly seems like a daily basis at this point. And even more, they make the tools and test the practicality of them in their open movies, seeing what's needs and how new tools work in the workflow. Blender as a company honestly is top tier and I'm grateful they made their program free and open source.

    Honestly incredibly excited for the rigging tools. I primarily use Maya for rigging but use blender for literally everything else so it'd be great to have an all in one software. The simple drivers I hope function in a similar way to maya's set driven keys which would make shape key rigs way easier. Hopefully it also works on driving bones as applying action constraints to each bone individually is awful. Also the node based system seems almost like a visual scripting language which would take much of the monotony out of redoing rigs for new characters.

      You redo rigs for each character? I'm hoping you're using scripts. You can have a rigs. You can have a character ready in less than a hour. You'll still have to paint weights though. If scripts are not a thing. You can use bifrost to rig your character. Maya's visual programming language. That thing is the industry's dirty little secret. It's beyond broken. I'm sure you can do the same in Houdini's nodes. Saw a guy do it once.

    • @Cancanpanda
      @Cancanpanda Год назад

      @@jomo2483 In maya I script most of the things but for blender I never really bothered to learn scripting. By the time I learned scripting I was well into the maya pipeline so it didnt make sense to learn a whole load of new commands to create a blender autorigger. I would love to switch to blender fully as I just generally like the interface and community more but its a lot harder to find tutorials at a professional level.

    - The blendshape when posed workflow and motion path editing already exist in 3dsmax for possibly over a decade (skin morph is for sure old)
    - Animation layers in any configuration are also a mainstream feature, it really depends on your setup
    - Visual manipulators that you can just pick in the viewport I don't think is anything new
    The temp rig thing is interesting, especially if the motion is automatically kept after deletion - but if the rig is useful you probably won't delete it
    The pinning of geometry is something you can fake with modifiers, an easy workflow for that would be awesome
    What you really need to revolutionize animation is to transfer Unity's humanoid system so that all animations are interchangeable
    and a facial rig system that doesn't require painful setup - the first one is clearly possible. The second is always lacking and even bespoke solutions have a lot of setup work
    The closest workflow, but for realistic faces I think is the work done for metahuman
    Rig presets/library is cool, but not with simple things that just take 2 clicks
    A hand posing tool would be awesome, with preset poses and a system to detect distance to object... which can be probably made with nodes might actually help animators work faster and be less cumbersome - actually I might just make that in Unity
    Generally I think - as usual - a lot of these things exist in some form or another, blender artists just don't know about them, because they just use blender - 3dsmax isn't even the king of animation
