RIP the GOAT Roy Hargrove!
Eargasm, yes lord. Herbie Hancock is from another planet, unreal, unbelievable...
The Best of the Best Herbie Hancock don't forget Waw Waw and the Drummer as my Mom would say Mercy.
Terri Lyne Carrington on point.
Roy's tone. Those first few notes . Amazing ! It was over from the beginning ! Amazing !!
4:07 He concurs.
No mention of Derrick Hodge playing Marcus’ bass when Marcus is playing bass clarinet! ? Put him in the credits!
I have lost count on how many times I have listened to this. Rest in Peace Roy Hargrove. You are an inspiration!
Superb. I think Marcus Miller is just the coolest cat in jazz
World class musician lineup!
Jazz Music really doesn't get any better than this its in a class of its own absolutely Top Drawer!
Real music by real musicians . That's it 👍
Over the course of time I've been lucky enough to have seen some of the individual musicians in this Headhunters band live in their own individual projects
Absolutely epically awesome performance! One of my all time favs! ❤️👍❤️
This tune transports the listener to another place. One of Herbie's most sublime compositions...
Hey Marcus, you forgot to mention that awesome "bass clarinet" in the description ;-) Very nice piece!
Herbert Hancock is easily the greatest and best jazz pianist and Keyboard player that's out there and for those of you that know he's been around a hell of a long time; he's a living legend.
Wrong,................there is no such thing as "Best".........consider McCoy, Bill Evens.....Fats Waller,.....Count Basie...........etc., etc..........they are all unique as the spices in your kitchen,.........F', get a brain,...........all the spices are unique and all are essential..........get some wisdom..........
A great cast on a live version of an awesome track.... and wow!!!! Marcus Miller (the 'Grand national funk champion' as he was once described by Dave Grusin) being so damn audacious on that bass clarinet there. Marcus is one that can seeming play any song on pretty much any instrument.
It's sad the state of the world when this video only has eighteen thousand views...
+MoRobi0515 I know this is acid jazz man can't get any better
So many american legends...in the music!
Yes, and about a thousand of them are me! Can’t get enough of this!
People lose art in their world's sadly
Their too busy studying Britney's ass
Great tune Marcus, great goup brilant, thanks. You great musician. Thanks. Rio de Janeiro. Brasil.
Man I love this performance. Roy is unbelievable!
So many of the comments do not embrace the essence of African American Classical music. WE flow with the spirit of the music.Greatest is spread far and wide across the personalities of our musical galaxies. DIG?
anyone notice Derrick Hodge on bass?
I don't know for sure but the bassist at the beginning does look pretty similar to Hodge
..and playing THAT famous MM Jazz Bass :)
does look like him!
Couldn't hold my legs together for this one!!!!!
just let it go my dude😄😄
Dang! Nice work.
That percussion break with guitar😲😲😲 and of course Mr. Hargrove R.I.P.
Just so darn good!
Genius
Som maravilhoso! Grande Herbie Hancock.
I always thought that playing slow, yet still groovy funk is way more difficult than doing it fast....well the composer of this tune and the "guest-bass-clarinetist" know all about this ;-)
Terry Lynne. Goddess. 🔥❤️
I've tried to toot one of those bass clarinets.. I'll need lots more practice. My hats off to you.
Better, impossible.Incredible!
You forgot Derrick hodge
❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome....
It's a mind masage
T L Carrington 👍👍

I NEED this Butterfly on CD 😊😊😊😉😉🤗
It is so FABULOUS , Lordy, Lordy 🤗🥰🥰🥰🤗
RIP Roy Hargrove
mishuthecat yup
If it gets any better than this, I haven't heard it.
Does anybody care that the program didn't change at 10:39? I don't!
I love seeing little mistakes like that. It’s funny how Herbie juggled with it, played while adjusting and playing the piano and keytar until he had a moment to get it to cooperate!
@@DoobieV Yeah he got whip sawed for a minute back to the piano, it's turned down now back to the Korg it's turned down.. Just leave the volume turned up Tokyo!
