@@ToyotaGR86Performance Hi, I am wondering if you know the auto-folding mirror option in Japan could be installed on the US version of GR86? The OEM part from Subaru is as the clip of below. ruclips.net/video/jxufbNzeWlA/видео.htmlsi=Jduv4OkKybUEVoPa
None of the US spec vehicles have the auto folding. I want this in my car and I have seen videos of people adding it into their cars. This requires completely replacing the side mirrors for ones that have the electronic motor, replacing the door switch for one with the mirror fold button, and doing some custom wiring.
I remember when I replaced the strikers on my FR-S with the stabilizer strikers from TRD in Japan. If there is trouble with getting the screws out, a little heat from a soldering iron helps out massively. Also recommend to add blue Loctite to the screw threads when you install the strikers.
Thanks for the video and perfect timing for me. I just got two packs of these in the mail for my gen5 Prius. (I know it sounds pretty silly to install these on a Prius, but I was ordering and importing another GR part for it and figured what the hell. :)
Something silly and one person’s eyes can be a genius idea for someone else. If you wanted to install these on your Prius, I say good on you. You should never listen to what other people tell you to do in your own life; do whatever you want that makes you happy.
This great. Love your videos. Do you plan on doing a video with the Toyota GR 86 Front Strut Tower Tie Brace/Bar PTR03-18223? Would love to see that is possible. Keep up the great work :)
What's that tool callled where you put the screw bit into it and strike it with a hammer to turn it? I have a project 94 miata that I've stripped a billion bolts on, seems really useful.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with them, it’s just that some people prefer to have a stiffer chassis. The people that don’t care about a stiff chassis are perfectly fine with the factory ones.
I would say it’s a very subtle change if any at all. I am not a professional race car driver to be able to tell such a small difference, but according to the development team, it does make a difference.
Cant speak on this car as I dont have one(considering it) but on miatas a common mod is to replace the door bushings with solid ones and they actually made a small but slightly noticeable difference. But those are convertible so the body flexes more from the start. The most noticeable difference is that the door closes more solid sounding and minimises/eliminates rattles coming from the door. Since sound is vibrations, preventing the door from vibrating will reduce a specific frequency from entering the cabin. Its not a night-and-day difference though. Its just a few small rattles and creaks under specific conditions and each car has more than others of course. But this, combined with few other small mods can make the interior noticeably more quiet, and as a result, it makes the cheap stock miata sound system actually sound decent. Considering that this is a solid roof and a newer car overall, results may differ. But its still a lightweight car so mods like this do help out with making the interior more quiet.
@jrod1577 you are 100% on point. It’s the little things that add up to make a good car into a great car, and that can take a rattly, noisy little vehicle, and make it into something much more pleasurable to drive. This is exactly why I am doing a lot of these small modifications to make this as nice as possible.
Incorrect installation. I would look at everything and make sure you didn’t install some of the plates backwards. Also make sure that the bolts that are holding the parts are completely screwed all the way down.
Hello, I really like your videos, thank you for showing us all these tutorials ! Do you plan to install the TRD GR Monoblock Brake Kit MS220-18005 ? I think buying it for mine and having a video from you for installation would be really helpful !
The trunk aero cover, roof spoiler, canards, GR oil filter, and a few other bits will be released within a month or so. Custom dash camera installation after that. Eventually I will install every single TRD part that is available including the $4,000 TRD wheels, suspension, brake kit, and aero kit.
So I ordered and they arrive. I installed however I made a huge rookie mistake and stripped one screw with the screw not completely mounted. I can shut the door but now I don't know if I should remove it or just live with it. I'm afraid to remove and damage the threading. Thoughts? I appreciate your help
Depends on whether or not you think you can install the screw completely. Maybe take the screw and go to a hardware store and see if you can find one that will fit and just replace it.
Because the factory tries to get you the functional vehicle for as cheap as possible. Only 0.01% of all buyers are going to care enough to want to have the door stabilizers. Those people can just buy it and install it themselves. Most people do not care about stuff like this.
@@ToyotaGR86Performance would normally agree if that would be Yaris or Corolla we are speaking about But 86 is an enthusiast oriented model and I'm sure such low quality will be spotted by more than 0.01% of potential owners
It’s all about skirting the line on acceptable for the mass market to buy. I’m sure if they included every single GR performance part on the car from the factory it would be roughly 50,000 from the dealer.
Here’s where you can buy yours.

I don't own a GR86 or even a car 🤣 but it's so satisfying to watch these installs.
Thanks man, I just want to share the experience with you all. ^_^
I saw the Japanese manual said the torque for the body side is 23 N•m and 5 N•m for the door side.
Thank you very much. I will add that to the description of the video and I will go back and properly torque my bolts.
Again, thank you very much.
@@ToyotaGR86Performance no problem. Thank you for your informative clips!

I noticed that my car doesn’t even have the folding mirror button inside the car as GR86 in Japan.

Good suggestions. Thanks!
I love your installs, theyre imo some of the easiest to follow
Thanks! I try to keep them simple. ^_^

More than likely those factory screws are not PH3 but JIS3, looks like there’s a dot on the fastener head.
Good eye! The dot means it’s the Japanese standard (JIS).
Where is the best place to find out if our cars have cool options like this in japan? I didn't even know these things existed until this video.
www.trdparts.jp/english/product/86/
Basically search JDM parts or TRD parts and your model.
This is how it should have come from Toyota, the lock areas are always an eyesore.
Agreed. The TRD lock system is pretty to look at.
good job on the install video.
Thanks!!

Yes, and possibly the performance damper instead of the strut bar.
I’m still deciding between the two but definitely one of them.

What's wrong with the old ones?
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with them, it’s just that some people prefer to have a stiffer chassis. The people that don’t care about a stiff chassis are perfectly fine with the factory ones.
Was looking into getting these for myself! Do you feel any differences in the rigidity of the car? I’ll get them either way but wanting to know 😄

Don't have a gr86 myself so just curious, what is this actually for?
Removes excess movement between the door and body which makes it more ridged for more predictable handling.
Trd door stabilizer is fit for all toyota?
Most of them.
My door doesn’t sit flush after install. What would cause this?

Is it possible to install it on vw golf mk4?
Probably not.
Is this available for the gr supra?
It should fit the Supra, yes.

I can’t believe the original screws are Philips… Especially coming from Toyota. Shoud be Torx.
Why not Torx Plus? Why not Security Torx? I’m sure there is a valid reason for PH3.
