Hello from South Africa. They are both great drones as I have most Dji drones available, I have them both and find each one has its own uses, I would not use the mini4 pro in heavy winds as I would have the Air 3s for that, when it comes to shooting scenes where one cannot fly too close I use the Air 3s telephoto camera, whereas the Mini 4 pro is better in tight spaces and indoors, great video comparison thanks for taking the effort to make this video, good one.
Yep totally agree with those use cases for both drones. If one has the luxury of owning both, it definitely makes sense as they have their own pros and cons. Glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching and leaving your two cents ✌️
Well I have the mini 4pro. I'm learning it's to an not to doe's. Now I want air 3s thanks for the information. Great video. Keep on flying my friend. An fly safe.
Glad you liked the video man! The Mini 4 Pro is a fantastic drone, I'm sure you know the kind of great shots you can get with it. But the Air 3S just has that little bit extra...
@SightseeingStan I tried the rocket mode yesterday. It did the same thing looked straight up when locked on me. I did it locked on my van the gimbal didn't do it this time didn't do it. What's up with that you think
Add in the cost to register the Air 3S and the cost to get Part 107 pilot certification and to take the test every 2 years, the Mini 4 drone's total cost of ownership is $1,000 less even if you place no value on the time to study for the FAA test and time to drive to a test facility. I bought a Phantom 4 Pro in 2017 and each year the restrictions increased to the point where my drone is not legal to fly in the United States. The Mini 4 that is exempt from FAA Part 107 is what I decided to buy.
I didn't think you have to get your part 107 unless you wanted to make money with it. I have the avavta 2 and it's over 250 grams. And I didn't get my 107. I didn't register it either. Unless dji does that for you.
Nice job Stan, thank you! I own 4 DJI drones and the last 2 buys were the Air2S AND Mini4. I flew my first drone at a military show in the UAE in 2005. That drobe sold for more the$50K and was less capable than the Mini 4. I found that technology keeps pushing the envelope/functinality/deliverables that often less is more. I travel around the world and my Mini4 usually makes the trip.
Great content thanks - but You forgot to tell about Fly More Combo Plus - ( extended battery ) in Mini 4 Pro - which is fly time about 45 min 😇, And also in Mini 4 Pro has True vertical shoots😉
I have the Air 3 , Air 3s , mini 4 pro, Avata 2 and Neo. All these drones work very well. Footage from all but the Neo is somewhat comparable. In my humble opinion I think it really comes done to money and each individuals budget. Because even if the air 3 s was far superior to the mini 4 pro it’s a good chunk of change more expensive. So my opinion would be go with what is affordable to you. Both of these drones take great footage.
Ordered my Air 3s on October 31. It spent over a month in US Customs until finally ordered a refund. I'll pick one up as soon as Amazon has them in stock. Might be several months. DJI says they are working on this problem. I've had the Mini 4 Pro and the Avata 2 (motion and manual controllers) since their release.
Dang you got them drones. I have the mini 3 pro and the avavta 2. I don't touch my mini anymore. It's boring compared to the avavta 2. I just need to learn to fly better in manual mode. I'm on my 3rd avavta. Do you still enjoy flying your mini?
Video bitrate is higher on the Mini 4 Pro: 150 Mb/s. Air 3S has a maximum of 130 Mb/s I just got the Mini 4 Pro Fly more combo... my first ever drone. Now I have to register and pay the fee... For the Air 3S I would also need to pass an exam and get certified... But the Air 3S is better for business... For me that will come by spring of next year.
The Mini 4 is pretty recent but at the rate which DJI is releasing new gear, who knows! Eitherway, I think these drones are at such a high level now that most updates are mostly little extra features
Try this with your Mini 4 Pro if you live in the US: Fly all the way up to 1,640 feet and just hover there. Take 10 minutes to pan around, zoom in and out. Its like you can sit on top of the world and then return your drone to your hands (this thing was just at 1,640 feet). You have an amazing drone.
