That is disappointing. I am sitting out the 3S in favor of seeing what the M4Pro looks to deliver. Hope you get it resolved @Brian either via firmware, or warranty service.
I was flying on Friday night about an hour before sunset on the bay, and harsh setting sun was setting off my sensors even as I hovered a 100 feet, and I over the water. But nothing to the degree you experienced in this video. On a different flight I flew pretty close to the fishing pier and sensors didn't go off. I would say your drone has an issue, and you should probably contact DJI Support, and hopefully get a replacement unit. Let me know if you get this issue sorted out.
Is there anyway to shutoff or disable the lidar sensor? Apparently the maritime industry uses lidar for different applications and lidar signals can interfere with each other.
Hello, I had the same problem, it's a little freaked out because I told myself that the drone already has a problem however I am used to DJI (phantom 4, air2s and now the air3s) this morning I did the last update and no more problems. I think it was caused by default software. Do not hesitate to update the drone and not the flyplan.
Same thing happened to my regular Air 3 when I first got it, but in the morning, from dark to light. Wide open sky, the sun was up a little bit. It was light but not full daylight. It kept seeing imaginary walls.
You had your sensors dirty with your fingerprints or something, that plus the sun shining on the right creates a reflection in the fisheye lenses of the sensor which creates that issue. Make sure you ALWAYS have your sensor clean, free of grease or fingerprints, carry a microfiber cloth and clean them beofre every flight. I can almost 100% guarantee you that's the issue you're having here.
Mr. Kushner has more hours on drones than most. If an experienced drone pilot and videographer is having this issue, my money is that the drone needs attention and it was not fingerprints.
Yikes, hopefully you just got a bad drone and this won't be a widespread issue...I did see another RUclipsr talking about the drone oscillating due to false obstacles being detected on a flight over water, so I wonder if their issue was related.
@@BrianKushner there’s a transition period when it starts getting dark and the sensors are trying to work and they get confused. When it gets dark they switch off
And update the firmware to fix the errors.
Correct, that fixed it 2 days after I posted this video

The latest firmware update from a couple days ago fixed the issue for me.
@@BrianKushner That’s good news.
Where the camera is pointing doesn't affect obstacle avoidance
Great video thanks

Tuning sensors off works so I assume they are all connected to the one setting.

Yes the updated firmware fixed mine also.
Just switch off the sensors when flying close to objects, so that they dont stop you.
Hopefully it’s just a bad unit and not a serious bug they need to fix
It was fixed with the most recent firmware update from a few days ago

I had similar with the Air 3 this is why I don't think a drone replacement will fix this.
Woow, maybe need a new update 😎
Is there anything under Advance Safety Settings to disable the lidar sensor?

This was brand new out of the box. There was nothing on the sensors.

Looks like something is wrong with your unit, been flying the air3s last 4,5 weeks and zero problems
Have you flown in low light? This happens about 10 minutes after sunset.
@@BrianKushner yes I have, not a problem
Wipe all your sensors clean!
Dirt or grease on sensors.
Brand new out of the box. It wasn't the sensors.
Dji will have a update
delware rivr?
Yes Gloucester.

I've ordered another but expect the same.
Is Air sense turned on? Because I see planes all over your drone
No Airsense is off.
Your sensors need calibration buddy
Firmware fixed it
Your sensors are going off all of the time because the light is low
So how do you fly at night?

@@paulhiggins5266 Yes this is what's happening. However, all my other drones did not stop a hyperlapse because of this.
Ship's radar/navigation system creating interference with lidar? just a guess
Happens at 300 feet pointing to the sky.
Not good
