Thanks Billy, I am already overwhelmed with my Air3 with its capabilities and haven't even explored all yet. The speed alone on the Air 3 is astronomically bonkers . So I am cool. Moreover, the kind of drone pilot I am, I don't need to go and hide in a bunker, or go under two levels of a car park and fly from there to check how cool the drone could return to me . I love to shoot cinematic stuff using VLOS , visual line of sight. The only positive I could take from the Air3s would be the sensor size. But after all , people with such sensors will still color grade heavily right? . Thanks to DJI for the creativity and innovations. My Air 3 is good enough for now. Waiting for Mavic 4.
I love my air 3 a lot- the speed alone made me jump from minis to the big drone it allows me pump out photos fast and get to the next destination quickly.
I think us Mini 3 pro users kinda got the short end of the stick. Let's be honest the Mini 4 pro was really just a Mini 3 pro with all the stuff fixed everyone was complaining about. Either way I agree, I think it's time for an Air 3s.
Alot of people are overlooking the new quick transfer feature. Being able to transfer data from the drone to your computer without turning it on is huge for me. With my mini 3 pro I always had to remove the gimbal cover to get the pillow out from behind the gimbal and unfold the bottom arms before turning it on. The gimbal and props do move when u turn on the drone so I never wanted them to be stuck in place in case it put stress on the motors.
There is a small circle one the top right of the screen that allows you to see which senors are working! The forward facing light is on a night to show the LiDAR is working.
Watching this video now, and learning some great things. Awesome 😊 By the way, I am looking forward to the the main 1" sensor on the Air 3S comparison with the Air 2S, for photographers, since the Air 2S is 20mp and the Air 3S is 12/50mp.
20:18 correctly summarized :) I upgraded from the Mini 3 Pro to the Air 3s and i dont regred it. Almost no differences in legal restrictions here in germany. "Free pano" with aeb (3 or 5 images), 70mm lens. 360 obstacle avoidance, longer flight time, much more stabel in windy conditions are all pro`s in my case
Great breakdown Billy! I’m one of the air2s owners and this new 3s is tempting. I’m just going to hold off for a little while longer as I’m expecting the Mavic 4 to be very close to release and potentially could be a total game changer. Find out soon hopefully!
@fendrou maybe on paper but maybe with the new processing chips and updated sensor technology the air3s may turn out better. But that's why I'd like to see a side by side comparison done in both up to 4k 60 and then compare it to the 5.4k
Totally agree with you, not worth the upgrade if you own the Air 3, but if your coming from an older drone or a mini drone, than it might be time to pull the trigger. There are so many small improvement with this drone, that they all add up to make it a much better user experience. And there something different about this camera, that I can't put my finger on it, but it just looks better. Great video Billy, thanks for sharing.
Thanx Billy. I've been waiting for a credible review of the Air 3s low-light capabilities and would have upgraded if you had found a superior platform. I even think the daytime videos favor the Air 3. Looks like I'll be keeping my Air 3 for a while. I enjoy it more than my Mavic 3 as well. Thanx again for the great work!
Hi Billy, Thank you for your excellent and informative comparison video on the new DJI Air 3S. It is an excellent new drone with a lot of new features. Since I own a DJI Air 3 and EVO Lite Plus, I'm holding off to see what DJI has in store. Again, Thank You! Will you be going to the Las Vegas Meetup?
photography is an attraction...... IMO.... I mean... what looks great to one,,, doesn't for the other..... TBS..... I was happy with the spark video.... I remember saying.... wow 1080p..... it just can't get any better then this... I mean my eyes can't see any better right??? but then you put it up against todays and I wonder.... when is there going to be a end????

