Good distance, but not great. My Air 3 can go 13000m one way. Three main things you need to do to improve your distance : 1- don't record videos on the drone; instead, do a screen recording on the controller 2 - go in straingt line don't "look around" 3 - go back in RTH, the drone will pick the best speed based on wind and battery %, flying back manually burns more energy
when I do this I use normal setting and cruise control to keep a steady economical flight speed , saves having to try and keep constant speed on the stick , no pins and needles 🤣
You’re definitely correct. But it’s impossible for me not to look around while I’m flying a drone :) And I record the 4K videos so this video isn’t potato quality for everyone watching 👀 I’m sure you could get a bit further but realistically when you’re flying you’d be recording videos
Danny! Great flight! Hey have you tried out the Virture Pro glasses yet? My best friend uses them with his Air3s. I just ordered them today for my Air 3. They plug right into the rc2 controller, give you a heck of a great view and you can still use all of the features on the controller and the zoom lens! I can guarantee you'll love them. Not quite as immersive as the goggles but still like having a 60 in TV in front of you. Much better than looking at the controller in your hands.
As an aerial videographer, I own a drone, but it's camera quality is limited due to its affordability. I'm impressed by the breathtaking footage from advanced drone, ideal for capturing stunning aerial music video. 😊😊😊
At 20:14 your antennas are at a 45 degree angle. I assume they were that way the entire flight. They should be vertical for maximum range. But, guess what? DJI's tech is so good it didn't matter, like, at all! You had no range issues at all. Amazing stuff.
Congratulations for your personal record and the great video. In the middle of which I looked out the window to see the drone arrive! Greetings from Italy
I tried this kind of range test once with my mini 4 pro CE, reached 5km and cameback at 15% battery 😂 Can definitely went further if I'm not recording 2-3min of 4K videos. Great test! Nice to see Air 3s can reached 10km!
Well done, you understand that you are flying into the wind and coming back with the wind pushing the drone, you could go further, finally using the corner screen (different one) that always show U how to direct your controller to get max reception. Honestly I have reached 6.5 k in B.C with my mini 3. Your speed is shown by metre/sec . Again the proper corner map could be useful. Yellow bars when you move. Last flight was same speed both ways ? Love your Hawaii and Switzerland (my home) videos.
Sweet! I really love my AIR 3, & I just got the Mavic 3 Pro last month, but im a complete sucker for DJI, & ordered the AIR 3S a few days ago. I have 3 batteries for my AIR 3 & I already have two RC 2 Controllers, for my AIR 3 & Mini 4 Pro. I was interested in the new AIR 3S but I wasn't planning on buying it, until the drone only option was available, but my wife actually gave me the green light. So my new AiR 3S will be here on the 14th. Ive pushed my AIR 3 out a hair over 5 miles before I chickened out & still had almost 30% upon return. Ive only taken my Mavic 3 Pro out a mile and half , before I turned around, I don't have balls to push the M3P out to far, even though I have the DJI Cate refresh plan on it, it still cost over $700 for a Mavic 3 Pro Fly away or lost drone.
To be fair, Dustin Dunnill got his longest range with OG Mavic 3 using O3+ on Maui. That spot he used often had the ground drop away the whole trip out (down a mountanside or Volcanoside to be accurate.) Look at the distances he got! 9.05 mile -18.1 round trip 14.56 km 29.12 round trip Using RC Pro, which put out 2 watts power stock. 33DBm / 1998mw Not trying to one up you, I love your range tests. Wow! Some people have too much money. Its already an expensive aircraft and too push a battery to where you have to throw it away after 1 use is crazy. But its a beautiful drone and some beautiful scenery. My Typhoon H says it has a 2 mile range but I wouldnt push half of that

Great video by the way. DJI drones are becoming more capable with every product release. Can't wait for my used Air 3 to arrive in the post.

You do realize you are in strict violation of FAA rules that you must keep your drone within visual range at all times. I cannot fly my drone past about 1000 ft. before I lose sight of it. You were approaching 6 miles. If you don’t have a Part 107 Certification, you are not supposed to fly over people not under cover or in a car. Having grown up in COS and watching your line of flight, it was impossible not to fly over people in the open as you crossed Colorado Avenue. Have you registered your drone on the FAA Drone Zone? Have you completed the TRUST Exam? I have flown RC aircraft for 20 years and never had to register any aircraft because of our need to have AMA membership to fly. Because of irresponsible drone pilots, we now have to register all our aircraft and have to have remote ID if we fly outside a FRIA. It’s very frustrating! Just because a person has the funds to buy a drone doesn’t mean they can fly them without being knowledgeable of FAA regulations. I love my Air 3s as I am sure you will. Just do so responsibly. I love your enthusiasm. Have fun! Terry
Don’t comply and it’s not frustrating.. Drone rules are for Puccies. I will never register any of my aircraft. I also do occasional drone photography for a realtor friend of mine and I refuse get the 107. I encourage EVERYONE to disregard these stupid rules and simply fly with common sense and safety in mind as you would driving a car, carrying a gun, or anything else.
@@dronetestdaegan Right, he’s doing testing and operating safely. No matter what you do, the fun police will be there waiting to shake their finger. We have gotten soft and bend way too easy to “authority”. The government is not anyone’s daddy and shouldn’t be treated as such.
Jerk twisting to shut off the drone when hand capturing puts unnecessary stress on the props, it’s just not necessary, seems cool but long term causes harmonic prop issues.
People don't seem to know that it is an emergency shut-off and reverse current is applied to force the props to stop. During a normal landing, power is removed and they spin freely - huge difference.

Have fun!

Long range RC has always been a thing even before drones were ever a thing .
Don't take away the fun. This is the USA, we have freedoms, but need more. No one should "tell" you what you can or can't do with a drone.
@@dronetestdaegan Right, he’s doing testing and operating safely. No matter what you do, the fun police will be there waiting to shake their finger.
We have gotten soft and bend way too easy to “authority”. The government is not anyone’s daddy and shouldn’t be treated as such.
Are you near the Garden of Gods?
Jerk twisting to shut off the drone when hand capturing puts unnecessary stress on the props, it’s just not necessary, seems cool but long term causes harmonic prop issues.
People don't seem to know that it is an emergency shut-off and reverse current is applied to force the props to stop.
During a normal landing, power is removed and they spin freely - huge difference.
