It actually looks just like the Euro hot hatches and as far as 4cyl go, it sounds the business too. Good to see other car companies having a crack on more "performance" based vehicles.
its so amazing to see a company try to make a fun engaging performance driven! AFFORDABLE CAR! easily my top choice hot hatch for 2021
I'm 36 and picked up the Premium DCT in July. I've had some fun cars in my time, 1989 e30i coupe, VZ R8 with 4.11s and a bit cam, and even a Pug GT tourer.
The i30n is the smallest car I have owned, but I fit even being 197cm tall.
But without a doubt, it's the most fun car I have owned. The acceleration is just relentless and so impressive. But because it's designed for fun, it's fun walking back to it in a garage when the N logo lights up in the seats, and it's fun around slower streets with its burble, pops and bangs.
Then if I need it for driving around the kids, pop it in ECO and call me Mavis. Quiet, comfortable, and cruisey.
The original i30n was a masterpiece, but the FL is the perfect hot hatch.
Your spot on mate! That’s exactly what I think too.. this car was made for fun and when you drive it you can’t stop smiling.. without a doubt the best new hot hatch for the money
So good to read comments like this, I’m going from a perfect quiet but boring Merc C250 wagon which I loved. I can’t wait for the noise and character of the N. Mines coming next week. 👍👍👍
Glad I found your comment, 199cm here and was scared I would struggle for room but if you’re saying it’s good. Then I should be sweet.

I drove the dct and manual last weekend. Coming from years of VWs, the dct is very good. I found it had more crackles than the manual. I bought the manual in premium as I feel it may be the last manual in my garage and I’m not yet ready to concede to auto only. Good times.
Totally agree i would have done the same with the manual.. great cars i love em
Ross Im a 46 year old man that always loved my Ford Falcons BUT! I've been in one these bad boys and I was really impressed, I'm waiting on the Elantra N line version, By the way your facial expressions are fucking priceless 😝😝👍
i love the aussie muscle cars but cant turn away a hot hatch!
If you order the N line, I think that is more a premium trim level of the ordinary car rather than the high performance N version?
@@jashugg yes N line is not the performance variant correct
@@jashugg I believe the n-line has a 1.6 turbo 7 speed dct and the cheaper models have a 2.0 with a 6 speed auto or manual I could be wrong
14:10 it's not turbo lag, it's the launch control. It doesn't let you wear your tyres with pointless slipping. The car can't accelerate with spinning slipping tyres, that's the point. It wants to minimize the overrevving maximize traction.
That’s a fair assessment.. I would have expected it to be a bit more savage tho as traction control was on Sport.. would have been interesting to try with TC off.. I’ll have to try that again
Love it!
Thanks for the revue mate
cheers! this was a blast to drive
I love it and the sound specifically, can’t wait for the i20N review
its amazing this little hatch! cant wait to get the I20N!!!
Another great video bro 🤘🤘🤘 Seen these around the streets they can actually move 💥💥💥😲.... looks absolutely stunning in the red and black 💯💯💯❤
cheers bro! absolutely loved this one eh
Own a 2020 mustang Gt which I love, just bought the “wife” a i30N DCT, awaiting delivery next week.We test drove it and we were hooked, looking forward to enjoying this seasoned package. I had a relative today say to me they couldn’t believe I spent $50k on a Hyundai, I said, “I know cars, I wouldn’t spend $50k on a nugget, wait till I take you for a spin” Hyundai deserve such praise for developing such a brilliant car, and heck, what is $50k in terms of cars you actually want to drive. Could have bought plenty of boring nuggets for that money. Great video Ross, good work as always
Very nice garage! Gotta love the V8 next to the hothatch 👏👏👏
Great review dude, I've been watching everything on RUclips and yours is one of the best so far. I'm picking my one up in Jan 2024, can't come quicker
I appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed it.. I love the I30N
Well done mate another amazing video ....thank you.
thanks mate glad you enjoyed this one
Great review Ross. Really like these cars!
thanks! i honestly want one for my self lol
Ordered mine can’t wait to pick it up!
smart move man! you will love it
Iv'e been for a ride in a manual one, was shocked at how quick it was. This must be even more unreal... btw, great vids as of late my dude, really noticed the constant improvements you've been making since you took this on full time. Keep it up bro!
thanks Stephen! really been trying to up the quality.. this car is FAST.. really fun to drive
Great review! I can’t wait for the i30 Sedan N - I’ll be buying one
cheers! you cant go wrong their mate.. great cars
Bloody great review mate. I was eagerly awaiting this.