Thanks for the Video and for providing the files - it's awsome to be able to pixel peep and draw your own conclusions :) . The difference to me is quite substantial, thou propably not really visible to most people. The fine detail in the Air3s videos look much better and the photos are sharper, have better color and contrast. But: The Air3s does suffer from increased moire and aliasing (probably due to the lack of an aa filter, which in turn might also be resposible for the better detail rendering). Also: I did notice, that your Air3 seems to have a decentered 24mm lens, the left part of all your images is a lot softer then the right part. An issue that quite a few Air3 owners seem to have, at least according to the dji forum. Don't think, that changes the results of the comparision, just compare the right part of the images :D .
Great Honest Video, I have the Air 3 and was hoping for at least 5k with variable aperture, the only feature I like is the increase speed, LiDAR and the advance RTH just lipstick
I do like my sensors extra thicc To be honest I don't fly at night but there may be some scenarios I can see myself trying. The air 3S got several software features that makes it worth it imo if you don't already have the air 3. I see two listings on ebay, the air 3 is only $1k for flymore kit with RC2, while the same kit with the 3S is $1,600 so its a lot more... You could buy a new pocket 3 with the different in cash
Careful ordering these direct from DJI, mine was detained by customs and now fighting to get DJI to give me a refund. Two thumbs down for this company who knowingly sold to consumers knowing the conditions at the U.S. border. Buyer beware.
Wouldn’t call the mini 4 pro old drone (it even is newer than air 3 btw), but just another category of drones… You sacrifice second camera and 1 inch sensor for portability and less restrictions. For me, not worth an upgrade, since obstacle avoidance is already perfect on mini 4 pro and even the 70mm lens is good, it isn’t worth the size tradeoff. 1 inch sensor is fine, but I don’t see drastic improvement over air 3 video or photo, since air 3 and mini 4 pro share the same camera…
Great Review!!!! Soooo, for me, wanting to Upgrade from a Mini 3 Pro...and one who wants to do Twilight/Night videos, Should I get the Air 3 or Air 3S... I'm leaning towards the Air 3 and Night Mode feature... I'm NO Pro, But I'm curious as to what a Pro would recommend to a Hobbyist like myself... Thanks ! you must shoot only during the day for 13 minutes at a time. The Air 3 BLOWS AWAY the Air 2s in battery life and night time shooting. I prefer to fly at night for a half hour at a time. LOL
I flew my air 2s over 3000 minutes, and it gets about 25-30 minutes off a battery. Only big down side is night shots if thats something you do and one lens, although you can still get sweet shots at 4k 60 fps that it crops in on. It also comes with a slightly wider lens than the air 3, and the wide angle lens attachment for those drones create too much distortion. For those tight shots, the air 3 isn’t as flexible. I very much could still be using the air 2s drone if it didn’t fall out of the sky due to loss of power 😢 recently saw a brand new air 2s on eBay for $600 and I was super tempted to get it. Just returned my Air 3 and waiting for the air 3s to get to Best Buy.. using a mini 4 pro atm, it gets tossed around to much in the wind but it’s getting the job done.

No, the DJI Air 3S has a 'Maximum Horizontal Speed' of 42.5 mph / 68.4 km/h in the EU. That's actually slower than the DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone (47 mph / 75.6 km/h) under the EU rules. It has something to do with the rules for C1 and C2 certified drones.
I was wondering about this as well - Jake Sloan and others confirmed this. The Air 2S does have a true 20mp sensor while the Air 3S has a 12mp stacked quad bayer sensor. I'm a photographer 1st and a drone pilot second. To me the Air 2S is still the better choice. I'm also still flying the Autel Evo II Pro as the camera on that drone are still cleaner and better then most drones out there - I'll deal with the occasional crooked horizon when I want the best photos with the best colors for myself and my customers.
Great videos Billy. Looking forward the air 2s vs air 3s still photography comparing! Please do it soon.

Thank you for your honest review, we drone pilots appreciate it😊😊😊
I feel like a drone/sensor specifically centered around still photographs would be a huge enticer to me.
Go for Air2s of a mavic 3 series
I think you just convinced me to upgrade from my Mini 3 Pro to an Air 3S and give up my dream of a Mavic 3 Pro.

@kylecouture1917 it is nice to not have to turn it on and it seems to be alot faster using a cable to directly transfer over to my phone

Photography speaking the Air2s is superior to any of the Air3s
Can someone do a comparison between the air 2s main camera and the air3s camera
No comparison. The Air2s is far superior! This Air3s 12mp camera is a gimmick 🤬
@fendrou maybe on paper but maybe with the new processing chips and updated sensor technology the air3s may turn out better. But that's why I'd like to see a side by side comparison done in both up to 4k 60 and then compare it to the 5.4k