Terri so cold
So I'm a bass player. Totally forgot Marcus Miller was the one who did the bass clarinet on this song. I've been getting kind of obsessed and wanted to try bass clarinet because of this song mostly. So now I have a bass clarinet and only now do i realize:
1, low c clarinets exist
And 2, that is obviously not the instrument i now own. .... FML
Other worlds
Marcus Miller Thanksssss Master MM.
+Home Studio EMastering triple m
Hargrove played with him for this song?? Niiiice
It is hard to see how this got any dislikes. I guess some folks need to stay in their lanes.
derrik hodge on bass at first seconds?
SEEN HEADHUNTERS WITH MY LATE FATHER IN DETROIT
Does anyone know how the percussionist made the conga sounds at the beginning? The pwooom sound effect :p I can't seem to find it or how it's called anywhere on the internet..
1:06 ain't he marcus miller?
He posted video and didnt add that.....😎😎😎
Who was the bass clarinetist? Love the textural timbre of the player.
Bassist Marcus Miller
Does anybody know how that descending oooh sound is made? I can't decide if it's one of the guitars or some percussion instrument.
Search Moose call on conga I think that’s that
Ditto
Does Wah Wah have a guitar pick for a tongue??
Massage
Many people don't know, but MM is a better clarinetist than bass player, being classically trained on the bass clarinet.
Let's agree on that he might have had better education on the clarinet... But his skill level on the bass is undoubtedly superiour to his clarinet playing.
+stefanguels I would go that far, he's probably equally as great. He wouldn't have been playing bass clarinet with Miles if he wasn't a beast.
BRING IN THE CUBAN BLOOD
Good for blood circulation
meh i dont really like the bugle horn its cool anwyas though
PARENTS!...PLEASE GIVE YOUR CHILD OR ANY CHILD AN INSTRUMENT!!!!!
My mon tried when i was a child to make me play guitar it wasn't for me ...Here I am 15+ years later giving a try to clarinet pretty sure it's more my cup of tea than guitar....I guess it's never too late for anything !
PS: Guitar is too hard 🤣
the sound sucks. no guitar?
굿
Marcus Miller on Bass Clarinet?!! WOW!!
i can strongly feel the energy and essence of these wonderful black men. i wish i was one of them up there
One of my favorites by Mr. Herbie Hancock....who am I kidding their all my favorites. Mr. Hancock sir thank you for decades of wonderful music. May your sound and concepts live forever. Your music always inspires me sir. Blessings.
What a performance. A brilliant group of musicians. Kudos to Terri Lyne Carrington for keeping it tight.
Truly MIND BLOWNING Artists performing a surreal experience!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Marcus Miller playing Bass clarinet?
Omg, this guy do anything.
Marcus used to play all instruments in his first albums.
Most brilliant! Still going strong! Utmost respect! Thanks for posting.
Great version with Marcus on Bass Clarinet !
Pure genius.
I love when Roy gets the flugel on!
Giovanni , pedrito , yosvani , vizcaino , changuito even Daniel ponce ,,, what are you doing Herbie !?!?!?
Put a conguero on the sale level as Terry Lynn Carrington and yourself !!!
0:16 if you play with Herbie ...make sure he doesn't look over his shoulder to cue you in ;-) I love that concert, it's one of my favs on youtube. This intro to "Butterfly" is Herbie's piano/keyboard style in a nutshell; I cannot talk about the solo... it's out of this world.
Terri Lynne Messrs me up with her texture! This is just bad ass smooth!
This what is meant by the term "cookin"....RIP Roy H
I swear I've seen the guy in yellow before in a Matrix movie
Are you crazy Mr. Hancock ?
I can see the ivory piano on the screen of Herbie's mac. Anyone knows whats the other software? the one it is in front?
+Federico Kalayjian I think Pro 53 from Native Instrument static.kvraudio.com/i/b/pro53.jpg
+Azerlylo Ok, thanks!
FIRE THE CONGA PLAYER
One Moment I'm just discovering Herbie Hancock's 'BUTTEFLY" and the NEXT..... I can't get enough.......
