I love seeing episodes with grown up Stephen. He was just a tween when I first started watching Curiosity Inc. Its been a joy watching the kids growing up into the wonderful people they are today 😊.
I just discovered your channel and am now addicted. It’s also telling me that at 71 hubby and myself need to start clearing out some of our stuff. Having emptied the homes of two dear relatives, I don’t want make my children do it.
There’s a sign next to my bed…”if I should die before I wake I pray my sister comes and cleans up this mess”. She, too, has done this a few times….it’s our little joke. Although she has promised many times to visit and give me a hand with the old tried and true method of “when was the last time you wore this?”. Did this in August and found in January I had no sweaters.
Absolutely one thing that I've learned from all of your videos it is the fact that it is possible to live survive and even thrive in the absolute coldest temperatures that I could ever possibly imagine.
I think the owner of this unit liked to play hard and have fun. Typical toy closet for the area if you have a bit of money. Must have been in good shape. I always enjoy seeing the different things that you do. Nice to see Stephen too.
Great video- love storage units. I can not believe you guys can even go out into - ANYTHING Celsius let alone -30c!!!! I went up Mt Wellington (by car) in Tasmania (I live in South Australia- was on holidays) in mid summer and it was 7C & raining, we got out the car & tiny flakes of snow started falling! I'm 58- never seen snow falling in my entire life. We were so cold, we did a quick walk about and ran back to the car. BRRRRRRR! 🦘🐨
Alexander, I believe the small bar you've found came out of an old floor model stereo with high shine wooden cabinet. It appears identical to the bar insert that was behind two cabinet doors on a unit I acquired many years ago. It was on a drawer type mechanism that you could slide out of the cabinet, and it would rotate, to position the liquor holder out in front, or the LP slot holder that's on the opposite side. Circa early 1970's. I no longer have this, and sadly, can't recall the brand name. As always, many thanks for sharing your cool finds. Cheers!
I knew you'd be good with these storage units, because you are SO knowledgeable about a host of stuff! Sure hope you make some good money with this one. And it's delightful to see Steve helping you.
I helped a former bf get a little used Chinese scooter back around 07-08. It was nice until we learned that no one in san diego would work on them, and that they needed a lot more frequent maintenance than expected. Idk if more places work on them now, but I guess they were a very different animal than the brand name scooters of the past. Getting replacement parts may have been a problem too. Cheap plastic. Will be interested to see how that goes. I had a vespa ciao, and then an 85 honda spree when I was saving up for a car. The vespa had pedals, and rust in the fuel tank so I was constantly having to clean out the carburetor. The Spree would collect carbon in the exhaust pipe, & the motorcycle shop guy had to keep heating it up with a blowtorch & cleaning it out. Still grateful for them puttering me around for a little while when I was young.
Alex, the bike is only a trekking bike not full suspension mountain bike. Still they cost couple of thousand new. Hope you will find the missing parts for it.
its a joy to look at abandoned warehouses in freezing temperatures hehe. Greetings from western Norway, give it your all... hehe..... you are good at that ;-)
Enjoying this content. I used to work at a mini storage. I cleaned units out and took pics/prepped for old fashioned, in person auctions. There was hardly ever anything of great value in the units.... just a lot of trips to the dump. I 'm sure Alex has seen the units that these places attempt to auction that are nothing but junk also. Alex seems to know how to pick them
The Bike Looks more Like a GHOST Hybride Square womans Trekking Bike B3 Bosch and ITS about 1500,- Euro (approx. 2150,- Can. Dollar) new over Here in Germany. Its probably Worth the money You paid for the unit, when its complete and not stolen.
I've followed your videos for a bit now, I like your style !! You seem like an average Canadian, working to provide, and having some fun !! As for the temperature, I'm in Winnipeg, and I work outside in these temps ! Was -32C, with windchill at -40 this AM. Not fun, but we do it !! peace and cookies !!
Funny how so many people think this stuff was stolen. Alberta is a boomtown place - wages are high and housing costs are comparatively low. Albertans typically have a LOT of stuff, and it sells cheap at second hand too, at least compared to the west coast, where people’s budgets are much tighter thanks to crazy housing costs… I bought so many great things for very little money in my years in Alberta, from tools to motorcycles to cars and motorcycles. The selection might be a bit narrow, but the supply is always good.
It brings me joy to watch you do "your thing" with the storage units...there are some "treasures" there for sure.......it always amazes me the conjecture some of the comenters come up with....goodness me!!...as always...Best from BC
Grab and Go Units: best thing for those Grab and Go units, when you want to load and sort at home is a single axle trailer. When the schedule is tight, or the weather is bad or when the unit is already packed in boxes and totes is a 10’ single axle trailer, an enclosed trailer can really speed up the job and doesn’t ruin the trucks Mile per Gallon number. That unit could have been done in 1 trip and it’s easier to put items like the scooter in a low deck trailer. You also don’t risk moving the stock in an open truck, which can ruin the value.
Nice content! Stephen is so helpful! That bitter cold did you no favors, Alex. Hot tea with honey and lemon, warm blankets and a quiet little nap. You were looking a bit wiped out near the end of the video...
I'm cold just watching you two out in that below 0 weather. Our yards look the same but we are having a heat wave at 20°. Good luck on the unit. Pretty cool stuff. It will be fun seeing two wheelers get fixed for a change of pace.
If you have a bike shop nearby that sells e-bikes, they can read out the data from the motor, so you know how long and for how many miles it was used and if it needs a maintenance check up before you use it yourself or sell it.
That Ghost bike should take a generic rear wheel, as long as it the right rim size, and has the right disc rotor and cassette. Since the battery is not integrated into the frame, as far as I can tell, a different battery and mount could be fitted. Getting one to fit the original mount could be expensive. I don't think it is a 7k bike, maybe 3k or more though. Get in touch with Grin Technologies in Vancouver, they should be able to help. The scooter looks pretty beat!
You look more like Stephen's brother, not his father, I bet you get that alot. Do love your videos, wish I was there digging in helping too. God Bless you and your family. 😺

