- why settle at a truck load when you can fill a whole ambulance! Today I was asked to visit someone who was disposing of a 50 year collection of watch parts, I do not know what I will find... if anything! will it pay off??? let's hope so as I go through the collection and look for hidden gems saved from the trash!
follow us on instagram @ curiosityincyeg and see when we fix and post these for sale
or on facebook under curiosity incorporated
thanks for watching!
My dad is a watchmaker and he said he would’ve paid at least $5k for what you didn’t keep...
It was someone life work, so much value in those parts
Yeah, you never know what you're going to find. I recently bought a $200 storage unit. Inside was a 1973 Rolex Submariner Red in the original box. Still have to get it appraised.😊
Chris Lamrock i can apraise that for you. If the face and hand are original its up to 3k, if they have been replaced its 1500€
@@jackjones1915 3k if original? Lol more like 20k
@@jackjones1915 lol seems like you'd be really interested ;)
Preston Turner BUY IT THEN. Pay $10k. You won’t
A man can only dream. Post a video!
You could’ve done a 90 min. vid just of you going through watches... I’d have watched.⌚️
U 812 I could too! The watches were amazing!
With the watches ticking as background music and a smile on my face I'd have watched also.😎😎😎
me too!
Watch watches!? ;-)
Yep!
How in the heck did you acquire such a wide range of knowledge!! I would love to sit your kiddos down and get through to them that their Dad is a gold mine.
Perfectly said.
Well he's been studying since he was his younger kids' age.... You study your passions long enough, and we can all be gold mines in those areas!
@@kblewis3331,In general..he's an all around great guy in many ways,I wish my daughter was married to someone like him,I have found that who you marry makes or breaks your life.
@@moladhdodhia1580 That's so true! I have been following Curiosity Inc since around January. And have since probably watched almost all his videos, or certainly ost of them. And Josh's too.... In fact I've purchased items from them both.
Hours upon hours looking at eBay listings. Anyone can do that with enough time. Probably also live auctions.
My Grandfather was a clock and watch maker which also collected harmonica's.. His shop fascinated me. I can still remember the smell of metallic and watch oil. Looking at all your collection gave me a nice memory.. Thanks! 🤗
Flashbacks to my years as a watchmaker's apprentice! Beautiful finds and, at the end, my dream watch... the Cartier tank.
8:15 That Hohner Harmonetta is kind of rare. The keyboard has specially designed keys that allow for chording with one finger.
The Echo to
@@DementiusPreacox I have one beside my bed that I got from my grandfather. I love just watching it
Loved watching this video as my father was a watchmaker. Brought back a lot of memories helping him in his shop.
Thanks for the memories.
if you can't get the tall clock to work then maybe you could add some shelves in it and it would make a nice display case for the new store
james smith yes, for watches 😂
I was thinking the same thing!
In the latest episode it's on the wall of the new store as a display unit for watches.
@@Sparrowdean lol thanks i'm watching it now
Only Alex can come home with a Tuba, a flying jacket and an airplane propeller.... how random is that .
Love watching you go through the huge amount of watches, hope you get lucky.
That Bulova digital is the stuff of dreams for me...I hope that you held on to that one....
I have serviced several but have never had the ability to own one myself...
You have a really impressive knowledge about so many things. If I ever play "Who wants to be a Millionaire, can I list you as a phone-a-friend? 😁😉
This reminded me of my departed husband. He loved watches. He liked to tinker a bit with them and he would say," there are jewelers and fool-ers " ( so much fun! )
Designer Window Fashions how sweet 🥰
I'm a fooleler
1:48 - Good you got the Joshua painting of Mary back! I spy Mary in your garage! This adventure was a real SCORE!
Good eye!
"As soon as it's empty you come home with a different car." I love Melissa.
That was such a great find. My Grandfather was a watch repairman. He used to trade sometimes. We found real diamond and ruby rings he had collected as payment. Might want to double-check the jewelry.
You have turned all of us watch repairers/collectors on our heads with this find!
👍🏼
I would love too see a video with your watch maker friend 🤗
Yes please
Time well spent. 😉 What a haul you got there, Alex!
Tee hee hee
nice pun
If I ever came across a real PATEK PHILIPPE I think I'd be a bit more excited , it could be a life changing find
I wouldn't go as far as calling it life changing, unless it's a really rare and sought after Patek. Too bad this one's definitely a replica, he probably knew that too, that's why he wasn't too excited.
All that ticking would drive me crazy! Great finds!