Keep it up and hurry up and get a ST 🤙🏻

its so much fun when on throttle! HOLD ON & SEND IT
Great review mate! Was hoping you would try it out.
i want it again lol
Great review mate. Now, I just gotta find one in grey!
that would be a great colour
good review brother
Thanks mate!
Hyundai has come a long way since the excel!
100% ITS INSANE THE LEVEL OF QUALITY THEY ARE COMING OUT WITH
@@RossReviewsau Love the sound too!
How can they improve from perfection?
@@tturi2 they cant. this is a downgrade compared to the legendary excel
The excel was a pile of crap... Except for the racing ones (which are unique)
Best thing about these cars is you don't really need to modify these much at all which means no trouble from the popo. At most you could do a tune and coilovers if you really wanted.
100% i actually got pulled over in it lol i was like its totally stock from hyundai.. they laughed and let me go.. perfect fun daily hothatch
@@RossReviewsau damn so I was wrong haha. Maybe it's the pops and crackles or because you were giving it the juice.
I hope Hyundai sells alot of these.
When a Golf GTI is no longer available in Australia in a manual, or with a traditional handbrake or real dials and buttons, it’s Hyundai who is catering to enthusiasts who want reasonably affordable grin-on-your-face fun and involvement, while also warranting their car for track use.
Thanks, I enjoyed the review.
Cheers! I’m also hoping they sell a lot because I honestly think it’s the most fun affordable Performace hatch out now.. love it
The New i 30n sounded really good and it also looks good
such a good package
Pretty much if they had the air-conditioning and the USB charging ports
I had the my20 i30n and have picked up the new i30n dct premium. Man it pulls I love it. Also with the raised black plastic at the back. One of the issues with the old one was allot of road grime so I feel that's why they did it. Also I've got the i30n sedan on pre order. Really looking forward to get that as well.
very nice mate! they really do GO eh! i would 100% get one as its a great fun all around vehicle. im interested in trying the new I20N
@@RossReviewsau hi mate thanks for your reply. I went for few laps in an i20n at Ipswich raceway earlier this year and Chris Atkinson was driving. Wow the turn in of the i20n is better than the i30n. You can really throw it into corners. The price and what you can do with it might be better than i30n to be honest. If it wasn't for the sedan i30n I would of bought one.
@@ryanmurphy2711 ahh im excited to have a go!
Great video mate. The 2002 BA Falcon XR8 and the 2011 HSV VE E3 Clubsport R8 SV Black Edition are for private sale on Carsales so the sellers phone numbers are on the ads. I absolutely love ❤️ the new I30N. Can’t wait for the next video. From Jordan’s car reviews.
Why are you telling him about the 2002 BA Falcon XR8 and 2011 HSV VE Clubsport for ???....they are trying to sell their car, not getting it reviewed. ??
@@victorsmith5699 he has reviewed cars that are for sale before + those 2 cars are really good for his channel.
@@jordanscarreviews6164 *Lol...First of all the 2 cars you mentioned are "For Sale" not "for thrashing"... last thing someone selling their car would want is for it to be reviewed and have the guts flogged out of it...plus most people have seen reviews of those cars, especially the BA XR8😪😪*
@@victorsmith5699 yes you are probably right about them being thrashed but both the 2 cars I haven’t seen reviews on yet.
glad you enjoyed it Jordan.. :)
I was very happy when I saw your upload this morning as I really wanted to get an unbiased review on this car (unlike the magazines who most likely have advertising agreements in place) to make me sway me to upgrade from my current Kia daily, to which has been a bloody good thing, to something newer and more fun! I'm still a fan of the cog swappers, but I'm curious to try a DCT. I totally agree the Korean car makers are here to stay, just like the Japanese car makers of the 70's, and having a 300k speedo in a daily is cool!
hope you enjoyed this review!.. just like my first review on the original I30N.. this new one is bloody fantastic! does every thing well and the performance is off the charts.. its interior is plain on the base model but that never bothered me.. still had all the features you would want..