Well it looks like you got your money back and some, I'm sure just parts alone on the E bike and the shoes will bring profit, but most importantly thanks for the honest look at storage unit buying in Canada and the wonderful weather that you had in Edmonton this week.
I'm awake during the night because it's 30C here in Adelaide, South Australia. Was thrilled to see a video posted. I can't get my head around-30 degrees. It's going to be 40C here today.
He used to avoid storage units all together after he did one quite some time ago. He felt bad profiting from others hard times and misfortunes. Kind of an icky moral slippery slope, but surely Alex feels differantly now.
@Curiosity Incorporated 13:32 it look like a foot pedal to a tattoo machine. I had one made out of horseshoes and it had the same hookups on it. They are not cheap especially if you find a cool vintage one that looks like that. 😉
I just found your RUclips channel and I wish I could help you. LOL All that cool stuff. My husband and I traveled through Alberta yrs ago. So pretty! I wish I could remember the camp ground we stayed at. My husband was eleated because the lady had a Beaver work (railroad) car that he bought. It had sat there so long a tree grew threw it. Loaded it up and took it back to Ohio.
That is a mid drive ebike so any wheel will work on it that is the correct size. That is not a $7k version of their bikes. its more like $1600 or so if you look at their website. You were looking at their top model. The battery is a large percentage of the cost of an ebike. At least 1/3 of the cost.
I always wonder the story behind these storage units. My bet on this one: college couple , broke up at the end of college, she kept paying for awhile telling him to get his stuff out and he never responds. So she stops paying and you win!
That bar set thing looks like the rotisserie insert from a fire place stereo. My mom had 1. It had a bar on the upper left, turntable/8 trak/AM FM radio on upper right. And a fake fireplace in the bottom. Fireplace front sides were speakers covered in the same velvet as the bar rotisserie.

Usually when you're missing a back wheel, they're stolen bikes. They remove the rear wheel and leave it with the lock. They scrape off the serial numbers too. They sometimes take the front wheel when they can't get the whole bike. On a stolen bikes the battery was probably with the owner. I think you got a thief's stash this time. Check the serial number on the gio. It may be registered to someone !
That bmx frame at 6:00 is I'm pretty sure a 1998 S&M Warpig. I'd say it's worth about $150-200 US I would definitely buy it from you if I lived in Canada.

The bikes are a good find. He was probably trying to sell the bikes before he left hence why they were dismantled as they go for a lot more like that secondhand, it also explains the missing battery. Its a mid drive bike so a standard bike wheel should be ok, especially if it is a steel rim.
I see that E-Teru model listed at $5000 Canadian, with the proper charger and battery. The Bosch battery is between $1200 and 1500 the charger is around $250, the Bosch motor is about 3x the price of a Bafeng or about double a Tonsheng midrive!
Congrats on a profitable storage unit. There's always a risk to loosing money on those, but, unless you're not sharing the bad units, you've been able to gain money each time.
Wonderful content as always, Alex. That fake Canon lens/coffee mug is the reason that more than a few photogs' vehicles have been broken into! They think it's a real lens, it's that convincing :-)
Thank you Alexander, always great content.