I love that sound! :)
I'm okay with ticking as long as they don't lead to a BOOM sound.
great video ! "As soon as it's empty...you come home with another car."...and she smiles ! You are a lucky man.
I really enjoy your videos. I rescue things and resell them occasionally....but it would be fun to have a full time job doing it.
All those watches each carry such a unique history/story that is love to hear. Amazing find. Thanks for sharing!
LOL, you said..."The things WE do"...you are funny...I think it's the things YOU do! ;-) But, it looks like you got beautiful items! And, LOL too to Melissa saying..."empty garage, not for long" she really loves you a lot! ;-) OMG to all the little pieces!
Dude that paid 1500 for the parts got the jackpot!
Brings a new meaning to Watch this space! XXX
All the gold pocket watches....😳 I’d LOVE to go through this last haul! Way to go Alex! 👍🏼
how do you know its gold »»
there s was a lot of fakes in thsoe older days,
THANK YOU MY FRIEND! I have been sitting on a collection of antique pocketwatches and wristwatches for YEARS! I just have no idea what to do with them! Elgin, Lady Elgin, Waltham, Illinios, Hamilton, Bulova etc majority of them dating back to the early 1800's. I have cases, crystals, parts, movements, beezels etc. I would LOVE to sell the collection as a whole to someone who is young and motivated to restore them, not someone looking for arts and craft accessories! I live in Salt Lake City. If you or anyone who may read this can be of any help I would love to hear from you! I LOVE Curiosity Inc and this You Tube channel! I am also so happy to be the proud new owner of some beautiful pottery crafted by Mary(inspiration) and can't wait to visit your store this fall! Thanks Alex!
I'd be interested in buying some for my own personal collection
For those of us who know.😎😎😎 You are a very humble person Alex. But seriously OMG, epic score my friend. All is good😎😎😎
I just woke up and what do I find? You Alex and the ambulance full of stuff! Yay!!
Oh my. Its overwhelming just looking at all those watch parts. Have fun
Nice purchase, hope you make a lot of money in resale.
What a huge collection, some very cool finds, thanks for sharing.
Pausing at 17.44, the Seiko cases & bracelets are also worth a bit. Sharp looking Pogue case & nice looking H link bracelet (bracelet alone is $100-$150) looks like the other case and bracelet might be a 6138 panda one and underneath looks like another Pogue case with the inner (yellow) rotating bezel. If the yellow bezel is good they’re almost impossible to find & prob get near $100 for that alone. UFO case and bezel with a kakume dial inside it. Crystal looks genuine and even they’re expensive. Nice.
You can tell that the Patek is a fake by looking at the "moonphase" indicator which is on this watch in fact just day/night indicator, something you won't see on a PP perpetual calendar, and also that big Bretiling in the end of the video is a fake "Breitling for Bentley", their top-end version with tourbillon and that costs like 500k and is super super rare, but this one has just open heart and wrong subdials, original is a chronograph, this one has a day and a second time-zone I believe... But nonetheless, a lot of cool watches there, mostly the vintage Omegas, Tudor and Rolex but also some others
Well you can also just look at the movement of the patek
@@freen773 Yup, cheapass sticker on the back and no embellishing at all on the movement, it's a very crude fake. Still, he probably has a lot of money in spare parts there, just needs to find a watchmaker who wants to take them as a lot because sorting through all that and selling it piece by piece is going to be a ton of work.
It's a Replica.
Fairly sure he bought these fakes to spice up the video. The manual Patek already ticking after being removed from an estate collection seemed fishy.
@@thegreenfish21 this "patek" is not manual. It's automatic and it probably just wound itself while he carried boxes etc.
Superb find for 2000 dollars, only the Rolex, even in pane,it makes 3000 dollars ! You're going to collect a lot of dollars ! Great Video ! 😎😎👍
what a great value of watches. I'd spent days going through it.
KEEP THE DRAWERS for fun odds and ends, either for grown folks or young folks. All that custom work is priceless.
The "plastic" Harmonicas are professional Hohners.. can be as much as $150 USD each.. USED
I’m impressed with your watch knowledge... I guess when you buy abs sell old stuff for a living you pick up this stuff... but when you can look at a bunch of parts in a bin and just know what it is... that’s impressive!
Oh how I love watches, I collect them as well. This episode was a real treat for me to watch.
Well done Alex, good to see things on the up! Just keep ticking away......
Watch out for valuables! Very interesting and to see all the parts!
A watch maker / repairer paradise. Would like to know the reaction of your friend who repairs watches and clocks.