Test drove this car today and yes, it has the goods. Some features I would like to see is electric assist front seats and an upgrade to the sound system. Looking at the Elantra N, this car comes with the electric seats and Bose sound system.
its so good eh.. anyone who says its not good i know has not driven it lol.. ;) they def should have gave it a upgraded sound system tho
Agree with you there, the Kona N and i20N get upgraded sound system why not the hatch?
Hey mate loved the review. Would u consider reviewing the i30n sedan as i would love to see a comparison?
ill do my best to get a hold of it!
Hi Ross, great review mate.
How is the suspension in normal mode ? Is it suitable for daily driving ?
You can daily it in normal mode but it’s still firmer than a GTI.. definitely more sports oriented but I could easily daily it
Hyundai make bloody swell cars mate, got 2 Sonatas pushing 180Kw with the Turbo & love driving it anywhere. I reckon that Hyundai are a long term Aussie player 🇦🇺🍻👍
100% Hyundai are not going anywhere.. they are here to stay and making some really nice vehicles
You need to get yourself into a I30 N Sedan one day its next level.
Yeah man I totally agree with you,it's got it all just about for a Hatch, looks, speed, sound & of course it's faster because she's Red Johnny lol,I like it a lot nice one bro.
i really enjoyed this car..
Sick little car
So fun!
Hey Ross . Would u say the the grin shift mode makes buying the dct worth it? As a civic si owner I feel weird trading for a dct. But the extra boost and grin shift sounds so fun !!
The DCT is really great! I do also love the manual tho😅 I think you will definitely see a big difference from a Si 👌
love it what an awesome car for what you pay it's a whole lot of fun
100% brother it’s a great package that will keep you smiling the whole drive
Yep, I want one!!!👌
i would love one too eh!
Enjoyed that review mate, cracking car but a little pricey pushing $60K. Would love to see a review on another hot hatch the Ford Fiesta ST.
i do need to find a new ST as i think thats the closest competition.. as this I30N blows the GTI out the water in terms of performance
the triangular light in the spoilers is fog lights :) I like your video anyway. I am buying Fastback N :)
It’s actually the third brake light man.. it comes on when you brake.. glad you enjoyed the video
Nice Review but I loved your watch the most. What brand is it? 😁
It’s a Raymond Weil Geneve 👌 nice affordable watch
I got to have a rental 2023 i30, the non turbo version with the 6 speed auto, even that feels pretty brisk in the acceleration
They are peppy
I traded my fg xr6 turbo for one a few weeks ago... awesome car... I got a 2021 i30n fastback manual... (in New Zealand)... I think it's still coming in Australia?
They are here now.. it’s a really really fun car eh! Very fun to send in N mode
Just put a deposit on a manual one, should be here in about a month. My feeling is that this will likely be the last ICE car I’ll buy, and most certainly the last manual I’ll ever own. So I’ll be enjoying this for a few years before I buy an EV.
great to hear! this is a fantastic hot hatch.. you will love it
Wheels are made by Auto Fuchs in Germany
Is that all stock!? That exhaust made some crazy crackles
100% stock.. its a press car from hyundai lol
Nice Video, your fuel usage 15L/100KM not surprising the way you drive it 🤣Thank you
Worth it eh! Love sending it in N mode so fun
What a great hot hatch! 🥵 I want one
best hothatch for 2021 in my books
Just ordered one 😬
Good job! It’s such a fun car
@@RossReviewsau thank you and great review too!
Is this the stock exhaust in N mode?
100% stock car
@@RossReviewsau wow didn’t realise how loud that exhaust is. I’m looking forward to the kona N. Hopefully that’s as loud!
