- I recently opened my Macbook Pro (2015) and the keyboard and trackpad wouldn't work! There was a light behind the keys, but nothing would work except the power button! I could plug it in an external mouse and keyboard and it would still work, but the attached keyboard and trackpad would not. Watch to see an easy fix and get your computer working again in no time!

THANK YOU ! I was about to either throw out my sons Mac book or spend money on a repair . I followed this tutorial and it Now Works ! P.s I used an iPhone repair kit - it included all the right small screwdrivers to get the job done - cost about 10 USD .

Tried this and it didn't work, then tried again spraying the flex cable connections (both the screwed and non-screwed) with contact cleaner and it worked a charm. Thanks for your help!

Thanks it worked for a couple weeks but once you shutdown your computer and try turning it back on. This same issue will happen again and would need to be replaced
Often times that is the case, but it will get it going again until you can get the parts in!
I just recently got a new battery. i thought it was faulty or swollen. Thank you so much!!! I got the dust out of the fan and reset the cable and it worked for me !!!

Hi, mine is a MacBook Pro 2009 and the trackpad and keyboard don't work during boot, the key combinations don't do anything. And when the system starts and opens the login screen, I can't click on the password field, only with a USB mouse, then the keyboard works again. Any suggestions?
I have macbook air m1 , I am facing a similar issue, like trackpad and keyboard stops working and i have to restart my mac and it starts working again. Although it is quite random like sometimes i don't face this issue for whole week and sometimes its like 20 to 30 times a day it has to be restarted to get it work. Should i try this solution ?
I would give it a try and see if it helps, no harm in trying!

Actually the issue was quite big , my flex cable and trackpad was short circuited , so i had to replace that and also there were some issue with logic board , so i had to repair that too. Now it is working fine

I have a 2015 MacBook Air 13’ 7,2 and for years macOS only hasn’t been able to notice my trackpad and keyboard. When running Linux or Windows, it detects my trackpad and keyboard like normal. I brought it to the Apple Store once a few years ago and the guy told me it is a problem with the firmware on the Mac so I told him that this can’t be the firmware on the Mac. So I thought to myself and said if it’s the firmware no matter what I install then it shouldn’t work but it works with Linux and Windows. Any suggestions on this issue. My air started having this problem back in 2019 and have tried replacing the flex cable but still same problem works on Linux and Windows but not macOS.
will this fix my keyboard if thats the only one not working? my trackpad works okay but the keyboard doesn’t!!! Power button works too.

hey! I am having problems with my power button on my MacBook Pro, it does not turn on the computer, do you think your advice would help to disconnect the flex and reconnect it 30 seconds later?
Thanks for reaching out! The power button is actually separate from the keyboard so doing the flex cable probably wouldn’t make much difference. The reason I think this is because when my keyboard wasn’t working at all, I was still able to use the power button. I hope this helps!

@Ogles Hey! I just tried to remove the flex for a few seconds and then reconnect it. I still have the problem with the power button, it doesn't do anything (the flex didn't look in bad shape, either).
Do you know if I could try unplugging the flex and then turning it on to see if that is really the problem?
After a few days the same problem has occurred. It's not feasible to keep taking it apart. Do you know the root of the cause ?
You have the screen coating blight and you can remove that, as I did using my fingers, with vigorous rubbing of a thick baking soda and water paste.

OMG It worked so fine, removed the coating blight perfectly. Thank you so much ! But how did you get the idea to try it ? Anyway, still need to operate the fix from the video because this brand new screen is useless at the moment.

My keyboard number key one to zero , total ten keys not working, sudddenly work when press harder but likely lagging.
I change the cable but it only fixed my touchpad it's a plus but does anyone has a tip for the keyboard?

I accidentally poured coffee on my laptop, I switched it off using the track pad but when I switched it on the track pad stopped working

It should have a very similar mechanism so I would imagine so, but I have personally not tried it.