Wow, you hit the mother load. I just had two watches repaired. My father gold watch he received as a 21st Birthday gift from his grandmother. German made 17 jewels automatic watch mid-century I got from my Uncles estate. Loved this vlog. Take Care.
@9:47 I can see three Radium painted dials (at least). Wash hands after handling all that stuff as the radium off-gasses Radon over time which tends to contaminate containers with secondary daughters which are also radioactive. Hand washing is important with old watch parts, to be sure. Also at 10:09. You may want to pick up a cheap used Radalert 50 geiger counter on ebay. I have to head off to work but will try to finish watching later. :)
insane find! spend a day listing those on ebay, quick buy and flip! well done
My grandpa used to collect and fix watches. I love watching you go thru the boxes.
Looks like quite a few real gold cases. Some of the watches will look fabulous when fixed up and cleaned. Wish you would use your camera stand more though. The jumping about can be a bit hard on the orbs!
What a time I had watching.
Amazing finds, enjoyed your video. You are so knowledgeable about so many things. Your just a wealth of information.
Brilliant my friend! There is still romance in the mechanical watch. You will never see me with an iWatch. Thank you for sharing!
So glad you're saving these treasures from ending up in a landfill; you're the man!
Everyone goes out and buys a tuba. Because well...you know...why not? That’s why we all love you Alex. LOL.
Just like the Potter House. Why buy a few antiques in a hoarded house when you can just buy the whole house. Pretty sure you said the same thing then...well, you know, why not?
Your find was absolutely incredible! Good for you Alex. You have a great eye for value.
ohh yes all garbage.. for 2.000
he will take 30 year to ear some profits...
even the cartier,, if original is womna watch,, low price, and to sell very difficult... if you wnat tos ell you ahve to make it cheap.
What a great haul, Alex. I bet Jason would enjoy playing on a harmonica too. If he does, please record it!
Amazing! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Wow! You made your money back and then some by a large margin on that box of harmonicas/harmonetta alone! Fantastic luck on your day's haul! That harmonetta, in that excellent condition(on the exterior at least) will probably go for $500 US alone.
He probably made his money back just on the Rolex case openers
@@rustknuckleirongut8107 Pretty sure he said he's keeping those openers for his own purposes.
@@rachelh5211 How does that change their value?
@@rustknuckleirongut8107 You're right...it doesn't. I just meant it doesn't sound like he will actually be selling them. Wasn't trying to contradict you.
Hey you might want to keep an eye open for small watchmakers vises a good clean one can fetch a couple hundred dollars.
Instantly re-posted this to a FB group for older time pieces ... ur welcome
Thank you so much ❤️
Sure thing, toots!
To bad the Patek is a replica. Would have loved to seen you pull a $100k watch from a $2000 estate haul.
Give the lot appears to be from an old jeweler the odds are the "high brand" watches are probably all fakes that someone brought to the jeweler for some sort of work and then found that it was fake and didn't want to spend more money on the fake than it was worth.
Many Replicas Amongst This Retirement Clearout.
This was an AWESOME interesting find, who knows how much money your friend is going to make on the haul that he gotten from you, I seen some very old lady watches there. So elegant. Thanks for sharing the details.
Bye for now Alex ☺️🖐️👊 👍💯 💯💜.
HIDE THEM FAST!!!!!! ... before Josh finds out and wants to be creative with his stunning art, LOL. So love your videos Alex, what a COOL buy, now to fix and match, new video in a journey with watches. Melissa, you are awesome, patience is a virtue, WOW.
That was a self-winding electric clock with a Mercury filled pendulum. I believe that had three glass vials on the pendulum that were filled with liquid mercury
Timely pick all will come in handy 😁 TFS 🤗🤩 😎
Wow how amazing was that watch collection! Would love to spend a good few hours looking at all the bits and bobs. Tyfs xx
Score! you hit the jackpot again Alex.
amazing find. i am a watch lover and was just drooling at your finds
Haha, poor Melissa, but i guess she knows that you can't come home empty, but i still don't know how everything is going to fit in that new small store ...especially, when you keep buying more haha.. She types as she has so much craft stuff stashed around her house...
Watches I only was interested in pocket variety ........until Alex started going thru the boxes .....oh my lmao 😂 I’d have watched forever . Great info & video
I like the little drawers that have the jewellery and tiny things in it
Oh man, I was feeling overwhelmed and anxious just watching you (pardon the pun) going through all the watch parts.
Not bad finding about $2000 worth of Rolex case openers.
The watch lover/collector in me is going crazy right now !!!!!
