The 22 FT86 platform has 50% more torsional rigidity than the previous gen… so I think it’d take some serious track time and high grip setup to notice a difference with these.
I believe that although the purpose of these is for performance, I think this would actually have a noticable effect on sound resonance if you have high end aftermarket speakers installed in the doors. If the door is more pressed against the body and putting more pressure on t the latch and staying on there tighter then the door will shake less and resonate to a lesser degree. I'm going to buy a gr86 in the next few months and am going to do a high end audio build and this will probably help along with the much needed sound proofing
@@shiikon2193 I didn't end up buying one now that the oil starvation issue was discovered. I'm going to wait until Subaru updates their engine and fixes the problem. If not i'm buying a 3rd gen MR-2
@@MyOldNameWasTaken Only an issue for track duty on track tires, I dont expect subaru fixing it as that would involve expensive recalls. Verus has an updated pan coming out which fixes the issue
@@iokuse8498 I was able to get mine to fit a little bit more snug with some force, but it’s still not flush on the passenger side. Glad to hear it won’t leak.
I think these are a total placebo effect. Even if these did make a small difference , there are so many other mods you could do that would make way more of difference, before this mod, that I wouldn't waste my time. Still great video guys!
I could be wrong but from my experience the door noise on these type of cars usually seems to come from window shake - because they have frameless windows.
Guys, before we actually go crazy with the Kool-Aid... can someone draw me a torsional force diagram and explain how securing ONE point on one side of the door magically makes the side more rigid?
Anything that more firmly attaches the door to the body will help rigidity. If you want to test these try a before and after test by jacking the diagonal front wheel up and checking the door to body fit. Now you know do it and report back.

Hi, just used your video as a guide to install mine.
Thanks.
Thank you, we hope you enjoy it!
Glad it helped!
Very cool. Absolutely getting these as soon as my 86 comes.
Previous gen 86 had the same TRD/GR door stabilizers
Doubt it makes a big difference but I bet it helps the hinges last a lil longer
The seatbelt chime when you drive off ☠️
Was going to edit it out but thought it was funny. That's every subaru owners least favorite sound after rod knock 😂
@@ImportImageRacing it’s an important part of owning them! 😂
@@ImportImageRacing Can’t you disable it?
@@skiddlyd.244 You can. Will have a video on it soon
Would this fit the 1st gen car?

Update? Did these make a difference?

Why doesn't mine sit flush after install?
Mine does the same. Not sure what’s going on

Will you guys be getting the fog lights that come in the jdm version?
This -also the duckbill spoiler that the GR86 has.
We have a set of the led bezels here we are test fitting soon. And we have a GR86 Duckbill as well.

I don’t think TRD would make them if it didn’t make a difference, what are your credentials to make the assumption?
Wonder if this can be fitted on the VA chassis STI/WRX
Should do a before and after door pulling video to prove it actually works. At least pull on the door you didn't install it on yet.
does it make the door closing any quieter?

What wheels are you running and what are the specs? Your car looks awesome…color, wheels, stance are on point!
They're Cosmis XT206R 17x8 +30 on the factory michelin 215/45/17 tires.
As DUMB as it may sound, miata guys claim the same thing with their door bushing upgrades.
I think on a convertible platform I could possibly see more of a difference.
Sure does add some spice to the car even if there’s no noticeable difference
What’s the part number??

Kinda ridiculous mod for almost 200.00. With no known fact that it does anything IMO. Sorry
You're further enclosing the car. The doors now are structural members similar convertible to coupe or even sunroof delete.

So door stabalizers that make the car more rigid are rice? 😂
That garbage will do nothing against the actual forces that flex a chassis while driving.