Do a review of the i20N when it comes out.
Will 100%!! Be doing one when it comes to Australia! Very keen
i have turbo diesl i 30 and trust me it make sport cars crying on highway
hyundai is going for it eh! good cars
It actually doesn't look too bad besides that front grill. It's way out of proportion (too large) and needs to be redesigned in my opinion
i dont mind it.. but yeh seems to be a trend with all new cars.. big grills lol
After my n line, this will be my next baby. Unless they make radical changes on it.
won't regret it! awesome cars
Could the i30N be the new bench mark for hot hatch's? I thought the GR Yaris would be at the top but now I'm not so sure, the i30N tick's a lot of boxe's for me, it has a great exhaust from factory & doesn't need a tune to make crazy crack's. I like the seats it has & I'm glad there's a manual option. I don't mind Hyundai's, I like the Scoupe Turbo from the 90's & I have my sister's old Excel as a project.
the GR Yarris is a better technical track car.. but 100% the I30N is just simply more fun to drive!
@@RossReviewsau I think you're right about the Yaris being better technically for the track, though I have seen good video's of WRC i20's & a spectacular crash of one going down a hill. Would you trade the Cruze? on a i30N auto?
ruclips.net/video/9bjNEA-nhGk/видео.html
Crack noises sound annoying anyways
@@lvpo8866 *Yeah...Crackheads are always annoying and make stupid noises.*
The GR is many leagues about the I30N - it's not even comparable. The I30N is competition for the Golf GTI and Focus ST
Wish my accent was like this beast 😅
It’s the perfect little hot hatch eh🔥🤘
I love the Yaris, but it’s boot & back seats are tiny. The civic type r is too shit looking (for me). And I just don’t really dig GTIs. So this is a superb option for someone like me 😊
Honestly this is what I would buy with my money
Good review Jono you nailed it, great overall coverage of this vehicle, nice colour and exhaust sounds the autos are quick but can become un engaging I personally would have a manual, once again l don't like that steering wheel torque.
Rear wheel or all wheel the way.
I hope you don't start reviewing electric cars.
Tony
*The DCT 7 Speed Auto with the paddle shifters are very engaging and where all cars are heading. Very soon manuals will become obsolete. Modern autos are faster, smoother, more fuel efficient and if its turbo the auto just holds boost and keeps pulling.*
yeh i would honestly go the manual aswell.. but thats just my preference.. the DCT was really good.. i enjoy the torque steer lol idk just makes it more exciting when you jump on it!
Did you buy this or is it just a test drive ?
was a press car i had for a week.. (loved every day with it honestly)
i have a black one :D

Good fun car ,,all these small hot hatches R overpriced tho🤔
they are getting to expensive sadly
Have to admit I'm one of them fellas that don't really Hyundai because of their past offerings of utterly crap cars. But this one is pretty cool id still never buy it but maybe a wrecked N30i would be sick because I like the idea of some of these new hot 4bangers in some old cars it would be the best of both worlds. Just think this motor in a old datto or Rolla that weighs around 800kgs would be a bloody rocket that's good on fuel with stock reliability.
i know you love a overpowered FWD mike! if i let you have a rip in this thing i 100% know you would love it.. wouldn't trade the VZ in for it but im so happy to see a manufacturer still making a fun performance based car that is affordable and still comes in a manual! 5 year warranty and you can track it with the warranty! not bad for sub 50k new
This little 4 banger hot hatch would absolutely cream LS1s, LS2s and LS3s with ease. If Jono had set launch control to 3500rpm instead of 3300rpm and was on a better road this car would have ran a 4.9 second O-1OOkmh or a tad quicker, 1st gear changed to 2nd early at 6000rpm instead of at 6800rpm so definitely more in it. I would love for this car to have a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust from the dump pipe back.
@@RossReviewsau it's good value I'll give the little car that and if I ever took this or the manual out for a spin it would be hard to hide the smile from ear to ear lol. Yep I sure do love me front wheelers only people who haven't experienced how fun a FWD can be would knock them.
