The ending of the movie is left intentionally ambiguous and Takahashi has not confirmed either possibility. He specifically said that his illustration represents, "...just one possible future story." There is no canonical answer to whether or not Kaiba lived or died at the end of the film and likely will not be unless NAS, Konami, and Studio Bridge ever decide to use the character again in a future movie or series. I don't want to come off as obnoxious, but whilst it's true that Takahashi hasn't given the movie a canon ending, it's still a fact that Kaiba did NOT die at the end. Why? because he had the Quantum Cube. See, in the prequel manga (TRANSCEND GAME) Kaiba had already figured out a way to reach the afterlife using not magic, but pure science; His Neurons project allowed him to focus the collective consciousness of people and use it to bridge our reality with that of the afterlife, but it was flawed and incomplete. Had Kaiba tried to reach Atem right there and then, he *would* have died. That's where the Quantum Cube comes in, that magical artifact allows Kaiba's science project to be stabilised and go from one reality to another without first killing him on the spot. And this is *very* relevant because it shows how much Kaiba has grown as a person. He no longer wants to depend on his technology and maths alone to do things, he is now open to the idea of using magic and taking leaps of faith in order to achieve things. It's something that is practically at the end of the movie when everyone is shocked when they realised Kaiba was right and Atem could come back once more. I'm just pointing this out because I'm getting tired of hearing people say that "omg Kaiba just killed himself to see the pharaoh!" when that's not at all what happened. It's true that Takahashi hasn't given a canon ending to the movie, yes, but if we go with the evidence presented in it, the least likely scenario would have been that Kaiba would deliberately kill himself just to see Atem when he had already rejected that option prior to the events of the movie.
@@mlpfanboy1701 The Kaiba corp we've seen in 5ds was nothing but former shell of itself thanks to Yliaster who somehow manage to change the course of history where kaiba or mokuba pretty much non-existence.
But in the Yugioh universe the card game is a full time job for adults. It's a way of life. There is a whole school created to teaching people to play duel monsters in order to excel in their adulthood. Hell even in real life more adults and older teens play yugioh than kids do.

I think, in terms of this theory, Kaiba genuinely started out trying to help combat the energy problem, but, upon learning the power could be used to create powerful new Blue-Eyes, he kind of... Stopped caring about the consequences.

Awesome video. When I was a teenager, I never really paid too much attention to the plot of 5D's besides character interactions and the duels themselves, but you made me notice how impressively detailed the concept of Zero Reverse was. Even if it's a series with really over the top ridiculous card games in motorcycles.
Kaiba is a character that literally developed an amusement park full of death machines to kill Yugi and Joey. He's definitely a villain at least at first.

