Right in the middle of making Xmas cookies the kitchen sink croaked. NO WATER except sprayer! Your video was an answer to my prayer. So simple & explicate, I am in your debt & you are in my prayers. I thank you for your help. Merry Christmas-Kathy
The video was very helpful. The only question was with the notched rubber gasket. The manufacturer instructions state that the gasket should be placed on the bottom lip of the diverter, not on the top after installation. During replacement, the original part had the gasket on the bottom lip of the diverter. I don't know that it would make a difference, but just an observation. Thanks for the great video on replacement.
Thank you! All the other videos were for leaky faucets. It was frustrating to not find one for two-handled diverter repair/replacement. You have a great way of telling and showing how to do things.
Awesome explanation/demonstration for a first time video. Thoroughly explained and demonstrated our dilemma. Delta has been contacted and replacement part enroute. Thanks a bunch! 👌
Thankyou! Perfect tutorial! It was so easy to follow, understand, and very helpful! Showing, speaking, while "doing" (said project) is the key to a great tutorial! Everything was spot on! I'll for sure keep watching/looking for helpful videos from you! P.s, the penny trick blew my mind!🤗 Never woulda thought, and have never seen that done before! Awesome! 👍
Thank you so much. This was exactly what I needed. I ended up calling Delta for the part because I couldn't get it locally and they sent it out for free. I also used your penny trick, which worked perfectly. Many thanks for taking the time to do this.
Thank you for this video!!! Just had a plumber out the other day....told us we needed a new faucet & needed to replace the pipes.....I didnt know Delta had a lifetime warranty....They are sending the diverter...You just saved us at least $300 between new faucet & install....
We don't have a delta faucet, but this video showed us how to fix ours anyway. We didn't get any new parts just cleaned. Thanks so much... Saved us $$$
That shows exactly how I did mine except for when you trigger the sprayer your faucet is supposed to shut off. That's why it's called a diverter. you have water coming out of the faucet in the sprayer at the same time and that is exactly what happens when the diverter is broken and that is what mine was was doing prior to replacement. Directions show the gasket on the bottom of the diverter.
Thank you for posting this video! The issue with my kitchen sink was when I tried to use the sprayer no water would come out then when trying to use the hot or cold from the faucet it would make a loud rattling sound for a few seconds before the water would come out. I knew it had to be something loose or worn out after 20 years but couldn't figure out what. I called a plumber and he suggested it was my main pressure valve for the entire house that was faulty and it would cost hundreds of dollars to fix. So I looked to trusty youtube for some answers and found your video. What I ended up doing was just replacing the rubber washers on the diverter because the local hardware store didn't have that type of diverter which cost about 30 cents and it works great now! Thanks again!
After seeing your video I didn't have any hesitancy. I sprang for a quarter since mine was not recessed. Mine was not a Delta and had two slots on the side of the diverter. I push the little plastic in. It seemed to open it up and I didn't spend the 15 bucks either. Thanks for your help.
You saved my bacon. I couldn't figure out how to remove the diverter to replace it. Fixed it in about 5 minutes after watching your video. I definitely owe you a beer or two.
Thanks! We have a one handled Delta faucet with the same problem. I called Delta yesterday evening and the part is being delivered tomorrow. Your video is a huge help!
What do you suggest If a penny or a dime do not fit in to loosen it? Your tutorial was working great up until that point. I wasn't able to get it out but I tapped on it a few times and put it back together and it unstuck itself for now.
Jerry Bridgers -- Then how does a person fix it so that when the sprayer is being used no water comes out of the faucet spout? I am fixing to tear into my Delta 2-Handle Faucet on my kitchen sink because the sprayer quit working, and also the water pressure coming out of the spout is not as strong as it used to be. My faucet is circa 1980's, but I am pretty sure the diverter is probably the same one that sak116's faucet uses.
I achieved the same results by simply pulling out the bad diverter. Now about 2/3 of water is diverted to sprayer while 1/3 still comes out of the faucet. I was going to get a new diverter to achieve 100% diversion to the sprayer, but after seeing this video I might just save the 15 bucks and leave it as is. We don't use the sprayer that often.
@@larryatpl If you put the rubber seal in before the diverter it will totally cut the water off when using the sprayer. That's the way it's supposed to work. Also why he had water coming out of bot faucet and the water hose. If you look that's how it came out. Good thing delta changed to a one piece diverter. Even with this mistake the rest of the video was great for me. Just using a needle nose and penny put me over the edge to do it right.
Thank you! I've been without my sprayer for quite some time. I finally Googled enough to figure out the issue. The part came today (after Home Depot not having it in store Sunday night, and I ordered it from them), and another Google search led me to your video. Such a fast fix. Thank you again! Do you know how to fix my awful water pressure in my fridge's in-door water and ice dispenser?
Thank you commenters for correction about putting the seal in first. My landlady send the most worthless workmen to install things. You Tube saves the day again.
How about doing a Moen two handle faucet with side spray. Faucet has two 1224 cartridges and a #100255 diverter. Would love to see a video to remove and install.
I’m having a similar problem. Water does come out very little. When I take the spout out, I can’t remove the plastic piece. Seem to be stuck or maybe remixed from the bottom?
The new diverter should prevent water from coming out of the tap when the sprayer is used, but yours still has water coming out both. You may have a faulty diverter or it could be because you put the o-ring in last instead of first.
Good info but why do you have to turn the water off to the faucet? Also, I thought when you activate the sprayer the water should quit coming out of the faucet.
Perfect video EXCEPT gasket placement. If you install the gasket on the BOTTOM of the diverter instead of top, all flow from faucet will stop when sprayer activated. Took me three goes to come back and read all the comments. It's embedded in here in a few places but I sure didn't notice it at first.
My side sprayer was a pain, so I removed it and replaced it with a soap dispenser. Is it possible to leave the diverted out? It’s killing my water flow. Thanks!
I bought a new Pfister faucet and the water makes a thump or thump thump when I turn it on, both hot and cold and the old faucet didn't do this. The sprayer hose also shakes at the same time.
What was the solution to this issue? I am having issue with Pfister as well and I just noticed my diverter is cracked. We don’t use the sprayer and we are having thumping and faucet is dripping. With Cartridges were replaced already.
When I try to remove the base/neck (whatever you call it) by turning left, it won't budget. I don't want to try plyers, as it would damage metal. Any suggestions?
Delta and other faucet manufactures have a lifetime replacement warranty on the faucets and the parts. Save your money and call the makers of your faucets. The hoses, diverters, faucets, sprayers, parts are all under warranty. I always call them when I need a replacement and they have sent items free.
hopefully by now you got that spout cap unscrewed, but it shouldn't be super tight. wrap a small hand towel/rag around the cap and use channel lock pliers to loosen it. you may need a little stronger than normal grip because of the rag slipping on the cap. the actual spout just pops in and out. rock it gently back and forth as you pull up. the cap you actually unscrew just holds the spout down to keep it from popping out from water pressure. when you put the spout back in there is an O ring at the bottom of it and possibly 2 of them. make sure to wipe them clean and it's best to put some kind of lubricant on them that isn't damaging to rubber o-rings and gaskets.
Just a heads up: Watching this video made replacing the diverter look super easy, however, when my diverter didn't just pop right out, I discovered it was screwed in. My Delta faucet looks *identical* to the one in this video, but apparently they've used more than one diverter with it, and you may have to unscrew it.
