  • A buying guide of the top ebikes for 2023 ranging from budget bikes under $1,000 mid range ebikes and high end E-Motos. The top picks include ariel rider Kepler and the wired freedom ebike for the under $2,000 category. The best mid range picks are the Ride1up revv1 and ariel rider x-class. For those looking for more power we have the lyric graffiti and onyx cty 2 featuring larger direct drive hub motors. On the high end my top picks are the lyric voodoo and the huck cycle stinger s.

Finally an unbiased youtuber who’s not including the super 73 RX. Lyric graffiti and ONYX cty cost less than the RX and give your moneys worth. The RX is simply a very bad deal for $4000!

So I definitely like the Onyx CTY2 out of the group in the video, best bang for your buck IMO.
I took google maps cycle route from cranford up to maplewood yesterday. I found a wonderful, long bike trail in Kennilworth, then the route brought me to 2 flights of concrete stairs to go on a foot bridge over rt 22... it was not fun lugging an 85+ lb, dual battery ebike up 2 flights of stairs lol

I just got a Troxus Explorer. it has the ubiquitous Bafang 750w geared hub motor but it really performs in this bike. The bike itself is super high quality, feels premium in every way. I like it way more than my BBSHD mid-drive. I was wrong about hub motors, they are better than mid-drive.

I recently got the Roadrunner V2 and it’s been solid so far as a small city commuter. Ever since I got it have been exploring other more expensive moped style e-bikes. As of comment today the Onyx CTY2 is on sale for $2,999. $500 off apparently and they are throwing in a helmet. Might consider it but not sure if it’s close to its end cycle for a newer CTY3 version. This video was definitely helpful and love watching all these awesome e-bike reviewers.

Kinda funny that ppl say Onyx are pricey( they are) so they buy Ariel riders…only to end up spending way more in upgrades to get the same power as an Onyx 😂😂

The Wired high step design looks nice with the full suspension but it's basically useless because of the controller location, since you'll have to set it really stiff to avoid your having your tire rubbing on it. It will just make you end up getting a suspension seat post which would be a travesty making it pointless.

My e-mtb for hunting (i.e. cargo bike) is a local brand, E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown from Pahrump, Nevada, 60 miles north of Las Vegas. It has 2 wheel drive Bafang 52 V, 750 W motors, 2 Samsung batteries (down tube->.17.5 ah, rear rack-> 14 ah), dual suspension, 2.3 mm thick brake rotors, 9 torque sensor assist levels, front and rear racks and fenders, front headlight, tear tail light. ROK SHOX shocks, double wall wheels, Shimano Deore gears, twist throttle, etc., etc.
** For $5,100. I thought it was an excellent buy, ESPECiALLY when compared to a RAMBO Megatron at over $7,000.!

There is another option I am saving my pennies for something you have overlooked. Looking at a couple bikes on the best e-bike mkt around. Only drawback is long delivery times but both bikes I’m coincidering have 200 amp power supplies ( capable of 400 amps and already ready for 93v Bluetooth tuning bike or motorcycle seats cruise control and regen.) Same motors only difference is frame construction so I’m studying logical layout, heat dissipation suspension design. Total price for 50 amp 72v batt. with several upgrades over base. (Largest I’ve seen is only available on latest model from one mfg It’s 70 amp hr on a single batt. cost is from $3800-$4500 but wait times can be 90-100 days with some places offering slightly better prices if you and a couple friends order at same time saving a couple hundred. Just know what to expect. Read the fine print and ask questions. The same equipment has been used on bikes costing double. And yes there are some real high dollar ones out there that just give up any “presence” of being a bicycle. I will keep the pedals. And warranties are rather short but I haven’t seen any excessive negative comments from customers. Plenty of question and answer. My small experience with sellers are document everything and do your research.

Good guide with some good choices. The Wired, Ride1up, and Ariel Riders are gray market e-bikes, which is good that they are available, but they run the risk of being pulled off the market if regulators clamp down. I hope that doesn't happen, as 750 watts is just not enough for a lot of situations. Onyx Cty2 is a straight up moped, and the Lyric Voodoo is a moped/borderline motorcycle. The Huck is just a motorcycle with no apologies, but I'm sure someone is gonna try to pass it off as a class 2 e-bike! 😂 The Lyric Voodoo is my personal favorite, and I'd get it registered to ride with the gas bikes.

It's gonna be a mobile vehicle for a disabled friend. He wants the speed. We just worry about range. If you have time, we would greatly appreciate it. Enjoy the videos also.

I'll take 60v40amp controller and battery, PLYS HAS REAR SUSPENSION FOR SAME PRICE. AND my kepler was broken o the day I got it. I wrote, calkd emaild. NOTHING BUT GENERTIC EMAILS BACK. BATTERY JUNK NEVER FOT MORE THAN 20MILES MAX. Bms is only 25amp, so controller is 25amps also NOT 33AMP. Rear deraileur was bent. Never fixed or tried. So I have spent $800 more to get running right. SO UP TO YOU. ID BUY ANYTHING BUT ARIEL RIDER PRODUCTS. FOR PRICE THERE ARE WAY better options. Oly people who speak well of themm is people that work for them. If you say anything AT ALL about them, they kick you off THERE SITES on FB and elsewhere.