I actually have a theory that 5Ds and Zexal happen simultaneously, additionally, I believe that while New Domino City is a Kaiba-controlled city, I believe that Heartland is a city founded and run by Pegasus until his eventual death, and that he invented Xyz summoning, because Heartland's aesthetic and the fun simplicity of xyz fit him so perfectly. And given the relationship between Kaiba and Pegasus, I think you can imagine why each of them would not allow the summoning method invented by the other into their own cities.
Yeah, I like the effort put into the video, but I think it is a bit optimistic. I don't think we have enough information to make these claims, it has nothing to do with the science, it's just that we don't even know if this is the same dimension seeing as they started to introduce others, like Zexal doesn't have Synchros for the real reason of Konami pushing product, and other than Pegasus existing in the Bonds Between Time movie, 5D's has little connection to the rest, we have no idea whether it is 50, 200, or 2000 years into the future, and it's funny that GX is only 10 years past the original DM series but has all of the cards before Synchros existed, so I guess card production basically became nonexisitant for 190 years. Kaiba was attacked in Season 4 of GX, we have no idea if he was killed, though Malefic Blue-Eyes is in the Bond Before Time, so somehow Kaiba lost only 1 of his dragons, but that is kinda strange because it is before Atem's ceremony, which makes it either non canon or ignorant of the DSOD movie. I'm used to none of the series or movies fitting in place, because Dragonball does this all the time. The video is well edited for the sake of arguing a point, I just don't think Konami really ever cared as much as its fans, which I am used to as well; The TCG rips off its player base compared to the OCG, in the end, we just want to play with cardboard.
@@Goblin_Hands 5D's has a decent connection to the original series and GX in the form of Trudge who appears in both the original and 5Ds while also being mentioned in GX, giving a relative time frame between YGO and 5Ds since he goes from being a teenager to being middle aged. DSOD is also only canon to the manga timeline of the first three series where Pegasus dies and Kaiba is less sane in general while anime GX and 5Ds continuation of the anime where Pegasus doesn't die when he does in the manga.
I don't think so I'm pretty sure Zexal happened after 5Ds. I heard a theory that zexal occurred in an alternate timeline in which Z-One does defeat Yusei and that there are three alternate timelines in which the timeline Z-One comes from then the timeline Yusei defeats Z-One and then the timeline Z-one defeats Yusei and in which Zexal occurred.
To respond to your question, I feel like Kaiba goes to absurd lengths to satisfy petty, personal desires, but uses the aftermath of his products to help civilization. The boost to Domino's economy from holding the Battle City Tournament? All cause he wanted some god cards. The satellite orbital station used to expand his Network reach across the globe, connect all of humanity past any type of conceptual and physical barriers, and increase the prowess of his Link system and Solid Vision technical capabilities? He made all that so he could solve the Millennium Puzzle in a zero g environment.

That all checks out. In the manga he created solid vision all so he could recreate the first shadow game he had with Yugi at the school and take revenge by giving him a penalty game. Even the duel disk system was only invented in the first place because he thought it'd somehow make Pegasus unable to use his mind reading.

Same here. I wrote up a fanfic outline about it with the MC time-travelling to all the different eras and in my canon Kaiba created the first Synchro monsters at the end of the first arc. This was long before I'd even heard of the idea of Synchros being created or invented. I just figured if anyone could or would invent, it would 100% be Kaiba. I mean they're literally white. Blue and white are his favourite colors.

Man it sure is lucky kaiba wasnt brought about in an arc v dimension. Imagine how far he'd push the boundaries of pendulum and xyz summoning far beyond what LEO does.
I like to think that the mutations synchro summoning causes actually mutated humans a little bit and gave people like Aki/Akiza her psychic powers. This is in tandem with the new psychic type being introduced. But overall the writing of 5ds is amazing.
That honestly can work and funny enough can fit in Akaba Leo's idea of using his Arc System to enhance the Solid Vision for the Duel Monsters card game as he could've researched psychic duelist like Aki as there had to have been history records about them
Why do people claim it's a children's card game? Most of the characters in the yugioh world are adults it is a way of life for EVERYONE in that world. if you don't play yugioh well you are nothing. Hell even in real life this "children's card game" is played more by adults and older teens than it is by children.

I'm always impressed by how Yugioh uses real-life scientific terms for their summoning mechanics. Like fusion, synchro, and overlay network. Pendulum and link seem to be past the time when the creators of Yugioh were meticulous about such things.

Seto Kaiba may be, as the abridged series put it, a super rich a$$hole from a broken home, but in the end he's also one of the smartest characters in the franchise. he probably knew the potential outcome of momentum, but either thought he could find an alternative to it long before then (xyz perhaps?) or simply thought he could come up with a failsafe if the device ever got close to it. the fact that it helped fuel his dragon obsession simply didn't hurt.
Or he simply didn't care about it erradicating humanity since it would happen long after he died, and he calculated how much the system would last before the Zero Reverse XD.
I think inversion would have manifested as a Duel Monster and he predicted the protagonists that was raised by the civilization he built would have collectively kicked its ass.

