Please be thoughtful in the comments. The twins work in homes with clutter all the time. But they know its exactly the same 'clutter' making ideal nesting material in every attic. Which is where the rats usually live. So you could say the problem is modern efforts to insulate lofts. The rats can smell food and chew into the home afterwards. Sure, its difficult to keep any cluttered home clean.
I'm not perfect but if I knew people were coming over with cameras I'd REALLY clean my house! It's a shame these people don't recognize the conditions they are living in otherwise they would have panicked super cleaned that place.

Once these are gone and sealed up, then they can get their house back.
Hi Dave and Jim, I saw on one of your vids where the home owner used drywall screws to act as teeth when drilled into the trap wooden base. I have another quick trick. Use thin nail / brads hammered halfway into the wood base then use a wire cutter to snip off just the head / tips in a pattern to form a U shape. The sharp snipped brads will stick up about 1/4 to 1/2 inch and impale the rats so they cannot pull out of the trap.

I live in Cross Creek, Florida -- "Yearling Country" -- and in all my 56 years have never lived in such a sweet, tranquil place. When I realized there was a mouse (rat) in my home, I started moving things about, putting things into totes with lids, putting things into metal canisters, etc. Nothing I've done has worked, so after watching one of the twins' videos, I decided to crawl underneath my mobile home. I suited up, and started at one end intending to crawl all the way down to the other; but once I saw the size of one of the smaller holes that the rats have chewed into the underbelly of my mobile home, I realized that other holes nearer to where the bulk of the rat activity is must be very large....probably even burrows underground. Knowing that I don't have the materials to effectively patch, I couldn't bring myself to continue. I'm on SSDI, and about to enter into my fourth year of renting this home. The rat problem didn't exist until my neighbor behind me moved his rat-infested horse trailer right next to our fence line in May. Now I hear them on my roof and underneath the house and inside of the walls; sometimes, it sounds like gunshots are going off and I don't know why. I have spent a small fortune trying to get this problem under control...but after going down beneath the house the other day, I recognize that this is completely beyond me. I look at all of the clothes I bagged up in Tyvek bags...the empty pantry shelves and cabinets (their previous contents now stored inconveniently inside of stacked and labeled totes and ziplock bags); the new vacuum, the glue traps and rat traps that never catch anything: all projects and tasks I started when I still thought there was a way to solve the problem. But there isn't. "Whirrrr, whirrrr, whirrr," giggle the rats. And so I'm writing this now, exhausted after yet another fitful night of noise and movement... frozen in place as I glance around the clusterf*ck that my home has become as I tried to get a lid on the situation... completely overwhelmed, impotent, and at a total loss as to what to do next; too terrified to tell my landlord, unwilling to relocate but seeing few options, and so depressed that suicide seems like a viable Plan C. So please, try not to judge people's clutter. It's hard to keep going when you know you've tried your best but it's just not good enough: eventually, it feels like you're drowning and you're just too tired to keep swimming against the tide.
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It is not your fault you have a rodent issue and don't blame yourself! I see them in old broken down houses, newer, clean and dirty. For some reason people think its a cleanliness issue when any home can have a rodent infestation. Rats can live in most environments with ease and can adapt quickly. Add in a fast breeding cycle of about a month you can go from a couple to 12 in one month. Keeping your home and around your home clean will help. Remove as much clutter as you can. Remove trim up or remove any large brush near your home. Set up as many traps as you can in safe places away from children, pets or wildlife you don't want to hurt. Using different types of traps may also help. Victor and Catchmaster "The Claw" traps are what we use at work. Make your home presentable and tell your landlord. You don't want to be on the hook for damages occurred while you are living there. I've seen rats do $80,000 in damages to a home. I don't know about Florida buy in most states the landlord is responsible for taking care of most pest control issues. It's a process but it's a battle you can win! First things first, go to a friends or family members and get a good night sleep.