@@victorsmith5699 plenty of LS1,2,3s out there that would destroy this Hyundai mate.
@@mikenolan3060 *Lol...u would think being V8s that are 3 times the size displacement engine it would. Please enlighten me on which LS1,LS2 or LS3 that run under 5 seconds O-1OOkmh?..and please don't give me that its got no traction story. The i30N wasn't getting traction and still ran 5.1 secs O- 1OOkmh and still has more in it. I'm still waiting for your reply.😴😴*
Ha i was watching still one of my fav reviews - ruclips.net/video/yatrFT1nZQI/видео.html - And got a message of a new upload. Screw Golfs I want one of these
agreed im all team I30N now
I bet the manual wouldn’t do 0-100km in 5.1 seconds?
Do the i30 N manual have a "flat a hift" option like the Focus ST has? Even then I doubt it would have that speed as it simply does not the same sustained torque curve.
@@351tgv *The i30N craps over the Focus ST in every way. I have driven both of these cars and i30N is definitely the better car 💯 %*
the manual is claimed at 5.9 i believe but just depends how good of a shifter you are! the DCT will always be quicker tho
Wouldn’t you want awd in a hot hatch
I love FWD hot hatches.. more character
@@RossReviewsau feel like most hot hatches are FWD tho. GTI, MPS, i30 n and I’m sure there’s many more
To much noise out of the back end , you can have violent but silent , this just lets the police know your around the corner doing silly speeds
you can make the exhaust quiet if you want.. wont pop in eco mode.. i love it haha.. plus its a factory car no yellow sticker
@@RossReviewsau yellow sticker .?
Still prefer the Focus ST, sure the auto version has a muted exhaust over the manual but I don't mind that as I'm not into exhaust pops and bangs from a 4 cyl turbo, also the torque converter auto would be much better in general driving duties over a fussy DCT which overtime will need more maintencne
needs plus do you really need all that adjusting suspension ability? I say no and as other reviewers have mentioned the Focus ST is the better of the two in terms of metro and regional driving ability.
No doubt the i30 N is a nice a good hot hatch but it's still a Hyundai and this hurts it, that is not badge snobbery at all as you have to remember that early on in the 80's & the 90's (well before you were here in Australia) Hyundai under Bond Corp importer had really some of the biggest shit heaps ever seen here and some of us have long memories and while Hyundai have come a long way let's be honest here and say they still have a long way to go to go with there products, vehicles like this and the Stinger help there image but is that enough?
Just in the 0-100 time ... Hmmmm it's rolling on 19' so the speedometer will actually be underepoering what the actual road speed is by up to 5km/h which means this speed test is actually a 0-95km/h test as other reviews using independent equipment all have the DCT versions doing real 0-100 tearing at around 5.7sec and I would think that is more accurate based in a real meters per second which is converted to km/h calculation.
*TGV...You obviously don't have a long memory because E series Ford Falcons(mainly EA-EL) were steaming piles of cow dung compared to the Hyundai Excel of the same era which were a lot more reliable than those Falcons and better build quality as well. You are one of those people that know this I30N is a great car but you just can't seem to get over the fact it is a HYUNDAI.*
*TGV...."Fussy DCT"😂😂😂 Nothing fussy about them matey. They absolutely crap on the old torque converter autos with the DCT giving the car quick, firm, precise changes that actually change the milli second you touch the upshift paddle.*
bro that long ass essay and all u did was hate. ford is garbage
@@victorsmith5699 - yeah and at 40,000km you will need to do a full service on it and that is not cheap with the transmission fluid alone something like $150 a litre and you 8 litres of it and the actual service kit it self (position sensor, clutch pack and valve body) costs like another $500, and that is without labour which would be lets say $220, all up $1,920 ex GST for a mandatory transmission service, but yeah what ever all you marks never realise these facts and then when you do all you do is bitch and moan.

To add to what has been said the demise of Aussie sedans was the SUV and dual cab ute. I'm a former owner of a 2001 xr8 and it was a great car but it wasn't as practical as my Kluger.