Something that wouldn't surprise me is if Kaiba knew about inversion and that he designed the system to run on several overlapping systems so they could be powered down in rotation and restarted before the tipping point where the inversion becomes a problem and people later decided to just keep them running nonstop because it would be a cheaper way to get more energy out of them rather than building more of them as energy requirements in running cities grew.
I feel like when it comes to Kaiba, he did both. He was originally just trying to figure out how to add new blue eyes to his deck, but he ends up discovering this unlimited power source by accident while doing so. That or vice versa. He could've been trying to just make this powerful source of energy in order to help Domino City, and the new blue eyes cards could just very well be a bi product that just so happened to be linked to said source of power.
I just kinda realized that all Extra Deck summoning methods reference some kind of energy. There's what you mentioned about Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz here, but Link monsters are basically the circuit that lets them connect to one another. Which I think is really interesting.
you know what must be messed up? lets say you live in the yugiohverse. you rip open some booster packs and pull Blue Eye White dragon support like White Stone of Legend or Sage with Eyes of Blue. but then you remember that only 4 Blue Eyes exist. one's damaged, and 3 are in the hands of a 1%er. that would be like Konami releasing support for Tyler the Great Warrior.

You can actually tie in the fusion mechanic with Duel Terminal as well. The Shadoll Fusion broke the physics of the world (with the result being greater than the sum of its parts)... This resulted in the "system" responding very badly. Unleashing Qlis and Infernoids to attempt a hard reset on the DT world.

Kaiba didnt die in The end of DSOD man 😲 It was his conciousness transcend into another dimension/ reality. The afterlife only another realm of conciousness. He indeed can back into his own body with that 8th millenium item (the cube). This thing related to Yusei's limit over accel synchro whatever in the end. Wow, this video is just, *chef’s kiss*, never thought i’d learn physics from a yugioh video. I did notice that you never talked about tuner monsters, and then got curious. I found that the definition of tuner is ‘something that receives and adjusts or configures (musical or electromagnetic) waves, or mechanical devices’, such as tuning into a radio station, tuning a musical instruments, or a cars. Both definitions could apply to synchro monsters. What if synchro summoning is one monster improving the other, ‘tuning it’ via the other kind of tuning, aligning and amplifying the energy of it via constructive interference when fusing with them? It would be overcoming the inefficiencies of fusion by combining them like waves instead of particles, which could be a clever way of exploiting the fact that particles and waves are two sides of the same coin on the quantum level, like how a ray of light is both a stream of particles and a wave. Particles of matter can also resonate with waves, like how sound can shatter glass! It even fits with the neo spacian experiments, since contact fusion is something they can do. That could be the prototype of synchro summoning. I actually have a theory of my own regarding the anime timeline. This might sound crazy, but I believe Yuma Tsukumo is the great grandson of Yusei Fudo and Akiza Izinski. Hear me out. First, let’s look at Yuma’s confirmed family tree. We have Yuma and Kari as the children of Kazuma and Mira Tsukumo. Kazuma Tsukumo is the son of Haru Tsukumo, whose husband is unknown. In addition , Haru’s maiden name is completely unknown, so we don’t known the family tree beyond her. Now let’s take into consideration the fact that hair color and hair style are both genetic in this universe. As we see through several parents and children, Yusei inherited his hair from his father, Yuma inherited his from Kazuma, and even Yugi looks like Solomon Muto in his youth. Now let’s compare the hair styles across the generations. Yusei and Yuma’s styles are similar in that they feature spikes that start low on the sides of their heads and bend upwards. They even both have two tones, having primarily black hair with an additional highlight. While Yusei’s highlights are gold, Yuma’s are a red not unlike that of Akiza’s monotone hair color. Speaking of which Kari Tsukumo is a dead ringer for Akiza in a ponytail. And then there’s Haru Tsukumo, who is the linchpin to this whole theory. While her hair has faded in her old age, she still has the distinct two-tone hair present in both the Tsukumo and Fudo bloodlines. And how is her hair styled? With bangs that come up and bend down to frame her face with the rest of her hair tied in a bun at the back of her head, exactly like how Akiza wears her hair at the end of 5Ds as a doctor. And there there are other things to consider, like Kari and presumably Kazuma’s proficiency with a motorcycle and Kazuma’s profession as an adventurer/archeologist potentially tying back to the varied ancient powers related to 5Ds. The way I see it, Yusei and Akiza eventually married and had a daughter named Haru. Haru would eventually marry and take the name Haru Tsukumo, giving birth to a son, Kazuma Tsukumo. Inspired by his grandparents’ stories, Kazuma would become an avid adventurer/archeologist and motorcycle enthusiasts. Kazuma would marry Mira and the two would have two children, Kari and Yuma, the latter of whom would grow to become a great duelist who would save the world through he game he loved, just like his great grandparents before him.