WOW & love your knowledge ! You hit the jackpot ! Your mom would say you did well Honey !💕 this tells me what you sow you will reap ! You have been sowing much kindness & blessings ,that's why you get fantastic deals !! Be blessed Alex & family .🇨🇦🇨🇦
I am sure that the owner knew what every part was for and where every part he needed was...nice score
Best score are when people doesn’t have a clue what they are selling ! And they are many unaware of treasures they r sitting on ... which means Alex , u will never have to experience the precarity of having an insecure income in this business u love👏🏽👏🏽
Alex , u r not only mister nice guy ! u r hawk-eyed when it comes to spot pieces* and very knowledgeable too. A passionate business man who put the work and neither worry to get his hands dirty. Bravo👏🏽
The estate really had no idea what they had or what it might be worth. The moral of the story: if you have some sort of esoteric hobby, and you are getting on in years, you should try to provide some sort of information for the benefit of your heirs - otherwise, they might throw out or give away thousands of dollars worth of stuff.
When I worked at the bank, one of the guys I worked with had a brother-in-law who was a garbageman. Naturally, they were always getting good stuff, but one day a jeweller on his route died, and the heirs threw out dozens of bags and boxes. They garbagemen in that truck found gold bars in the pile of trash!
I bet they felt like they made out in the deal. I couldn't imagine the time and effort to try and list all that stuff myself, especially since I have no knowledge of it all. I bet they were overwhelmed. As Alex said, they had already thrown out a whole box of stuff that had quite a high value. He was the right buyer.
Wow! A watch collector’s dream come true.
Hey Alex you should see what Josh can do with the cheap parts of those watches. It would be interesting to see what he would make. Nice haul.
Wow! I love digging through unknown boxes like that. I should learn how to fix watches. I love that little stuff.
Can you say “Jackpot” Alex, you did very well 💰
This would be great for a “Steampunk” Artist. All the miscellaneous leftover parts would also be a great Treasure for multimedia artists. I look for broken watches all the time, just to take apart. Good luck.
I'm pretty sure that tuba was actually a euphonium. Looked too small to be a tuba, but that is just based on what i was able to see in the vid.
I think you’re right
Started to watch and couldn't finish. Just had my collection of over 300+ American pocketwatches I'd cleaned and repaired to running condition stolen by burglars while on vacation. To add insult to injury, they took a lot of my watch tools and crystals to boot. Most of which was new-old stock.
After replaying the video a few times, that's a minimum of around $22K US in watches, parts. Some of those parts are worth more that the original watches.
I like the random tuba, because why not? I suspect most of the harmonicas and associated instruments are probably brand new, certainly in the UK it was far from unusual to see those being sold alongside watches in jewellers, though I have no idea quite why...
WOW!!!!!
SO DAMN COOL!!!!!!!
My Uncle John owned a jewelry store in town for 30 years(which I spent a ton of time in as a kid) and Bulova was his top of the line watch. All the bulova stuff you found was from when it was still a family owned U.S. company...PREMIUM!!!!!
In its day Bulova could hold it's own with Omega & Rolex.
You scored big with the harmonicas too...all were top shelf name brands.
Wish you had shown a better shot of the tuba...Tubas & watches are my thing 😁
Thanks so much for sharing 👍
Some lovely time-pieces in there. Lovely harmonicas too. Nice catch.
Fun...always interesting finds.
It looks like a good haul. ❤️❤️❤️
SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yeah buddy! You could be there going through all of this for a month and I bet you would barely scratch the surface of half of it. Awesome find!!!!! Good on you Alex! Glad to see good things happening to those who deserve good fortune!!!!! Yeeeehaaaa!!!!!!! ▪☆☆☆▪
I used to have a sheet of stickers for the Darth Vader watches! I think about 12 from the factory
What Time is it??? 😂😂😂lol!
Great finds!
Oooh, you'll need that oyster case opener to work on my daughter's Tudor watch 😉 I don't know how that would be shipping the watch back and forth from Colorado Springs to you there in Edmonton, though...?
I manage a watch repair workshop (in Toronto) and we have SO MUCH “scrap”. We hold onto things for years thinking we might use it- but once it’s randomly in a box- it’s more or less useless. Every couple years we toss stuff and then quickly accumulate it again. Never ending cycle!
I love going through little stuff like that.
I love this channel, especially the corny jokes! ("Come see what I have on hand ... literally!"😀)
Some of those old harmonicas could be very valuable. Especially that Harmonetta. A very nice haul!
