ah man saying YHWH not offensive, nor is it considered sacrileges. but anyway i always thought that he was based on osiris who was cut up into many pieces .
also in the game he could also have been the king of the egyptian gods and could have been the husband of holactie (who might be based on the goddess isis.) since the both have unlimited power.

He's the forbidden one because he was that strong. His original rampage almost destroyed Egypt and the only way he was stopped was Shimon had to seal him in 5 separate tablets and he vowed never to release him again, hence the name the forbidden one.
No, he is the forbidden one, because everyone could use him instead like the Egyptian Gods who can only used by the Pharao.
So he get selead in 5 different pieces so people can not disuse Exodia for bad things.
Sadly Exodia is even weaker as Yubel and the Sacred Beasts.
My theory was always that Exodia is akin to the Greek Titans. As such, he was too powerful for the Egyptian gods to kill, so they sealed him instead. He's a dark type, not divine, so him being a god is strange to me.
Now just to joke around because why not... How many cards does the original artwork actually have the spellbinding circle behind them? (or the pentagram used in the Japanese art).. it's only the dark magicians, Right? So perhaps... Exodia is the final form of the dark magician, after his magical power has reached near limitless levels. (Alternatively Dark Magician could have sealed it, but I like the idea of him being Dark magician)

Mac Gargan because there are countless mythos where someone sealed a near all powerful god... And again, the spellbinding circle is attributed almost solely to Dark Magician, so those are the 2 most viable situations.
Mac Gargan and you disproved your own point saying his power is infinite by admitting he was sealed. If he was truly all powerful, he couldn't have been sealed to begin with.
Also, Horathaky is the all powerful being, not exodia...
@@randomcatname7792 i think there is a difference between having infinite power vs being all poweful. The way i see it your using both terms as having the same meaning.
Exodia does indeed have literal Infinite power but think of his infinite power being a reference to his strength not overall capability. He is not omnipotent, being omnipotent or all poweful is something wayyyy more than just having infinite "power". Exodia having Infinite power doesnt leave him invulnerable to sealing so i get what Mac is trying to say.
Also and this just my own personal thoughts but i dont think Horathaky is an all powerful/omnipotent being either. It just doesn't make much sense to me that the omnipotent god of the yugioh verse isnt even its own person and is a fusion of 3 beings. Plus i mean yeah its a "creator god" which sounds pretty legit but there's been multiple showings in fiction where the "god" who created everything isn't omnipotent such as Asura's Wrath to name one.
Both Horathaky and Exodia both have an insta win feature so its clear they both have the same incalculable, Infinite power which in my book makes me see them both as equals. one being Light and a Literal God and the other being Dark and has power who can match god hence why he is forbbiden.

Horathaky is not a fusion though, you need all 3 to summon him, but he is not a combination on the 3. I always interpreted it as you needed the blessings of those 3 to earn the right to see him

There's actually a lot more evidence for this. Exodia is wielded by yugis grandpa who has a Jewish name "solomon" and wears a Jewish head cover Yarmulke with a censored star of david on it. Solomons past incarnation like with Yugi and Kaiba having Pharaoh Atem and Seto etc.. was called Shimon which is the hebrew pronunciation of the name Simon (also jewish). Shimon summons exodia to fight against Zorc.
So yeah, tons of connections. His chained nature may connect to the jewish slavery of the exodus, and how you mentioned worship of the Abrahamic faith being "forbidden" etc.. it seems quite likely.

No, Exodia is reference to Osiris and him being dismembered. Also, Obelisk is based of Geb (Geb is the Earth and an Obelisk is a tall pointed monument made of stone). Ra is based off...well Ra the Sun God. Slifer is a bit ambiguous with a reference but his name is from a employee that worked on the show I believe.

@Mac Gargan Ra was Sun God Ra or Sun God Dragon in Japan. In fact the Anime and the Manga refered to Osiris as God a number of time not his Pet the of is more like a Form of Osiris and I am not sure were you are getting that before being translated into offical english name they were given temporary names and that it was custom to name them after studio execs Slifer was a 4kids Joke because they did not want to use Osiris I have study the Egyptian God Cards for years to find all the information about them from all official sources and they are in fact the Gods. We also have to remember only a little of real egyptian mythology made its way into Yu-Gi-Oh Its kind of like YGO Egyptian Mythology they have their own version
@Mac Gargan Is a side project of mine. When I started playing there was so much miss information being given out about the gods. That I started researching everything about them and their related cards. (which were not many at the time).
Slifer's name is Osiris in the Japanese version, so no, slifer's is the Osiris of Yu-Gi-Oh.

That are just facts and researches of many years:
1. Kazuki Takahashi himself stated that Exodia is based on the mythology of Osiris who was cut in many pieces.
2. The God cards can only be summoned by the Pharao so they don't needed to be seperated in many parts. While Exodia could be used by literaly everone but to resist disusing Exodia he was selead in 5 different pieces.
3. Exodia does not come from Exodus. Exod means something to free out and dia means something godly. So you get out free something godly = Exodia.
I've always thought that Exodia was based on Osiris

I appreciate you giving more truth and history about this character that makes more sense. A lot of people love using all sorts of lore but when you connect the dots to where it actually comes from people are afraid or ignorant to the biblical connections. Cool stuff man.
I do think Exodia is an Egyptian god. I mean if you look at him, he resembles a pharaoh and pharaohs were considered gods on earth, the intermediary between the gods and the people.
Could this also mean the pharaoh, Atem is a god? That could explain why Marrick wanted the power of the pharaoh , because Atem's power is of a god.
Anyway it's good to see that you are trying different content. Keep it up.