The ending of the movie is left intentionally ambiguous and Takahashi has not confirmed either possibility. He specifically said that his illustration represents, "...just one possible future story." There is no canonical answer to whether or not Kaiba lived or died at the end of the film and likely will not be unless NAS, Konami, and Studio Bridge ever decide to use the character again in a future movie or series. I don't want to come off as obnoxious, but whilst it's true that Takahashi hasn't given the movie a canon ending, it's still a fact that Kaiba did NOT die at the end. Why? because he had the Quantum Cube.
See, in the prequel manga (TRANSCEND GAME) Kaiba had already figured out a way to reach the afterlife using not magic, but pure science; His Neurons project allowed him to focus the collective consciousness of people and use it to bridge our reality with that of the afterlife, but it was flawed and incomplete. Had Kaiba tried to reach Atem right there and then, he *would* have died.
That's where the Quantum Cube comes in, that magical artifact allows Kaiba's science project to be stabilised and go from one reality to another without first killing him on the spot.
And this is *very* relevant because it shows how much Kaiba has grown as a person. He no longer wants to depend on his technology and maths alone to do things, he is now open to the idea of using magic and taking leaps of faith in order to achieve things. It's something that is practically at the end of the movie when everyone is shocked when they realised Kaiba was right and Atem could come back once more.
I'm just pointing this out because I'm getting tired of hearing people say that "omg Kaiba just killed himself to see the pharaoh!" when that's not at all what happened. It's true that Takahashi hasn't given a canon ending to the movie, yes, but if we go with the evidence presented in it, the least likely scenario would have been that Kaiba would deliberately kill himself just to see Atem when he had already rejected that option prior to the events of the movie.
Kaiba: Okay, I'm going to make a new summoning method so if Atem tries to play this game again he will say something like: "Synchro what?"

They've essentially took the original concept and message of Godzilla and adapted it into the one of the biggest card games in the world.

I actually have a theory that 5Ds and Zexal happen simultaneously, additionally, I believe that while New Domino City is a Kaiba-controlled city, I believe that Heartland is a city founded and run by Pegasus until his eventual death, and that he invented Xyz summoning, because Heartland's aesthetic and the fun simplicity of xyz fit him so perfectly. And given the relationship between Kaiba and Pegasus, I think you can imagine why each of them would not allow the summoning method invented by the other into their own cities.
Yeah, I like the effort put into the video, but I think it is a bit optimistic.
I don't think we have enough information to make these claims, it has nothing to do with the science, it's just that we don't even know if this is the same dimension seeing as they started to introduce others, like Zexal doesn't have Synchros for the real reason of Konami pushing product, and other than Pegasus existing in the Bonds Between Time movie, 5D's has little connection to the rest, we have no idea whether it is 50, 200, or 2000 years into the future, and it's funny that GX is only 10 years past the original DM series but has all of the cards before Synchros existed, so I guess card production basically became nonexisitant for 190 years. Kaiba was attacked in Season 4 of GX, we have no idea if he was killed, though Malefic Blue-Eyes is in the Bond Before Time, so somehow Kaiba lost only 1 of his dragons, but that is kinda strange because it is before Atem's ceremony, which makes it either non canon or ignorant of the DSOD movie. I'm used to none of the series or movies fitting in place, because Dragonball does this all the time.
The video is well edited for the sake of arguing a point, I just don't think Konami really ever cared as much as its fans, which I am used to as well; The TCG rips off its player base compared to the OCG, in the end, we just want to play with cardboard.

