  • A bit of (rough) in cab footage from the Pacific National days - Likely 2010 (Some fool didnt date the DV tape!) - from on the Boyer line just out of Bridgewater Junction to Rhyndaston.

Classic footage, most enjoyable Ted, I presume 2138 is one of the Morris Knudsen conversion locomotives with that flat faced front? Impressive quad lash up, very few occasions where the train gets up to any decent speed (80KMh) due to curves and bends. Enjoyed that countryside too Ted, Tassie at its best! Thanks for posting.👌

Cheers Dave. And yeah, 2138 was one of the MKA's they had running on Tassie tracks. The two middle units (known as D's in Tas) are now in WA.
In Tas, trains are doing well to get to 60km'h! Tho there are a couple of short patches of 70.

We went to Tasmania this year for our annual Rusty Rails trip, the first time we have crossed the Tasman for it.
Nice to see the drivers view and compare it with what we saw. Some of the curves are tight, the one that crosses Coalmine Bend Rd is a beaut and there is another south of Colebrook.
The first scenes along the river I recognized instantly as running along the Derwent River, conformed with the left curve into Bridgewater. I was hoping to see the train go through Tea Tree.
I have 3 videos on my channel of the paper train heading north.
    Hi from NZ,
    Anthony

Hi Anthony. Hope to get to NZ sometime soonish. At some stage in the future I will have some forward facing 'drivers view' videos.

I reckon there are a LOT of people that would pay good money for a daily tourist train journey if it were made available to travel between Hobart-Launceston-Burnie, the main line goes straight past Launceston airport too.

2138 with 2021, 2020 and a Dq (2010?). A couple of the Dq's today (as of 2023) have the same horn as the MKA class. Pretty sure they are 2006 and 2012.

Probably about 2010 as I was driving the SCT relay freight trains out of Adelaide to Perth and Dimboola in 2008 !

It’s either taken on the 28/11/2010 or 29/11/2009 from the paperwork I can see and matching the dates accordingly with a Sunday for train 132. The only thing that’s throwing me off is the year bit if that’s a /9 or /10 for the year. It looks like there’s 2 numbers but I might be mistaking the / as a 1. Hope this helps anyway cheers.

Thx for picking up the date on the TW. Another viewer picked up the date on the nexus screen

Is more likely to be post 2010 given the yard leads for brighton hub were in and the track warrants had the current Tasrail logo on them i reckon

Ok, yeah a couple of good pointers there, thx. The DV tape was stupidly not dated! I've got a couple of avenues to pursue to hopefully confirm exactly when, but might take a bit of time, something I'm very short on atm.
