Good stuff, Billy! I marvel at your ability to walk and chew gum simultaneously. Or, in this case, ride a OneWheel, fly a drone, and narrate simultaneously.
Great job as always, Billy! Was pretty sad to see it crash right out of the gate but it did well afterwards (for the most part). Hopefully they'll dial it in a lot more as it still seems unreliable. I don't think the beacon will change much though. Whether it's active tracking you or tracking a beacon, the obstacles will remain the same. Mini 5 Pro next?
@@billykyle I meant while you were flying , the road below , had some black patches on .. what were they? Around 1:45 there about ... Just curious. The Air 3 s looks good . But currently I have the Air 3 as my 3 drone now.
Hey man I had a quick question I just picked up the Air 3s, I was doing the active track in the area I live it’s really snowy. The drone smacked a pretty dense branch head on like it didn’t see it but it was full of snow. Do you know if the sensors struggle navigating snowy areas because of the lighting maybe? I’m pretty new to drones so I don’t know a whole lot.
What is you workflow with perfectly syncing the audio with the drone footage? If you have made a video illustrating how to do so please put it in the link or point me in the right direction.
Can you adjust the height? Kinda scary. I just got mine yesterday and charged everything up. Will be flying today. But probably won’t try the tracking just yet. Great video and info! 😃🐾🐈⬛🐝👍
Got mine as well last week. I had a couple of quick test flights and an amazingly fast drone and quality camera. The next test is active tracking like Kyle.
Yes, in settings you can adjust both the inner and outer radius length (how far away the drone will try to follow) and inner and outer heights (how far above the ground the drone will try to be when not avoiding obstacles). It also has a setting for allowing it to fly under 2 meters. Meaning it could fly below human head height to try and avoid lower hanging obstacles.
Billy pretty sure you can go into the settings and adjust max height and lateral distance when using Active Track. Assuming you did not so that before trying it out, that would fix the flying to high problem.....Maybe.
It's a setting, You can set the altitude of the drone while doing active track. Yours was very high but you can make it lower and it will go like the neo.
Billy, I love watching these one-wheel tracking videos. They are always fun to watch. I was wondering since it does fairly well flying slightly above you and has difficulty tracking from a higher altitude, can you lower it behind you in a way similar to what you did with the Skydio a few years ago? All the best, = Robert
2:16 The drone went sideways because the vision sensors don't work properly when exposed to direct sunlight or a powerful light source. Outdoors, this is usually caused by the sun, while indoors, it can be due to strong lights or laser beams, commonly seen during concerts. This issue can also occur during outdoor night events. At 2:25, the reason the drone didn't detect the small branches is that the LiDAR sensor couldn't get a good reflection from the branches due to their complex shape. In conclusion, DJI drones are not yet fully ready for a fully autonomous tracking feature."
Hi Billy. I see some kind of blur phantom image around you and your shadow as you move. Maybe something with the encoder? Maybe added by the compression algorithm of your editing software? Maybe my computer here? I don't know.

That was not as impressive as I was hoping for or expecting. Do you know why it wanted to track you from that altitude initially? Did you have the height set from the get-go? Anyway, glad the tree incident didn't spell it's end and thanks for yet another great video Billy. I really want one of these.
Thanks… I would had charged my OW GT-S before the ride. The last thing I want to do is lug a dead OW back home. I ordered the Air3-S last Sunday… we’ll see if it gets through customs w/o a fuss in CO. Good job articulating the details of active tracking. I don’t know anything about this “beacon” product. Who is developing this accessory?
Amazing how much better the Neo is when just following the path you traveled vs Active Track using vision sensors to constantly dodge an weave. It makes for very uncinematic and unusable footage. When you tell the Neo how high or low to follow it stays there pretty well. The 3S would keep gaining altitude and having to drop down between every tree.
I think it’s so cool that you ride onewheels I’m a very hardcore one wheeler and I want a drone that can follow me and you have helped me decide thank you
Billy, did you actually walk all way back home with your monowheel in the left hand and the drone in the right? okay, that's not how e mobility is supposed to work, lol.
They need to add voice control for tracking... cruse control and so on....heck.... for everything! a glance at the screen and then giving a voice control is better then a look at the screen and push a button.. or swipe the screen and select something! .... 1st.... I could never ride that one wheel.... 2nd forget about even glancing at the screen but for people that can ride that darn thing it would make it so much more fun and safe being able to use voice commands.
Unfortunately, all the hype regarding these new sensors encourages people to try more and more risky maneuvers. With an expensive piece of kit like the AIR 3S, you must still be cautious... Experiment first if not sure!

That 3S looks like overkill in a post-Neo/X1 tracking world...and not even doing a good job for this type of tracking. It would work to track a car in an open environment where the Neo would be useless.
Why it crash into the tree?! It was flying forward and it's having a LiDAR, it should "see" the tree with every single branch perfectly... Otherwise also the video of DC Rainmaker is great with Active Track.
@Taino76 he did the sensors tests before on air 3 and it hit and it was understandable he even said those small branches may not be detected, but lidar yaaaayks 😵😵😵
@@dronetheworld4k67 yeah but them branches might be thin but it's a bunch of the together lol.i understand 1 or 2 skinny twig's but a tree like that it should of detected it
All those sensors and the following logic is total garbage. Just use the NEO team for ALL the DJI products… it’s the only drone from the company doing the job correctly. The strategy is VERY simple. In difficult scenarios just stay low and close to the subject. If the path is clear for it it’s safe for the drone as well… It’s so easy you can’t go wrong, but they do.
Camera quality and image on that unit are true quality for drone of it's price point.

DJI still has a long way to go in order to make it more seamless.
Skydio has a beacon. dji is way behind the game with this. The Skydio follows subjects better than anything out there.
DJI was meant to launch a tracking beacon along side this, but it has been delayed. Also Skydio no longer sell any consumer drones.