DSOD is also only canon to the manga timeline of the first three series where Pegasus dies and Kaiba is less sane in general while anime GX and 5Ds continuation of the anime where Pegasus doesn't die when he does in the manga.

I heard a theory that zexal occurred in an alternate timeline in which Z-One does defeat Yusei and that there are three alternate timelines in which the timeline Z-One comes from then the timeline Yusei defeats Z-One and then the timeline Z-one defeats Yusei and in which Zexal occurred.

Same here. I wrote up a fanfic outline about it with the MC time-travelling to all the different eras and in my canon Kaiba created the first Synchro monsters at the end of the first arc. This was long before I'd even heard of the idea of Synchros being created or invented. I just figured if anyone could or would invent, it would 100% be Kaiba. I mean they're literally white. Blue and white are his favourite colors.

Man it sure is lucky kaiba wasnt brought about in an arc v dimension. Imagine how far he'd push the boundaries of pendulum and xyz summoning far beyond what LEO does.
I like to think that the mutations synchro summoning causes actually mutated humans a little bit and gave people like Aki/Akiza her psychic powers. This is in tandem with the new psychic type being introduced. But overall the writing of 5ds is amazing.
That honestly can work and funny enough can fit in Akaba Leo's idea of using his Arc System to enhance the Solid Vision for the Duel Monsters card game as he could've researched psychic duelist like Aki as there had to have been history records about them
Poor Kaiba. He's always haunted by his inability to win against Yugi in a children's card games.
Why do people claim it's a children's card game? Most of the characters in the yugioh world are adults it is a way of life for EVERYONE in that world. if you don't play yugioh well you are nothing. Hell even in real life this "children's card game" is played more by adults and older teens than it is by children.

I'm always impressed by how Yugioh uses real-life scientific terms for their summoning mechanics. Like fusion, synchro, and overlay network. Pendulum and link seem to be past the time when the creators of Yugioh were meticulous about such things.

Seto Kaiba may be, as the abridged series put it, a super rich a$$hole from a broken home, but in the end he's also one of the smartest characters in the franchise. he probably knew the potential outcome of momentum, but either thought he could find an alternative to it long before then (xyz perhaps?) or simply thought he could come up with a failsafe if the device ever got close to it. the fact that it helped fuel his dragon obsession simply didn't hurt.
Or he simply didn't care about it erradicating humanity since it would happen long after he died, and he calculated how much the system would last before the Zero Reverse XD.
I think inversion would have manifested as a Duel Monster and he predicted the protagonists that was raised by the civilization he built would have collectively kicked its ass.

Something that wouldn't surprise me is if Kaiba knew about inversion and that he designed the system to run on several overlapping systems so they could be powered down in rotation and restarted before the tipping point where the inversion becomes a problem and people later decided to just keep them running nonstop because it would be a cheaper way to get more energy out of them rather than building more of them as energy requirements in running cities grew.

I feel like when it comes to Kaiba, he did both. He was originally just trying to figure out how to add new blue eyes to his deck, but he ends up discovering this unlimited power source by accident while doing so. That or vice versa. He could've been trying to just make this powerful source of energy in order to help Domino City, and the new blue eyes cards could just very well be a bi product that just so happened to be linked to said source of power.

I just kinda realized that all Extra Deck summoning methods reference some kind of energy. There's what you mentioned about Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz here, but Link monsters are basically the circuit that lets them connect to one another. Which I think is really interesting.
you know what must be messed up? lets say you live in the yugiohverse. you rip open some booster packs and pull Blue Eye White dragon support like White Stone of Legend or Sage with Eyes of Blue. but then you remember that only 4 Blue Eyes exist. one's damaged, and 3 are in the hands of a 1%er. that would be like Konami releasing support for Tyler the Great Warrior.