@@NGMdrones YES! I can't believe I forgot to mention that, cause I was talking about that while doing some of these tests. Here the Mini 4 Pro wins, the Air 3S batteries take longer to charge. Which makes sense considering they have a higher capacity.
i have air3 and 3s, put them on a steady place and took same photos&shots. daylight-night etc. sensor of air 3s is at least two stops cleaner than air3 sensor, dynamic range is clearly better. Big difference is in the lens, air3s lens is much sharper than air3&minipro4 lens, espescially in the mid-corner areas where air3 is loosing a lot of details, air3s gives fantastic details, and my air3 has a good centered lens (lucky one). IQ of air3s waaay better than air3/mini4pro , if you cant see the huge difference, problem is with you guys. However, although air3s sensor&lens is much better than air3/mini4pro, it is definitely not 14EV sensor. I have also sony a7iv, a7cii cameras that have true 14ev fullframe sensor,,,,output of these sensors are light years better than air3s sensor in both photo and video, not even worth to compare.
There are videos out there comparing those two. I think this is also an interesting comparison because there's not a huge price difference between the Air 3S and Mini 4 Pro.
@SightseeingStan the reason why I'm saying that is because I already had 1 video. The guy did a pretty good review on it. The air 3 is not far off from the air 3S other than the lidar. Basically, dji added a little goodies, but the camera's not anywhere where you can see night and day difference. So it'll help people to make that decision if they want to spend the extra $500 on that drone. But great job on your review
Not really - I have the Mini SE and get some amazing stuff out of it. I NEED the more modern features from new models, but they both have the features I'm looking for. As a pro photographer, I like the sensor and lens combo of the 3S, but I absolutely love the size, convenience, and noise levels of the mini (I do a lot of sporting events and equestrian shows / meets, where the noise can be a BIG factor, and potentially even cause people to question results or rankings, etc.) So yeah, this was a perfect video for me - the price difference really isn't the factor, but if registering and dealing with more paperwork and oversight is a thing with the Air, plus the larger size and additional noise? Well, I'd rather fly the Mini 4 Pro which will be an incredible upgrade over the 1st gen Mini.
In my tests of the A3s, it wasn’t too much of an improvement imo. I uploaded the results. It still struggles with dead limbs/twigs. I was disappointed in this with it having the LiDAR as well. Also bobbles more in the wind bc the body is taller.
I actually thought the same in this video - the Mini 4 Pro seemed more "natural" with its avoidance, while the Air was more like a person about to bump into something in the dark, getting startled, backing up a few steps, and going "WOW, what was that?!" - perhaps they need to make things a bit more... elegant with software updates? Then again, maybe the Mini looked more graceful because it was about to run into stuff but didn't know or care LOL.

It was just a lot of stress. These days it’s nice you can fly legally in most places and the Mini 4 Pro quality is pretty impressive with the DLOGM.
I was just stopping in to point this out. In the US, if you're a recreational drone operator, it HAS to be under 250g or you're considered a commercial drone op, have to register, get your license and follow all Part 107 rules. In Canada, there's no distinction between commercial or recreational - BUT, ALL drones under 250g regardless of use are exempted from most (but not all) restrictions. So if you don't want the hassles of registering, using RemoteID, getting a license and having a LOT more restrictions put on you, get the Mini 4 Pro. The image quality is almost as good, it's so much easier to carry around with you all the time and heck, it's even cheaper.
@@nybrand Why? What does the Air offer that the Mini 4 Pro can't do over water for example? And they're both rated at 45 min with the same transmission tech and distances. Any why "within sight" ? - the thing boasts ~20km transmission range and you will "only use it within sight"?! lol. I fly my ancient 1st gen mini with the original RF transmission tech around buildings and obstacles perfectly fine and have got some amazing shots with it. You also mention "good weather" - my mini 1 has been in some serious winds with no (well, minimal) issues. So with all of that in mind, maybe you can elaborate.