I think that maybe Atem is the incarnation of Atum, the Father of Egyptian Gods, since their name are so close

So in essence Exodia is Aten, the forbidden monotheistic deity (akin to Ra) introduced by Pharaoh Akhenaten.
Think his fomration is definitely full of references. I mean His separate cards are an : Arm Leg Leg Arm Head. If you take the first letters you get ALLAH. It could be a reference to the hip hop song.

@@lukeboylan7901 I know that. However there is a distinction in how each group worships said God. Allah a name specific to countries who speak arabic. My comment is in reference how exodias pieces may reference that specific interpretation of the Abrahamic God.

Good idea, but a rather short video. I wish you included multiple fan Exodia theories. That probably would have been interesting to compare what fans think and their theories. Also, you don't need to apologize everytime you say the name. A simple disclaimer at the beginning of the video is enough. I hope you do a follow-up theory video in the future. Maybe even take the comments from the this video and make a version 2 - Exodia god video.

I just found an old Yugioh book: ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Enter the Shadow Realm Monster Duel official handbook.’ that states Exodia is “ The guardian god for the ancient Egyptian palace, he’s not to be taken lightly.”

Good theory, I think Exodia was too strong a Jacket and that was why he was separated (also a nod on how Osiris was dismembered by Seth and put back together and revived) Knowing how Egyptian people back then saw pharaohs as mortal gods (even Atem's dad mentioned it) do you think k Atem ascended into godhood when he finally was able to rest in peace after he lost the Ceremonial Duel?

As I understand it, YHWH is spelled that way because ancient Hebrew didn’t have vowels. The name is sacred and so in the Septuagint (I think) they replace the name with the word Adonai where ever it occurs and the King James Version of the Christian Bible does the same thing using The Lord in the same way.

A few things:
It's not that they took the vowels away from the Divine Name (YHWH), but rather that Hebrew originally did not have written vowels (the vowel points came much, much later).
The term "monotheism" is not defined how you defined it; what you described is more Henotheism. Monotheism isn't just that one's god is the best god, it's actually that there is only One True God and that all others are creatures (this is also why there is a philosophical difference between "God" and a "god").

Holactie, the Creator of Light seems much more fitting to be the Egyptian interpretation of YHWH, who is not just any God, but "the" God said to embody purity and light. They're both an instant win condition, but what sets Holactie apart from Exodia are two major things, you have to tribute all three actual Egyptian Gods to summon it, and the summoning cannot be negated by anything. It's weird they haven't fully explained the lore behind Exodia, but he seems to make more sense as an Egyptian God than the others.

Exodia is a way telling the story of Osiris
I read somewhere that Exodia was inspired in part by the Egyptian god Osiris (prior to the creation of the god cards), and that his being comprised of five cards draws from the story of how Osiris brother dismembered his body and threw him in the river, and it was Isis that gathered the pieces and reassembled him into the first mummy, at which point he became the god of the underworld.
There is that strong link there. I couldn't find anything else that linked him to that though :(
Osiris and his brother set could have had various nods. Like Kane and his brother Undertaker, obi Wan and Anikin who was left at the volcano, Sasuke and itachi, trunks and frieza, trunks slicing frieza body into many pieces.

I can see Exodia technically being seen as a God of some level, but more akin to a mythical being whose power has surpassed the gods and fearing his wrath had been sealed away in five separate tablets to contain his power, as well as his wrath.
Cause we all know how gods tend to be difficult to wield the powers of or control, like how Pegasus grew fearful JUST FROM CREATING the cards for Slifer, Obelisk, and Ra. Creating them was enough to petrify the man and Ra DID punish Odion for using a fake version of it's card and daring to summon it through that card...With a damn lightning bolt.
Would it be a reach to say people feared Exodia's power for similar reasons? Especially in ancient times that monster has been known to destroy a thousand armies by itself?

For me It appears that exodia is based on moses. First thing is his name exodia, is probably a reference to the book of exodus from the holy bible. His egiptian pharaoh look represent where the story of moses was, on egypt. The snake on his forehead represents his staff, that could be transformed into a snake and a reference to when moses snakes ate the pharaohs servants snakes (another reason why exodia looks like a pharaohs btw). And exodia is divided in 5 pieces because this probably was a reference to the pentateuch, the 5 first book of the holy bible, being they: genesis, exodus, leviticus, numbers and deuteronomy.
I was thinking Exodia is Satan with the snake on the head. Then the 3 God cards are the Holy Trinity and form into the one being like they do. The being they turn into is the creator. So idk. What you said makes a lot more sense though I guess.

Exodia is a powerful spirit, but in the YGO universe he is probably considered 1 step under the Egyptian hierarchy which consists of Ra, Obelisk, and Osiris, with Horactie acting s The Supreme deity since she has the same win condition as Exodia and has her own type and attribute not shared by others.
there are other cards you could classify in the same category exodia is in, such as the Phantom Beats(GX) and Zushin(5Ds)

@Mac Gargan i know this comment is old but sorry if im necroing, but you can prevent Exodia effect by using anime monster card Divine Serpent Geh since as long as that card on the field you can't lose the duel. Even without anime card, banishing his part or discarding it with card effect could also prevent him from being released, i say they are equal in actual gameplay perspective.

The time Exodia tried to fight against Zorc, he wasn't at his full power, being summoned by a helder. If Exodia had his real strength during the fight, Zorc would have been killed.

In the original dub he is called "god exodia" or " exodia the SEALED one" so yes he is. But it's never said which god. It's most likely Osiris who was cut into 5 pieces
You forgot to mention the cross in his chest and the arms and legs(pieces) that Jesus was crucified on the cross. And slifer= executive branch, obelisk=judges and winged ra= legislative branch. And Yami represents Jesus. And blue eyes white dragon represents lucifer and dark magician represents God’s angel.