You can actually tie in the fusion mechanic with Duel Terminal as well. The Shadoll Fusion broke the physics of the world (with the result being greater than the sum of its parts)... This resulted in the "system" responding very badly. Unleashing Qlis and Infernoids to attempt a hard reset on the DT world.

Wow, this video is just, *chef’s kiss*, never thought i’d learn physics from a yugioh video.
I did notice that you never talked about tuner monsters, and then got curious. I found that the definition of tuner is ‘something that receives and adjusts or configures (musical or electromagnetic) waves, or mechanical devices’, such as tuning into a radio station, tuning a musical instruments, or a cars. Both definitions could apply to synchro monsters. What if synchro summoning is one monster improving the other, ‘tuning it’ via the other kind of tuning, aligning and amplifying the energy of it via constructive interference when fusing with them?
It would be overcoming the inefficiencies of fusion by combining them like waves instead of particles, which could be a clever way of exploiting the fact that particles and waves are two sides of the same coin on the quantum level, like how a ray of light is both a stream of particles and a wave. Particles of matter can also resonate with waves, like how sound can shatter glass!
It even fits with the neo spacian experiments, since contact fusion is something they can do. That could be the prototype of synchro summoning.
That would make synchro summoning still be fusion, even if exploiting the particle/wave duality and resonance, and since fusion emits particles and radiation as much as fission does, the conclusions you made based on it being fission aren’t changed by this alternate theory.

I actually have a theory of my own regarding the anime timeline. This might sound crazy, but I believe Yuma Tsukumo is the great grandson of Yusei Fudo and Akiza Izinski. Hear me out.
First, let’s look at Yuma’s confirmed family tree. We have Yuma and Kari as the children of Kazuma and Mira Tsukumo. Kazuma Tsukumo is the son of Haru Tsukumo, whose husband is unknown. In addition , Haru’s maiden name is completely unknown, so we don’t known the family tree beyond her.
Now let’s take into consideration the fact that hair color and hair style are both genetic in this universe. As we see through several parents and children, Yusei inherited his hair from his father, Yuma inherited his from Kazuma, and even Yugi looks like Solomon Muto in his youth.
Now let’s compare the hair styles across the generations. Yusei and Yuma’s styles are similar in that they feature spikes that start low on the sides of their heads and bend upwards. They even both have two tones, having primarily black hair with an additional highlight. While Yusei’s highlights are gold, Yuma’s are a red not unlike that of Akiza’s monotone hair color. Speaking of which Kari Tsukumo is a dead ringer for Akiza in a ponytail. And then there’s Haru Tsukumo, who is the linchpin to this whole theory. While her hair has faded in her old age, she still has the distinct two-tone hair present in both the Tsukumo and Fudo bloodlines. And how is her hair styled? With bangs that come up and bend down to frame her face with the rest of her hair tied in a bun at the back of her head, exactly like how Akiza wears her hair at the end of 5Ds as a doctor.
And there there are other things to consider, like Kari and presumably Kazuma’s proficiency with a motorcycle and Kazuma’s profession as an adventurer/archeologist potentially tying back to the varied ancient powers related to 5Ds.
The way I see it, Yusei and Akiza eventually married and had a daughter named Haru. Haru would eventually marry and take the name Haru Tsukumo, giving birth to a son, Kazuma Tsukumo. Inspired by his grandparents’ stories, Kazuma would become an avid adventurer/archeologist and motorcycle enthusiasts. Kazuma would marry Mira and the two would have two children, Kari and Yuma, the latter of whom would grow to become a great duelist who would save the world through he game he loved, just like his great grandparents before him.

If you look at Grandpa Motou and Yugi's hair plus Professor Fudo and Yusei Fudo's hair it's more likely that they are actually related to each other. As for the last name... it's not that unheard of for a guy to take the woman he marries last name even if it's not common.
